After our server was hit by hackers for the second time in three months while our webmaster had his eye off the ball because he was struggling with yet another sudden and disheartening drop in traffic due to Google's tweaking of their algorithm to favour their own sites and those site that give Google revenue by either displaying their ads or more significantly buying traffic through the Google adwords product we had to take time to decide if it was worth carrying on.
The Daily Stirrer will continue but on a much smaller scale than previously until Google backs up its lofty words by actually practicing net neutrality and letting sites attract traffic on their merit rather than Google's whim. (Xavier Connolly, 16 July 2012)
Standard Chartered Bank and Obama's Racism

Standard Chartered may not be a household name in Britain, but in plenty of countries this bank is one of our best known national brands. Which makes its alleged behaviour over Iran even more troubling and inexplicable.
First things first: Standard Chartered denies the allegation made by the New York state regulator that it carried out sanctions-busting transactions on behalf of Iranian clients totalling $250 billion over a decade.
The bank’s response, however, makes interesting reading. Of the nine paragraphs, note how four of them merely say that Standard Chartered was kind enough to cooperate fully with the investigation, turn itself in to the authorities and hand over everything that was asked of it etc etc. You have to wade through 280 words of this gloss before you get to the substance.
When you do, you find that the bank does not dispute the central facts. Instead, its defence hinges on how to interpret the US rules restricting financial transactions with Iran. Here, Standard Chartered thinks the regulator got it wrong by enforcing a view of the rules that was “incorrect as a matter of law”. In effect, Standard Chartered is saying ‘yes, we carried out these transactions, but we think they were within the regulations’. In paragraph five, however, the bank admits that even on its own interpretation of the rules, deals with Iran worth $14 million were in breach of US sanctions.
Let’s be kind and assume, for a moment, that Standard Chartered’s view of the regulations is correct and “only” $14 million of its transactions with Iran amounted to violations of US sanctions. That is still pretty extraordinary. There are moral and political objections to doing business in a country with a deeply repressive regime like Iran’s. But more than anything else, there are commercial objections as well. What kind of a bank thinks that doing business with Iran is such a good idea that it’s worth risking the condemnation of the US authorities? Put bluntly, what kind of a bank thinks that Tehran is more important to them than Wall Street?
As a result of sanctions, Iran's oil exports have declined from 2.2bn barrels a day to 1.7bn barrels (June figures).
Readers will not be surprised to know that the largest purchaser of Iran's oil is the People's Republic of China, and that they have reduced their purchases to satisfy the US who in turn have decided not to 'punish' China for continuing to buy approx 400,000 barrels a day.
Ecuador has also been negotiating a deal with Iran.
The point is, if you ask where does all this money come from that Standard Chartered was allegedly 'laundering', it is part of a revenue stream that must include all of Iran's customers in the oil and gas business.
But for Standard Chartered their long view might be that dealing with Iran under an unpleasant regime now, could be beneficial in the longer term when Iran changes; this was the reasoning a lot of multinational firms used to ignore sanctions in South Africa, and many of them benefitted from their loyalty to South Africa after Apartheid was dismantled.
What we have right now is short-term political game-playing that could cause long term-damage to financial institutions -maybe this is an attempt by Wall St to destroy its competitors in a shrinking market?

More Dumbing Down As Examiners Told To Fix Results

‘Comparable outcomes’, is a system operated by school examination boards that allows examiners to change marking criteria ensuring the same number of pupils get the top grades every year. This system of official cheating has been introduced as part of the Education Department’s efforts to prove exams are not getting “too easy”.
Some teachers argue it is not fair on talented pupils, or schools producing high achievers, as they will get a lower grade than they would have in previous years.
Ministers have been under pressure to ensure A-levels are not 'dumbing down' after a steep rise over the last ten years in the number of pupils achieving top marks.
Last year the number of pupils achieving A Grades was capped for the first time since the late 1980s at 27 per cent, following the introduction of the ‘comparable outcomes’. Now Ofqual wants to extend it to GCSEs.
A document from the exams regulator has been leaked to The Independent newspaper. It states: “If necessary we will require exam boards to change their grade boundaries.... [so that] roughly the same proportion of students will achieve each grade as in the previous year.”
Professor Alan Smithers, director of the Centre for Education and Employment at Buckingham University, argued that it is a sensible temporary measure to stop A-level results becoming meaningless before the exam system is improved overall.
The awarding bodies are going to be asked to account for any big deviation upwards. I think it is a useful interim measure to tackle the gross inflation in A-level results," he said.
This was the policy up until 1987, when just 10 per cent of candidates for A levels obtained A-Grades each year.
This is another example of the politicisation of education that went on under the Labour government and has continued under the Coalition. The Daily Stirrer has reported many times on how this constant meddling with exam marking systems to make education policy seem successful has resulted in potential employers coming to egard A level results and even university degrees as worthless.

Corn Crisis Is Next Threat To World Economy
If the new World Bank president (name of Yong Kim – these sinecures never go to Europeans or white Americans now we notice) was hoping for a honeymood period while he gets his feet under the desk he can forget it: Kim can add to his headaches over the Europe’s debt crisis the problem of surging food prices.
In his first month on the job Kim spent most of his energy trying to gauge how the Eurozone crisis is affecting the plight of the poor. There are troubling signs that the economies of China and India are slowing as has been reported by the Daily Stirrer. That might leave Asia, which has the largest share of extreme poverty, without its only growth engines.
That’s almost manageable compared with what’s confronting Kim in his second month: the worst U.S. drought in 56 years and dry weather in agricultural regions in India, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine has ruined grain crops. Coupled with exploding demand for food, this has caused violent commodity-price volatility at the worst possible time for Asia.
Rising food prices limit how much central bankers can cut interest rates to safeguard growth. More troubling would be the potential setback to poverty-reduction programs for decades to come.
The last food crisis began amid the 2008-2009 crash of the U.S. economy. In the second half of 2010 alone, according to the World Bank, some 44 million people were pushed back below the extreme poverty line, defined as those living on $1.25 a day or less. Asia is home to the bulk of those who spend between 60 percent and 80 percent of their paltry incomes on food.

According to reports in newspapers and broadcast news today, six serious mistakes, dubbed 'never events' because they should never occur, have happened in the last year at Croydon University Hospital, in south London, NHS regulators have revealed.
Incidents included the wrong knee being operated on, two people were given the wrong lens eye implant and a surgical swab being left inside someone after surgery.
Two more never events occurred after the inspections in June but those details have not been revealed.
The findings were 'very worrying' and the problems need addressing 'urgently', a spokesperson said.
The Care Quality Commission reported there was equipment lacking in the surgical recovery unit which had meant patients had to stay overnight unnecessarily and other operations had to be delayed.
There was also a shortage of staff with many patients saying although the standard of care they received was good, nurses seemed overstretched.
Matthew Trainer, deputy director of CQC in London, said: “The standards of quality and safety in care that CQC checks are those that the law says everyone should expect. These standards exist to protect vulnerable people – who cannot always speak up for themselves – from being put at risk of harm.
The left and commentators in mainstream media will claim this state of affairs is due to cuts imposed by the coalition government. Those who support the government will blame the Labour government and the unions. The real culprits are the NHS managers.
When bean counters and box tickers are put in control of anything they focus on their strengths. Thus the modern NHS is about bean counting and box ticking rather than patient care. Doctors and nurses are so fearful of failing to follow procedure to the letter they are neglecting to do what needs to be done. And front line staff spend far too much time on paperwork causing patient care to suffer even further.
There is nothing wrong with the NHS that could not be solved by prioritising the right things. Unfortunately wankers will always prioritise wanking.

Texting is fostering bad grammar and spelling, researchers claim
Teenagers who frequently use 'txtspk' when they text performed poorly on a grammar test, said Drew Cingel, a former undergraduate student in communications at Penn State University.
'Txtspk' includes shortcuts, homophones and the ommission of non-essential letters.
When teens write in techspeak, they often use shortcuts, such as homophones, acronyms and omissions of non-essential letters such as 'wud' for 'would.' But researchers say the texting is having a detrimental effect on normal rules of grammar.
Mr Cingel gave middle school students in a central Pennsylvania school a grammar test and also asked them how often they sent text messages. "Overall, there is evidence of a decline in grammar scores based on the number of adaptations in sent text messages, controlling for age and grade," said Mr Cingel.
Those who sent or recieved the most text performed the worst in the test.
"In other words, if you send your kid a lot of texts with word adaptations, then he or she will probably imitate it," Sundar said.
"These adaptations could affect their off-line language skills that are important to language development and grammar skills, as well."
We can forget all this politically correct bullshit. Children have always used slang. When I was at school 50 years ago it was cockney rhyming slang and Polari, a slang used by musicians, travelling showmen who worked the fairs and circuses, prostitues, homosexuals and other disreputable types who might have reasons for not wanting respectable people to know what they were talking about.
The difference between then and now is we would not have been allowed to use such slang in our schoolwork. Now the politically correct education system is so obsessed with "encouraging creativity" and being "cool" pupils are not made to use appropriate English in class or homework projects.

The Unreported Assassination Attempt On Hillary Clinton

Washington, July 20: Was there an assassination attempt on U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton while she was on an official visit to Israel. According to Israel Radio and Reuters, there was.
Israel Radio broke the story earlier in the week, which was confirmed by sources inside Israel, but never mentioned again.According to World Mathaba, the purported attack on Clinton was related to the current political upheaval in Israel-the aim being kill Clinton, blame Iran and take the focus off the domestic political meltdown in Tel Aviv.
Normal security procedures should have prevented any vehicle on open regions from coming within 200 meters of Clinton, news a.gency reports said.
According to sources, the attack on Clinton's convoy, a minimum of three to five vehicles, traveling from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, follows the story earlier of an attack on a bus loaded with Israeli tourists that exploded in Bulgaria, which killed six persons.
According to World Mathaba, both the Bulgaria attack and the attempted assassination of Clinton was a Mossad "false flag" operation. There are dozens of Mossad agents operating in Bulgaria, which still has in place massive Soviet era security services that follow all tourists. Coincidentally, the attack on Clinton took place within hours of her supporting Israel regarding the Bulgarian attack, it said. World Mathaba claims to be an independent middle eastern news agency but as with all news organisations in the region it's claims should be treated with caution. Unfortunately we have to say that of western news media also.

Hiow can there be a plan for long term survival when the government of one small developing country is facing the entire wealth of the superpower and its oil-rich local proxies deployed against it, with little or no significant external support. Iran is just another medium-sized developing country, and Russia and China are unable to do much by virtue of the geographic and geopolitical realities.
Against such power, and in the face of such odds, mere hanging on is a triumph.

Parents treat us like NHS staff on a Saturday night, says headteacher attacked in his office
A headmaster has complained that parents treat teachers like "NHS staff on a Saturday night" after he was attacked in his study by an angry father. Kieran Heakin, 60, was grabbed around the throat after being confronted by the man who believed his son was being bullied by fellow pupils.
As other teachers tried to intervene, the angry father also tried to kick and headbutt Mr Heakin and shouted: "Now I am really going to hurt you" during the assault at St John the Baptist Roman Catholic school in Burnley, Lancs . The headmaster, who has taught in schools for 40 years was left bruised. his 45 year old attacker was subsequently arrested.
In 2009, Mr Heakin was attacked by former pupil Jermaine Bullen, then 26, who harboured a 20 year grudge against him - falsely claiming he used to cane him when he was six years old. Bullen told Mr Heakin: "You used to beat me up and I have waited all these years to meet up with you again" before repeatedly kicked and punched him in an Indian restaurant.
In that attack Mr Heakin was left needing facial reconstruction surgery, had four metal plates fitted and is now permanently deaf in one ear, and has no sense of smell and taste.
Mr Heakin condemned the lack of respect shown to teachers by parents after the father who attacked him escaped jail after he was found guilty of assault.
He said: "We are just like NHS staff on a Saturday night where people come into a hospital accident and emergency department and do not have any respect for those people who are trying to help.
This is a disturbing case but to put it in context we should think of all those stories about serious instances of systematic bullying in which headmaster have glibly dismissed allegations that later turned out to be true, simply by saying "We do not tolerate bullying in this school." All their zero tolerance amounts to is looking the other way and refusing to see what is happening under their nosers.
When headmaster stop treating parents in the same way as they treat eleven year oldsand realise it is they, not the parents of their pupils who decided life in the adult world was just too tough job like and took refuge in a losers career like teaching and then they drop the superciliouis attitudes and speak to parents as equals they might earn back a little of the respect they used to enjoy

Dumbing Down Is Now Officvial Education Policy

We have commented on the lack of p[olicy in government education policy many times. The years of bureaucratic obsession with ever improving pass rates which led to progrssive lowering of standards has, like a vulture coming home to roost, finally caught up with the bean counters of the state education state education system.
Gladdening the hearts of the old gits who write The Daily Stirrer, Lord Willis, chairman of the house of Lords Science and Technology Committee, has professed himself “absolutely gobsmacked” by the results of the investigation he commissioned into the standard of maths teaching in state schools. Professors of mathematics at Cambridge, York and Surrey have reported that some students entering university with an A-level A* qualification in maths have to be given remedial training before they are ready to start their undergraduate course work. Part of the reason for this dismal outlook is the modular structure of courses provided by competing exam boards to make the subject easier in a “race to the bottom” in pursuit of better statistics.
Most people who question this dire situation do so in purely utilitarian or economic terms: we are, they say, falling behind our competitors, China and India, who know the importance of high standards in maths. Even more shocking however is the discovery that the exam boards seem to care nothing for academic excellence as a good thing in its own right – the very thing they were appointed to uphold, all they are intertested in is statistics. And how long before the universities themselves dumb down their maths syllabus to accommodate the incompetence of their entrants?
Only last week the grinning loon Prof. Brian Cox was whinging about there not being enough places available on science courses for those who want to enrol. Clearly brian, a typical leftie, thinks young people should be given university places on demand. Maths BSc? Sure. No, it's not a problem that you think two and two makes five. In our dumbed down, crypto marxist future it may be an advantage.
We cannot cease to be shocked by the sheer awfulness of state education. On the Education Department’s own reckoning, 43 per cent of pupils leave after eleven years of compulsory, free education unable to read, write and count efficiently. It amounts to child abuse.
And it’s not just in maths and English. The whole system is imbecilic. And not only imbecilic but ideologically driven. An intelligent sixteen year old boy told me about his history lessons: “We just get Hitler, the slave trade, suffragettes, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela and the evils of British imperialism.”
In other words, our state schools operate a policy of left wing political indoctrination which would have been the envy of the Soviet Union – except the USSR wasn’t as dumbed down as we are.

Sunday morning is a lazy time for those who have no young children and no interest in religion. Every Sunday, in a slot that was for years occupied by a Christian religious program Mrs. T and I like to watch the wider discussion show that now fills that hour as we consume a leisurely breakfast. One thing that strikes me in these discussions is that the secular view is often represented by a "scientist" who labours under the misapprehension that all who participate in worship or do not subscribe to Marxist thinking are creationists.

Tory Voters Turn Against David Cameron
Voters are growing more and more disaffected with David Cameropn's performance as Prime Minister and feel that U turn after U turn on policy has created an aura of incompetence and lack of leadership”.
An analysis of the government's performance compiled by Lord Ashcroft, the former Conservative Party deputy chairman and a polling expert, found that Mr Cameron faces a “formidable” challenge to win the next general election.
Ashcroft's poll of more than 8,000 adults found Labour enjoyed 40 per cent support, the Conservatives 31 per cent, Liberal Democrats 10 per cent and the UK Independence Party 9 per cent. Focus groups were also created to assess the views of key groups of target voters.
Lord Ashcroft’s study, titled Project Blueprint, found that continuing credible economic management was still the critical factor among those who will potentially support the Conservatives at the next election.
The Tories are still seen as more competent in this area and Lord Ashcroft’s research suggests they should focus on this rather than confusing voters with pledges about constitutional reform, referendums on Europe and an overhaul of the NHS.
As the vDaily Stirrer has said before, "We told you so." Conservatives want conservative policies and true liberals like all of us, who believe in small government and greater individual freedom in a lightly regulated but humane society, want the kind of policies John Locke, Adarticlem Smith, John Stuart Mill and David Lloyd George would have recognised as Liberal. Instead the Coalition is giving us the same politically correct concensus politics as New Labour gave us during thirteen years of misrule.
Those were not Labour policies of course but the kind of oligarchic collectivism that Orwell warned of in "1984" and that the smooth faced closetr Nazis of the EU and the United Nations are using to promote their Nazi dream of a totalitarian world government.
If any of us are still around in 20 years and people are still allowed to post their opinions on the internet* we do not want to be saying "We told you so," on this issue.
*Remember, Gordon Brown for New Labour and Barack Obama for the Barack Hussein Obama World Domination Society have both said dissident websites written by people who "do not understand the problems" (because we do not agrre with thgeir authoritarian solutions) should be closed down by governments.

Heart Attack Pill: Medicate Everybody And Abolish Death

There’s been new talk of a polypill: a pill the entire population are required to take by law on a regular basis in the expectation that such fascistic measures will eradicate the health problems that cost the National health Service most money.
"Is a pill to cure bureaucratic incompetence and money wasting?" You might well ask.
Well no, those boffins with their white coats, cone shaped heads and personal odour issuesw are not quite that clever yet.
The new polypill is just plain old statins, the cholesterol loering drug that causes arse dribble while totally overlooking the fact that people who have low cholesterol don't need it lowered any more. The loonytoons scientific thinking behind this is dish it out to the whole population above a certain age, sit back and wait for heart disease rates to fall thus saving the NHS loadsamoney. And they few who die because they are forced to take a drug they don't need are not statistically significant so fuck 'em. As with most scientific great ideas it has not really been thought through, in fact Dr David Wald, who Iell you may say there is a possible conflict of interest there, Boggart Blog could not possibly comment.
Margaret McCartney, an outspoken Glasgow GP and medical commentator who has never been afraid to challenge the Big Phrama lackeys of the British Medical Association and the Department of Health nails the key point: that medicating entire populations sounds a great idea but often causes unexpected harm. It is more effective to target medication at the patients who need it rather than needlessly medicating a bunch of patients with nothing wrong with them. All those well patients get is a few possible side-effects, and no benefit. That’s a pretty crude method.
As Dr McCartney says, the healthy patients are also the ones most likely to take the pill. The sick ones, who might actually benefit, are also less likely to comply. The sort of diseases that this tablet is aimed at – cardiovascular, diabetes and so on – are very often associated with lifestyle and poverty. Addressing these causes would surely be a more sensible solution to the problem than offering a promise of immortality wrapped up in a nice little pill.

Labour knew immigration was out of control seven years ago, Ed Miliband admits

Labour knew that immigrants were flooding into Britain in far higher numbers than anticipated by 2005, Labour leader Ed Miliband, backed by former home office minister John Denham admitted today.
Mr Denham, now permanent private secretary to the Labour Leader, said it was clear seven years ago that estimates for numbers of migrants coming into the country were 'vastly wrong.' The Labour MP for Southampton said: "We were advised about 15,000 and about that came to Southampton alone in the first 18 months."
Asked when he was first aware of the problem he added: "I think for me in really 2005. It was then it became clear that the estimates we relied on were wrong. "What we are acknowledging today is that far more people came in far more quickly than people anticipated."
The last Labour government oversaw a liberal immigration policy that led to the arrival of hundreds of thousands of workers from eastern Europe.
Fre immigration, a home and a nice comfortable income couresty of the state have, according to many in the Labour Party, always been the right of anybody who wants to come and live in Britain. Showing their usual contempt for the British people, British law and any kind of logic or common sense these had wringing morons are quite unable to see that their stance which they claim is a question of human rights actually infringes the human rights of far more people that it benefits.
The greatest good of the greatest number has never been a consideration for the left of course, their only concern is to be "seen" to be good, caring people. The good opinion of their peers is far more iportant to them than championing the cause of the working class whose interests they claim to champion. It is any wonder then that the real working classes, while continuing to vote Labour to keep the goverbnment handouts flowing, actually despise these middle class lefties more than they ever despised the old aristocratic ruling class.
A word in closing. Ed Miliband is making some good decisions and showing that he possesses a fair measure of common sense and is in touch with the mood of the country. It is a pity those qualities are likely to get him removed as Labour leader before the next election.
In a speech on immigration today Mr Miliband will admit that Labour got it wrong. The Labour leader will say that while middle-class households benefited from mass immigration to Britain their working class counterparts suffered. Mr Miliband will admit that the influx of cheap workers was good for the middle classes who wanted a new conservatory but bad for the British labourers who built them.

The news that Education Secretary Michael Gove plans to dump the abysmally dumbed down GCSE exam and bring back an examination closer to the old and much tougher GCE O level for more academically gifted pupils and a qualification based more on practical skills and knowledge for school leavers whose gifts lie in other directions will be welcomed by many who feel the education sysytem has failed generations of children.
The Daily Stirrer will reserve judgement. The exams may change but if pupils are still being taught by the same thick, snobbish, unimaginitive, left - wing time servers the end results are unlikely to be any better.
Years ago when the dreadful CSE exam and the earnestly tedious ‘O’ level were being force-married into a new examination that gives bastardy a different name there was a joke circulating. It featured a crusty old ‘O’ level examiner for History who believed that an example of the best type of ‘O’ level question was along the lines of, 'What effect did the fact of Henry VIII's six wives have on the average Englishman?', and who believed the new GCSE exams' equivalent was, 'Imagine that you are a mole on Anne Boleyn's left buttock and describe your wedding night with Henry VIII.'

Deal To Save The Euro Will Cause Bigger Crash Than 2008
As Europe Agrees To € 600 billion bail out a Bank of England official warns "Prepare for Lehmans re-run." Banks and traders must prepare for a devastating market seizure as governments grapple with the escalating economic crisis in Europe, Robert Jenkins, a member of the Bank of England Financial Policy Committee of the policymaker has warned.
Cheap and ready access to the liquid assets that oil the financial markets are under threat from both state-imposed capital controls and flagging confidence in the euro, Jenkins told the Global Alternative Investment Management conference in Monaco. Without easy access to liquidity, markets could seize in a re-run of the credit crunch after the collapse of Lehman Brothers, he warned. (read more on Lehman rerun)
Liquidity is the rwadily available cash that keeps the day to day activities of business and government working. If all the cash that should be liquid is tied up in long term bonds for the sake of saving the Euro the whole system grinds to a halt.
We must remind you that saving the pensions and investments of ordinary people like you is not a priority for the Euro Nazi In Chief, Barroso was saying the Euro could not be allowed to fail. What he means is when the singlke currecy sytem does fail as it inevitably must, the Federal European Superstate run by unelected bureaucrats like him and the other slithering scumsuckers who have wormed their way to being an unelected bureaucratic dictatorship in Brussels is dead.

Finance Markets Fear Spanish Bail Out Will Cost €100 billion
Spain will need an outright bailout and not just a rescue package for its banks if it has to pay the kind of interest rates demanded by investors at today's treasury bill auctions, says Marc Otswald of Monument Securities.
While Spain achieved its overall target of €3bn of 12 and 18-month T-Bill sales, the yields at which these were sold can only be described as prohibitively expensive, having spiked sharply higher from early morning indications. Quite clearly, the delay to the second part of the audit of Spanish Banks to September was exactly NOT what the doctor ordered, nor was the German constitutional ruling on the ESM (not that it will delay the start of the ESM, but it is another "ball and chain" in terms of German political decision making processes.)
Still the key point is that if Spain is paying those kind of levels for its debt, it needs not only an ESM package to recapitalize its banks, it also needs an outright bail-out package, and it is becoming very difficult to see how it can manage without that beyond the end of Q3, unless yields fall dramatically!
The issue is in fact about the breadth of estimates (official and market) about how much is needed to recapitalize Spain's banks (€40bn to €279bn) and as my (German) father used to say: "wer soll das bezahlen?" (who is going to pay for that?), and when will Spain be forced into requesting a full bail-out (one estimate just published suggests €300bn would be needed), which should or would be the cue for Germany to say auf wiedersehen to the Euro.

Greece will have to leave EMU whoever is leads the government
More examples of Marxist Madia Bias today from across the spectrum but mostly from the Bolshevik Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) whose executives must by now have committed treason so many times we can legally hang them.
To hear any BBC television or radio news broadcast, one would think the latest election result in Greece had saved the Euro solved the sovereign debt crisis and guaranteed we would have a federal European superstate under a Euronazi government of unelected bureaucrats by next week. In fact the Greek election have given a small majority to New Democracy, the most pro-European of the main parties, but even this group are demanding a renegotiation of the bailout terms that includes conditions Germany has already said are not acceptable.
There is also the small question of whether New Democracy, which does not have an overall majority, will be able to form a ruling coalition that could pass its policies in the Greek Parliament. To do this they will have to rely on either the leftist Greens or the extreme right. It does not look good. So Greece's continued membership of the Eurozone is no more assured that it was before the election while Greece's leaving of the single currency is still inevitable..
The exact circumstances and timing of Greece’s ejection from monetary union no longer have any systemic importance for global finance. The damage has already been done. The precedent of EMU break-up is by now priced into the credit markets. Putting a date on the Grexit changes nothing.
Central banks across the world are standing ready to shower markets with emergency liquidity. A political collapse in Athens is the excuse they need to launch a fresh blitz of stimulus as the global economy flirts with recession once again. Stimulus will result in rampant inflation which will futher erode the value of earnings and savings. Joe the Plumber, Mary the Office Worker and Fred the pensioner will be hardest hit.
Fed chair Ben Bernanke requires a crisis somewhere to outflank his own hawks and slip another round of quantitative easing (QE) past the Tea Party Congress before the “fiscal cliff” – 4.5pc of GDP in tightening – hits the US economy with a sledgehammer this winter.
Mario Draghi at the European Central Bank needs one even more badly to check his own liquidationist reactionaries before they destroy Europe’s post-War order altogether. Any action may already be too late to stop a synchronised slump on both sides of the Atlantic, with China, India, Brazil, and Russia in trouble too.
The US has slowed to stall speed. Retail sales have fallen for the last two months. Job growth has dropped from 259,000 in February to 69,000 in May, too low to stop unemployment rising again.
The only possible outcome, and the goal of the New World Order since the financial crisis was engineered is to make all of us, except the ruling elite (the inner Party of Orwell's 1984) dependent on the state.

The Real Reason Our Leaders Can’t Fix The Euro Debt Crisis?

Attempt to fix the sovereign debt crisis among European Single Currency (Euro) System members have only amounted to throwing good money after bad. Economists, bankers and politicians have been scratching their heads for two years without coming up with any idea that would achieve anything apart from buying more time before the system collapses under the stress of its own inbuilt imbalances.
In spite all the money, time and words expended on solving the problem, things just seem to keep on getting worse. This week alone a €100 billion investment in Spain’s banks only resulted in its debts becoming more expensive than at any time since it joined the euro and ratings agency Moody’s saying the 's bonds could reach “junk” status inside three months.
But the problem is straightforward and there’s a way out, if only those in power woulds stop barking up the wrong tree and get over a simple stumbling block. We have so far looked to economists, politicians and financiers for ideas but what we really need is psychologists.
That’s the conclusion Lee Freeman-Shor, a veteran of the financial industry who currently manages more than £640 million of assets in award-winning funds at Skandia. Freeman-Shor has identified Europe’s leaders of falling prey to the same hang up that’s keeping UK house prices at unrealistic levels. He calls it sunken cost bias.
“Sunken cost bias is a devastatingly powerful behavioural trait and it’s one which in my view is causing much of the paralysis that European policy makers currently demonstrate,” he said earlier this week.“Quite simply this bias conspires to make European leaders unable to make objective decisions during times when they are losing the battle and it ultimately results in the person under its influence doing nothing.”
It sounds complicated, but it’s really not when he explains it with this analogy.
"Imagine you bought a house in 2007 for £500,000. Now in 2012, five years after your initial purchase you decide you want to sell and I make you an offer of £350,000. Would you sell?
“Behavioural psychology suggests you would find it very hard to sell your house to me no matter how much you wanted to move. The loss of £150,000 would weigh on you mind - it influences your decision. You are under the spell of sunken cost bias. Furthermore, as you anchor to the £500,000 you paid you would conclude there is more upside to staying put than moving - which is known as ‘disposition effect’,”
“For European leaders, Greece, and Southern Europe, is rather like that house. They have invested a lot of money in it, regret ever purchasing it, are very reluctant to spend one more penny on upkeep, but given the loss incurred they do not want to sell. The eurozone crisis is a classic example of sunken cost bias at work on an international scale.”
Trying to weld a series of different countries, with different taxes, benefits and economies to a single currency was never going to work out long-term. It’s been tried before and failed before: Most notably a 10 years ago when Argentina pegged the peso to the US dollar and closer to home 20 years ago when Britain crashed out of the euro’s predecessor the Exchange Rate Mechanism.
To have a single currency you need to have a single economy to back it up.
That means to solve this problem you need to accept that the rich nations must either fully back those struggling or cut them loose and let them recover. That would mean either a lot of money flowing from places like Germany to Greece, Spain and Portugal (and possibly Italy, Ireland and even France) or those unable to pay the bills being set adrift.
To do either thing would require a comprehensive solution and that means strong leadership, clear thinking and decisive action. Something that sunken cost bias is undermining.
“Quite simply this bias conspires to make European leaders unable to make objective decisions during times when they are losing the battle and it ultimately results in the person under its influence doing nothing,” Freeman-Shor said.
Doing nothing when things are going wrong is very rarely a plan that works out well for anyone but what Freeman - Shor overlooks is that even if leaders of economically responsible nations in northern Europe could persuade their taxpayers to write off the debt they are not going to be able to talk them into accepting massive tax increases so the peasdants of Mediterranean basket case nations can have an easy life.
A Change Of Style

We are contemplating a change of style at The Daily Stirrer. The latest changes in the Google algorithm have stymied many independent sites and because more effort is needed to attract traffic to our site quality is suffering. Google claim their actions are aimed at downgrading junk sites, scrapers that suck up original content from other sites, spam links and other search engine manipulation tactics.
Our webmaster, Ian Thorpe has found the concensus among web professionals is that Google's recent changes has achieved the opposite and many are wondering was the real objective of the so called Panda and Penguin algorithm updates to boost Google's revenue by driving traffic towards sites (usually online merchants) that through the Google Adwords product actually pay the search engine for traffic.
This of course kills any claims that the web is a valid source of information and it becomes a giant shopping mall which collects your personal data and uses it to target you with sales pitches. That old Don't Be Evil slogan is looking a bit sick.
Still Yahoo, Bing and Ask Jeeves are excellent search tools. Why not give them a try.

Jose Manuel Barroso Calls For End To National Sovereignty To Save Euro Nazi's Single Nation Project

OK so the headline is a bit sensational but it go your attention didn't it?
Actually what the Stalinist Barroso has been calling for is a European Financial Union, an integration of national finances under a single supervisory body run by unelected bureaucrats. Not quite the formation of a single European Superstate bu a giand leap towards it.
On the pages of the Financial Times today the European Commission President is again pushing the idea of an EU banking union. The FT reports that Barroso is calling for the EU to take “a very deep step” towards further integration:
There is now a much clearer awareness among European member states about the need to go further in terms of integration, especially in the euro area. This is one of the lessons of the crisis.
Mystifyingly there has been no sign of this “clearer awareness” among voters in EU member states that have held elections recently. As for the need for more European integration, this has hardly been a key lesson of the Eurozone crisis. As recent survey carried out by Pew Research has shown, there is an overwhelming and rising disillusionment among voters across the EU with the idea of further economic integration:
Across the eight European Union member countries surveyed, a median of only 34% think that European economic integration has strengthened their country’s economy. Indeed, majorities or near majorities in most nations now believe that the economic integration of Europe has actually weakened their economies. This is the opinion in Greece (70%), France (63%), Britain (61%), Italy (61%), the Czech Republic (59%) and Spain (50%). Only in Germany (59%) do most people say that their country has been well served by European integration.
Barroso, along with all other members of the European Commission, is unelected, unaccountable, and a left wing elitist. His approach, his inability to acknowledge that he and his cronies might be wrong, exemplifies much that is at the root of the European Union financial crisis, including a sneering disdain for self-determination and a callous disregard for public opinion and a contempt for democracy.
Barroso’s dream is of big, oligarchic government on a pan - European scale, with power stripped power from national governments so that elected assembies on finction wll be to implement laws and policies handed down from Brussels. Barroso and his Bolshevik bugddies also dream of a dramatic redistribution of wealth from richer EU countries to poorer ones, from richer citizens to "the poor with a subtantial percentage skimmed off and transferred into the Swiss bank accounts of senior bureaucrats, with northern Europe overwhelmingly footing the bill for economic failures and the incompetence of bankers in places such as Greece, Spain, Portugal and Italy. An EU financial union would do nothing to address the Eurozone crisis, but it will significantly advance the power of the Commission, the unelected bureaucrats, the backroom whisperers and deal makers, over the elected governments of nation states, and would erode the ability of national parliaments to regulate their own countries’ financial systems as they see fit. This would amount to giving absolute power to an EU - wide supra - national authoroty.
The call for a banking union is the latest in a series of desperate measures being dreamed up by EU officials who refuse to concede that the European Single Currency Project and it's evil twin the Single Nation project are at the heart of the continent’s problems. Europe needs less integration, not more. The British government has made it clear that it opposes Britain being part of a banking union, which would be a huge threat to the global competitiveness of the finance sector centred on City of London, an industry on which our economy is too dependent. The EU's pushing of a financial transactions tax is also aimed at weakening Britain's financial sector so we are under attack on several fronts from the Superstate brigade.
It is fashionable among the unthinking left to respons to any mention of Britain's finance industry with a knee jerk spewing of hatred for bankers and Conservatives allike. It was however the Labour government that got us into the position of economic dependence on financial services so as usual we see that left - wing is a synonym for stupid. At the moment and probably for several decades to come the loss of the finance sector's global dominance would reduce us to the economic status of southern European and African economic basket case nations.
The delusional left will convince themselves if we all join hands and sing Kumbaya, Germany, China and the USA will step in to fund the lifestyles we are accustomed to. Well China will as always play its own game, America is in a worse economic state than we are, totally dependent on China and dreading the day the Chinses are no longer willing to fund Obama's loonytoons spending. And how much money do people seriously ima gine Germany has.
Barroso's move would require a major renegotiation of the EU treaty shifting unprecedented levels of power from sovereign nations to unelected bureaucracies, and therefore a British referendum on the issue would be unavoidable. The Prime Minister should right now take a firm stand against a dangerous development for Britain and Europe as a whole, one that would fundamentally undermine both economic freedom and national sovereignty.

Mr Johnson who was appearing on The Daily Show in New York to promote his new book on London, was asked by host Jon Stewart about Mayor Bloomberg's plans to ban the sale of sweetened drinks larger than sixteen ounces at restaurants, cinemas and sports venues.
Mr Johnson said: "What I will say is that refugees from the soda tyranny in New York will have sanctuary in London."
"I don't want to sound jingoistic, but if you do wish to come and drink soda from a 16 ounce pot, come to London. Bring your huddled masses yearning to break free."
Last week while talking to veteran talk show host David Letterman, he revealed that he "could be president of the United States, technically speaking" because he had been born in New York when his father was working abroad.

Back To Basics Policy To Save Education?

Coalition Ministers revealed their proposals for a back-to-basics curriculum for state schools, with the focus shifting away from soft subjects and abstract studies back to basic arithmetic, times-tables, spelling, grammar, reading and history.
Predictably Teachers' Union leaders warned it would lead to an unexciting "uniform education" for children. Maybe so, butonce pupils are equipped with those basics they can go on to study whatever they finmd interesting. There is little point talking about Shakespeare to kids who can't read properly or discussing nuclear physics with pupils who have not mastered simple addition and subtraction.
The Government published new draft curricula for English, maths and science in primary schools which it says will boost standards.Under the plans pupils will be expected to memorise their times tables up to 12 by age nine, multiply and divide fractions by age 11 and begin to learn and recite poetry at five-years-old.
The Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) raised concerns that politicians had presented a "heavily prescribed curriculum" that will leave little chance for teachers to excite children (with subjects like feminiost studies and gener awareness classes?) and adapt lessons to suit the political agenda of Marxist unions suit their pupils.
ATL general secretary Dr Mary Bousted said: "The detailed programmes of study will lead to a uniform education, with next to no opportunity for teachers to excite children and adapt learning to suit their pupils in their local area, developing the skills they need for life, future education and work. ATL believes that the curriculum must help all children learn and develop." Others said the new proposals contained some good suggestions, but warned that publishing details for the new primary curriculum is only half the picture.
Strange to think it was exactly this curriculum that equipped myself and my peers including colleagues here at The Daily Stirrer to go on and hsave successful and varied careers and be part of the generation that propelled the orld to advance technically and socially from the 1950s to 70s faster than it has before or since. And it was the education that provided our grandparents most of whom left school at eleven, to be a driving force of the trad uinons and the working class political movement. For all their lack of knowledge of multiculturalism they did quite a good job on behalf of the poor and underprivileged.
Brian Lightman, general secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) said: "We welcome the emphasis on English and maths at primary as these are the building blocks of secondary education. The proposals appear to be a development of the current curriculum rather than a radical change, but it is clear that it will be more rigorous. There are still many unanswered questions about how it will look in the classroom and our full response to the primary proposals will depend what the secondary proposals look like."
The Department for Education (DofE) said that the new plans, which are being published for informal consultation before a formal process later this year, are designed to "restore rigour in what primary school children are taught in maths and science."

Gas power stations are greener than wind for low carbon, Policy Exchange claims
Another "We told you so story for The Daily Stirrer. Building gas-fired power plants instead of more offshore wind farms could actually lead to greater carbon savings at a lower cost, a leading think-tank has claimed.
In a report out today, Policy Exchange argued that the government should scrap 4GW of its planned 13GW target for offshore wind generation by 2020. By building cheaper gas generation instead it could save £700-£900m a year in costs that would have been passed onto billpayers, the authors calculated.
These savings could then be invested in insulating hundreds of thousands more homes and doubling public funding for research and development into reliable low-carbon technologies, it said.
That would still leave enough money to “buy and retire sufficient carbon permits each year to reduce emissions by six times as much as the 4GW of offshore wind”.
The report also argued: “To achieve maximum overall emissions reduction and low carbon innovation, the electricity market needs to be allowed to invest in gas as a transition fuel, subject to a long-term EU emissions cap.”
Even if gas-fired power plants had to be retired early because of the EU’s emissions cap, it would still be a “far cheaper” interim solution than building offshore wind while the costs remain so high, it said.
Jenny Banks, policy officer at WWF-UK, said: “It’s ridiculous to expect that a dash for gas at the expense of building renewable generation would somehow lead to bigger carbon cuts. This is based on a very idealistic view of the effectiveness of the EU emissions cap.”
As usual common sense is banging its head against the narrow mindeness and intransigence of the science and technology lobby. these overeducated, overpaid fuckwits are totally incapable of understanding that the problem with wind is it does not always blow strong enough and sometimes blows too strongly for wind turbines to generate efficiently. And because the nuclear, coal and oil fuelled plants that must be kept as standby resources for when the wind blows either too gentle or too strong cannot be brought online in five minutes they have to be kept running, burning fuel at high cost and contributing nothing. That is pure insanity.

Driving Europe Towards Catastrophe
Remaining in the single currency is no longer a rational choice for many countries, but will the one -worlders who run the show listen?
About six months ago a paphlet bearing the title Guilty Men was published. As well as predicting just where the European Single Currency system was heading it identified the financiers, politicians and propagandists who had advocated the creation of the European single currency 15 years ago, and exposed the dishonest or even brutal methods they used to bring about this giant step towards unting the diverse nations and cultures of the European continent under a single flag; the European Federal Superstate.
OK, anyone can point fingers but that does not make it wrongs. to identify those responsible for a problem, in fact the great cop out of all bureaucracies is to say that no individual or group of people are to blame and instead assign culpability to an abstract, a busines process. As Winston Churchill told the House of Commons, in the context of appeasement in 1936: “The use of recriminating about the past is to enforce effective action at the present.” The task the authors of "GuiltyMen" set themselves was to silence and, if possible, to shame those voices in British and European public life who were initially responsible for the tragedy of the euro, those who are now saying that saving the single currency must take priority over addressing the sovereign debt problems of member nations, and therefore enable a return to sensible national economic policies.
The Guilty Men however are more brass necked than anyone could reasonably imagine. When it comes to immersing themselves in solipsistic fantasies each of them is the equal of Lex Luthor, The Emperor Ming, Dr. Evil and the Galactic Overlord in Star Wars. And they are as detached from reality as any of those fictional creations.
It must be acknowledged now the main reason for the depth and longevity of the economic and collapse that is destroying Europe is that all the policy-makers who are dealing with the crisis were advocates of the euro right from the beginning. In other words, the very people who caused the conflagration in the first place are in charge of putting it out. but instead of pouring water on it they are throwing oil on the flames. These fools are incapable of admitting they got it wrong.The sound common sense of abandoning the failed policies of the past decade and trying something differnt is unthinkable. It would be an admission of fallibility and give grounds to doubt their demented vision of a future in which all problems can be solved by collective action (or joining hands and singing Kumbaya. The only reason they will discuss for the failure of their policy of borrowing money is that national governments did not borrow enough money. They are determined that more borrowing to finance more public spending is the only way forward. Far from being driven out of public life, which is what they deserve, the creators of the eurozone crisis remain very much in charge of events in Europe, able to exercise influence over the world bank and committed to moving towards expanding the European Union to take in the basket case nations of North Africa and the Middle East. They have even identified Israel as a potential member of the Meditrranean and Baltic Union though the chances of Israel taking up its place alongside Syria, Egypt and Turkey ought to seem risible.
Let'sr some of the insane pronouncements of the past few weeks. The famous Irish Eurocrat – and Goldman Sachs International chairman – Peter Sutherland boasted in The International Herald Tribune that the euro “saved the European economy from fracturing in the economic and financial crisis unleashed by the collapse of Lehman Brothers”. This is delusional.
Or consider this remark from the witless Conservative former foreign office minister, Lord Garel-Jones, who is a managing director at the Swiss financial conglomerate UBS. Just a few days before the collapse of the Spanish banking group Bankia, Lord Garel-Jones presciently informed readers of The Times that “all the main Spanish banks are solvent”, adding for good measure that the euro is “too big to fail”. (Now where have we heard that before?
Such is the detachment of the European political class as they confront one of the largest financial crises in our history. Collectively they are quite unprepared to acknowledge failure, as this week’s call for eurobonds shows. This new financial device has been inaccurately described as a merger of the European banking system. In truth, the creation of eurobonds will be more important even than that. They would have to be underwritten in common by all Eurozone countries, making Germany effectively responsible for the debts of Greece and Spain (and, in theory, vice versa). The introduction of eurobonds would therefore lead immediately to the full economic and political integration of Europe, which has been the objective of the European political class from the very start.
Leaving aside the awesome political implications, eurobonds might indeed provide yet another temporary financial fix, once again kicking the can a few yards down the road. But they could not confront the deep structural problems which have brought about headlong economic and social collapse in Greece and elsewhere. The only lasting solution to the crisis is a total reversal of the policies being pursued by the European elite. Punitive taxes on employment, restrictive laws that inhibit the hiring of new workers by making it almost impossible to sack the idle, incompetent and bloody minded and the enthusiasm of elitist do gooders for bringing ever greater numbers of immigrants into societies that already have huge unemployment problems along with industrial policies that encourage and reward the shifting of work from human labour to machines have all contributed to the crisis.
Whenever I make any reference to the downside of technology it attracts criticism from both ends of the political spectrum. I get accused of being a leftwing Luddite who wants to return us to a medieval lifestyle and a right wing religious nut job who hates science. To be both would be quite an achievement but one that is beyond my modest abilities. It is not anti business to suggest that business must accept some responsibility for the welbeing of the communities it operates in nor is it ant- - progress to say that not all technological advances benefit us as nations. We must stay in contact with reality.
Just before completing this article I read an obituary of the writer Ray Bradbury. Though remembered as a science fiction writer Bradbury was deeply scepitical of the direction in which technology was taking us. One of his stories that made a deep impression on me told of a robot police car that arrested a man for leaving his home to go for a walk and for not owning a television. Think what such a robot might to to somebnody today who does not have a Facbook account. In other works Bradbury also predicted technology would lead to isolation and alienation.
The point of this digression is to show that we must think all round a situation. The road European and American financial policy makers want to take can only lead to the enslavement of us all and our children and grandchildren to our debts. It is time for us to take back responsibility for our lives from the state, to reclaim our individualism. Those elitists, politicians, financiers or academics who claim they are qualified to lead us have not only shown they are not up to the job they have also demonstrated they are not capable of learning on the job.

Banning Words Like "Fatty" Is Not Being Caring And Nice, It's Fascism By Stealth

A story that flew past us under the radar recently concerned the Governmen't plan to compound the stupidity of their "parenting classes" proposal for couples expecting to become or having recently become parents by introducing self esteem and body image classes in schools for pupils. Schools are the worst place to talk about self esteem and teachers, as dysfunctional and useless bunch of losers are can be found anywhere except in the cardboard cities of our major conurbations, are the worst people to teach such concepts. They have not only chosen a career in public service which is bad enough but as schoolteachers FFS. Those who can't do teach.
Such a suggestion may seem unfair to well motivated, professional teachers but there are few of those in the state system now. Many have left the profession and others have found jobs in private schools or independent academies so let's not waste our sympathy..

Spain's ruling party, only recently elected, has begun to crack under pressure, signalling for the first time that the country may need a European rescue to shore up its banking system.
Meanwhile even the mighty German economic behemoth is faltering as one of it's main customers, China, feels the pich due to Economic contraction in the USA and Europe.
While British financial markets remained closed today for the Jubilee celebrations, the German stock market fell sharply on fears of US economic relapse after last Friday's terrible employment figures and news of a sharp slowdown in China. Spanish, Italian and French shares rose slightly on hopes of new eurozone fiscal authority to control national budgets and manage debts As any such scheme depends on German financial stability a news pan European financial policy already looks a forlorn hope..

US economy loses steam as jobs growth slumps to its weakest in a year
US jobs growth has slumped to its weakest in a year, deepening fears that the world's largest economy is losing momentum just as Europe is mired in recession.
Although 84,000 Americans found jobs in the services sector in May, Friday's monthly report from the Labor Department offered little other cheer. With the housing market still moribund, construction companies cut 28,000 jobs. A further 13,000 people lost jobs in the public sector. There was discouraging news, too, from March and April as the original tally of jobs growth for those months was revised lower by a combined 49,000.
The sharp slowing in the labour market from the first quarter of the year - where monthly job creation averaged 226,000 - will not have come as a surprise to Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke who warned in April that the pace of growth would prove unsustainable without faster growth in the wider economy. As financial markets digested the weakest jobs total in 12 months, speculation intensified that Mr Bernanke will unleash a fresh round of stimulus in another attempt to shore up the recovery.
Companies hired 69,000 people in May, the lowest tally since the same month last year, and less than half what economists had forecast. The unemployment rate, meanwhile, climbed from 8.1pc to 8.2pc in its first rise since last June.
Evidence that the labour market is losing steam is particularly troubling because it has been the brightest point for the US economy over the last year. "The employment report was extremely weak," said Michelle Girard, an economist at Royal Bank of Scotland. Obama Knifes britain In The Back Again

In his talks with President Barack Hussein Obama in March, David Cameron said he had gained assurances from the White House that Washington would stop pushing for negotiations between London and Buenos Aires about sovereignty over the Falkland Islands. If such an assurance was ever given, it was as worthless as any of Obama's other promises. As Mercosur Press (South Atlantic News Agency) has reported, the US State Department is once again calling for UK-Argentina negotiations, ahead of next week’s Organisation of American States summit in Bolivia:
“Our policy is unchanged. We believe that this is a bilateral issue that needs to be worked out directly between Argentina and the United Kingdom. That’s what we are encouraging both sides to do” said Acting Under Secretary for Press Affairs at the State Department Mike Hammer during an exchange with reporters on Twitter.
Likewise “we are encouraging Argentina and the UK to work this out peacefully, to work it out through negotiations”.
This is nothing more than a reiteration of Hillary Clinton’s statement in Buenos Aires alongside Argentina’s president Cristina Kirchner in March 2010:
We want very much to encourage both countries to sit down. Now, we cannot make either one do so, but we think it is the right way to proceed. So we will be saying this publicly, as I have been, and we will continue to encourage exactly the kind of discussion across the table that needs to take place.
State Department spokesman Victoria Nuland repeated this line in February this year, telling reporters:
We believe that this is a bilateral issue that needs to be worked out directly between Argentina and the United Kingdom. That’s what we are encouraging both sides to do as we head towards this anniversary… we are encouraging Argentina and the UK to work this out peacefully, to work it out through negotiations.
Barack Obama recently declared himself to be “neutral” on the question of who rules the Falklands, which is bad enough. But he is more than just “neutral”, he has a track record of demostrating his hatred of Britain at every opportunity. His administration has always actively sided with Argentinian demands for a negotiated settlement followed by a complete handover of the Falklands to Argentina. This is a position that Britain views as completely unacceptable, and with good reason. Agrentina has never owned the Falklands which lie well outside territorial waters as recognised by international law. The Falklands were never part of the Spanish empire and prior to colonisation there was no nation of Argentina. In pre - colonial days the Falkands were unpopulated so there is no justification in the claim that the islands were owned by naitive tribes that now hold Argentine nationality Over 95 percent of the inhabitants of the Falklands are British, and wish to remain under the protection of the British Crown, they have no desire to live under the boot of Argentine tryrants, and it is a clear-cut case of self-determination. The idea that the British should sit down with the Argentines to negotiate the future of the Falkland Islands is simply idiotic.
Earlier this week the US president caused huge offence in Poland by referring to “Polish death camps” during World War Two. Just two days later his government has slapped another US ally in the face, yet again, over the Falklands. There were many of us in 2008, both American voters and people outside the USA who recognised that barack Hussein Obama was a fraud, an incompetent and an idealistifc hippy who could not distinguish between his bong dreams* and reality. Mr. Obama should remember that more than 250 British servicemen gave their lives in 1982 to liberate the Falklands following the Argentine invasion. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten by the British people, and the suggestion that what they fought for should be negotiated away for the sake of massaging an American President's ego is both insensitive and insulting on the part of the Obama administration. But then what else should we expect from a closet Marxist, closet Muslim, closet queer, closet Kenyan**.
* Bong: like a pipe but used for smoking psychactive substances
** In fact he is probaly not Kenyan, the balance of evidence suggests that prior to entering the US Senate in 2006 he had always presented himself as Kenyan because as a mediocre student he lied to University admissions departments that he was foreign born to qualify for Affirmative Action waivers on entry qualifications or to get his higher education paid for by US taxpayers. Either way, it shows he is a scumsucking little crooks and not a fit and proper person to lead the world's most powerful nation.

Rip Off Britain: Insurance Firms Inflate Car Insurance Premiums

The presidentof the AA has said 'greedy' insurance companies are inflating premiums to unjustifiable levels and ripping of car owners. Edmund King, President of the Automobile Association, told news reporters he hopes OFT and Competition Commission inquiries into the way insurance companies set motor insurance premiums will bring the cost of insurance down to "a rate that safe, responsible drivers can afford."
Drivers are paying £225m extra a year for car insurance because insurers are inflating costs for repairs and hire vehicles, the Office of Fair Trading said as it announced its intention to refer the market to the Competition Commission.
Motor insurance premiums rose by 12% between 2009 and 2010, and by a further 9% in the first three quarters of 2011, according to OFT statistics.
It has now concluded that a large part of that increase is down to insurers inflating the costs of providing replacement vehicles to not-at-fault drivers following an accident. In some cases the cost of these is more than £1,000 above the going rate.
We have witnessed too many instances of the insurance industry defrauding customers over several decades now. Car insurance rip off are morally the most reprehensible however because motorists are required by law to have insurance, the only alternatives being to choose not to drive or to risk being charged with a criminal offence by driving without insurance. Thus because a car is a necessity for most families and many commuters car insurance rip offs are not avoidable as life insurance and home insurance can be avoided by accepting the risk oneself.
The insurance firms have long been the worst crooks in the financial services industry, it is time the government put them in their place on this as they have had to in the past on fraudulent claims about the performance of investments, the sale of dodgy endowment mortgages and the notorious PPI (Payment Protection Insurance) a scam in which conditions in the small print excluded most people from cover but only those who claimed found out they were not elegible for the insurance. Others paid the full premium for the term of their credit agreement but were never covered.

High Court Says Government's Green Energy OCD Does Not Override Natural Beauty

The Government feels compelled to boost the amount of energy from renewables as part of climate change targets imposed by Europe because of pledges that have no basis in law that were given by a previous government to the smooth faced unelected bureaucrats, the internationalist Nazis whose agenda aims to create a single European superstate as a stepping stone towards the establishment of a totalitarian global government.run by elitist academics, financiers and politicians.
To met the targets Labour under the crooks Blair and Brown we will have to more than double the amount of energy from onshore wind over the next ten years and build at least another 5,000 wind turbines onshore. And these estimates come from lunatic scientists who are so insane they believe they can command the wind to blow consistently, 24 hours a day, 365 days a years (that might be a bit of an exaggeration but you know what I I getting at.)
Sea Land and Power Ltd argued that a proposed giant wind farm near Gt Yarmouth would help to meet these targets. Justice Laing however said the target cannot take precedence over natural beauty. In a judgment handed down at the Administrative Court she backed both the local councils and conservation groups in rejecting the plans.
"As a matter of law it is not correct to assert that the national policy promoting the use of renewable resources ... negates the local landscape policies or must be given 'primacy' over them,” she said.
Both Great Yarmouth Borough Council and a Government Planning Inspector recommend rejecting the wind farm, finding that further turbines in the area would threaten its character and natural beauty.
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) expressed concerns about the potential impact of the wind turbines on important local populations of pink footed geese and marsh harriers, although the charity later withdrew its objections. Most of us view a few dead birds as collateral damage but unlike the besotted scientists and addle brained politicians we are aware that if the wind does not blow at a consistent speed within a very narrow window (27mph to 50 mph) the wind turbines are not able to generate. And because we cannot ever hope to control the wind the scientists' bong dreams* are totally unrealistic and we would need to keep our fossil fuelled and nuclear generating plants going as back up for inefficient, unreliable wind power.
Mrs Justice Lang backed the objections in a vital ruling for the hundreds of contested wind farms around the country. Despite recognising the benefits of wind generated power, she said the inspector was entitled to her view that they were, in this case, outweighed by the "material harm" the development would cause to the "character and appearance" of a sensitive area. Right, well that's good but it does not go far enough. Wind Turbines are not a realistic method of meeting future energy needs though they are a reliable means for enabling unscrupulous con artists to rob the tax payers and future developments should be banned.
"This is simply a case of policies pulling in different directions: harm to landscape and the benefits of renewable energy. The inspector was required to have regard to both sets of policies and to undertake a balancing exercise".
In its planning application, Sea & Land argued the 105m-high turbines, along with supporting infrastructure, would supply power to more than 5,000 homes. Previously judges have cited the Government’s target to generate 15 per cent of renewable energy from renewables by 2020 as a reason for giving the go-ahead to wind farms so despite a bit of mealy - mouthed equivocation from the judge this is a step in the right direction. It is rare to see common sense being deployed against the egomaniacal ravings of the climate change lobby .
In a recent a, act of environmental vandalism The Planning Inspectorate gave permission to a wind farm near a 16th Century Manor Lyveden New Bield in Northamptonshire, despite protests from the National Trust and English Heritage, because of the national need for "clean energy". A spokesman for the Campaign to Protect Rural England said the recent ruling reversed this trend. He pointed out that new planning rules insist the intrinsic value of the countryside has to be considered in any planning decision – so this kind of ruling could happen more often.
We must stop these sociopathic scientists now. These crazy loons will not be satisfied until they have destroyed life on earth for no better reason that to show how clever they are.
Wind farms are based on junk science to and no more should be built and in Britain (other countries may do as they think fit. The countryside is being ruined for nothing as wind turbines contribute little to the grid. If we carry on with this policy instead of replacing obsolete coal and oil fired plants with nuclear power stations we will run out of electricity within a few years.
Earth science in the meantime is being insidiously destroyed : climatology, ecology, weather, atmospheric chemistry, even environmentalism itself. Science is being emasculated,: energy is the basis of technology; it is neither 'clean' nor 'green'. Politicians talk of "clean energy " is nonsense, all energy has an environmental cost and those that exploit sustainable sources such as sun and wind often require the most carbon intensive manufacturing processes.
There was nothing wrong, up to about 25 years ago, in power stations being fuelled by COAL, still the cheapest and best form of electricity generation. At the time of the miners' dispute in the early 80s Miners' Union leader Arthur Scargill was saying that we have only used up about 10% of our coal reserves. There is also abundant coal also in the USA, another nation afflicted by politically correct politics. In his famous 'malaise' talk on tv (which was basically about energy supplies), Jimmy Carter also said that - to cut back on oil imports - more energy could be generated from coal.
But since then the astonishingly aggressive elitist assault on fossil fuels has meant that no western power will now use coal, and by logical extension gas or oil (all fossil fuels). We are all heading for serious energy shortfalls and high manufacturing costs in the future, because even nuclear power is being heavily challenged by political activists. China and Russia meanwhile are gleefully rubbing their hands as they anticipate the demise of the western hegemony.
A study of the social, cultural and political factors that have led to this bizarre situation would be worthy of a Ph.D although the academic world too is controlled by politically correct thinkers who cannot distinguish between scientific research and the bong dreams* of hippy fantasists.. It is a collective madness that is very difficult to understand, especially as it has happened in advanced literate western societies. .
The West may never recover from this madness !

Silly Tory Minister Says Only Silly People And Extremists Want Referendum On EU Membership

A referendum on Britain’s relationship with the European Union would be “silly” and is only of interest to “a few extreme nationalist politicians,” Kenneth , the Justice Minister, silly of twat and extremist supporter of a single European superstate has said.
The Justice Secretary launched a sustained attack on advocates of a popular vote on Europe, which he described as “a total irrelevance” that would create turmoil and undermine Britain’s economic credibility. Hmm. And bunging £50 million a day into this bureaucratic cash eating machine does not damage our credibility? I see.
Frenzied Europhile Clarke dismissed those seeking a referendum as “frenzied eurosceptics”. A longstanding supporter of the EU, made the comments amid growing pressure from Conservative MPs for the Government to take a harder line on European issues.
Some Conservative MPs are arguing that a Greek exit from the euro should trigger a vote on Britain’s relationship with the EU. Some ministers are urging David Cameron to take a more eurosceptic line to address a recent fall in the Government’s popularity.
Mr Clarke dismissed those suggestions as irresponsible. What a moron, this smug, bloated Bilderberger insults our intrelligence.
The Europhiles and One Weorlders are really crazy. The Brave Class Warriors Of UK Uncut

Simon Hope is working-class hero. Who says? Well, he does for a start. Not that Simon is working class himself He is one of the exclusively middle class denizens of the UK Uncut movement which protests against the goverrnment's austerity programme and policy of cuts to public spending, although no cuts have actually been made yet though the rate of increase in public spending has been slowed.
UK Uncut are people who have decided to carry fighting the class wars of the past on behalf of the "poor" who cannot be arsed fighting any more or have decided that if being better off involves piling up a mountain of personal debt and possibly having you kids end up like members of UK Uncut maybe affluence is not all it is cracked up to be. Last Saturday Simon Hope decided it would be a fun day out for his four-year-old daughter if he took her on a protest outside Nick Clegg’s house. Yes, Simon. We can see that every 4 year old's idea of fun is to go on a political protest, wave placards, chant Trotskyite mantras and sing revolutionary songs. And it might be a formative experience for the child. Barack Obama wrote in his book Dreams From My Father that he clearly remembers Pappy Bammy taking his beloved son to a civil right protest that took place several months before Obama could have been conceived. These protests are experiences that make a powerful impression on the young.
Simon and his daughter had about 300 of their friends with them from the UK Uncut protest movement. All were exactly as self righteous and pompous as Simon, all were equally sure they were serving the interests of the great mass of people who "have no voice" although they can shout loudly enough when their team is winning a football match.
The protest was a bit pointless as Nick Clegg and his family were not at home. UK Uncut weren’t just protesting of course, they were having a “family-friendly street party”. It involved music (of a political nature), poetry (of a political nature), comedy (of a political nature), games (spot the Tory, pin the tail on the class traitor, blind person's benefit claim), and the most essential component of all street parties, a people’s assembly to discuss the alternatives to austerity.
Family friendly though? Does family friendly fun require the attendance of scores of plain-clothed or uniformed (and possibly armed) police officers? Well better that the cops were helping friendly families to have fun at a street party than sitting around drinking tea down the sstation. I mean it's not as if there are and murderers, rapists, robbers, muggers or fraudsters out there who need to be banged up is it?
Of course, everything UK Uncut was did was entirely legal, after all many of them are sons and daughters of lefty lawyers. Or it would be legal if you ignore the blockading of a quiet, suburban street without obtaining permission from the council or the consent of residents. The organisers of the UK Uncut protest have a bizarre idea of what is family fun is if their think the residents of the street found it fun to be blockaded into their homes.
The protestors' press release actually describes the event as a “secret plan” (a secret plan announced in a press release? What kind of secret is that? A caring, sharing secret I suppose.). For another, the plan involved a "clandestine (sic) rendezvous at 11.30am, in which “four groups of hundreds of people would come from different meeting points across London, before converging on Waterloo”.
Now call me oldfashioned if you like possums, but if you have a street party it's a good idea to make sure local residents of the street you're holding the party in actually want the poetry, songs, games and comedy of a political nature, the people's assembly to discuss the alternatives to democracy, don’t you? To be sure they actually want all this joyous and carefree carousing, this modern Bacchanal going on in their street. I mean, to just descend on them mob handed from four different meeting points across London seems a bit inconsiderate.
Nick Clegg probably wouldn't have wanted it if he had been at home for the weekend, according to UK Uncut he’s the “architect of austerity” and so must be a Scrooge like figure who steals children's sweets and says Bah! Humbug! a lot. Even worse he’s “a millionaire and lives in a million-pound home” according to one protester. Oh well, he's obviously Belzebub, Cthuhu and Iggy The barebum Firebobby all rolled into one then.
But what about the other people who live in that street? Well screw them. goes the UK Uncut official line. They probably live in million-pound homes too, right? But at any rate these are family homes occupied by professionals so the man of the house is not likely to be hard is he? I mean it's not as if the street is in The North or Scotland. The wives are not likely to be as fearsome as Vera Duckworth either although thry might be intimidating in a Hyacinth Bucket sort of way. And the kids will not be chavs who might torch a protestors trousers for a laugh but well mannered, privately educated children who have been taught to despise themselves because they are not black and growing up in a famine stricken African village.
So the class warriors of UK Uncut can parade their moral certainties safe in knowledge that nobody will try to shift the debate to a language that would be understood in Oldham, Bradford, Byker or Easterhouse. It's easy to be hard when you know you'll only face softlads and mollycoddled children. Well done UK Uncut, you patronising middle class bastards.

To Save Civlisation Creativity Must Triumph Over Conformity
The Daily Stirrer contributors have long argued that the baying pack of science fans all screaming that science and science alone has all the answers to our current crop of problems are barking up the wrong tree. We contend that not only does science not have the answers, scientists don't even understand the question.
For quite a long time it felt as if we were talking into the void but more and more we see other people are getting the message too. Science is not the answer, it is the problem.
To get out of the mess we are in we need to look at our situation from a completely different perspective and understand that technological advances are not the same thing as progress.

Cameron Furious At EU Plan To Tax The City

David Cameron totally lost his rag at the EU summit after European Union leaders tried to back him into a corner and bully him into agreeing to a new tax on City deals during last night's Brussels summit. The Prime Minister made clear his anger after other EU leaders tried to persuade the UK again to agree to a financial transactions tax, saying it will hit people's pensions and lose "many, many jobs".
It has been known fo9r ab long time that the scumsucking, crypto Marxist spawn of a pox whore's scab lice who run the EU have seethed with rage at the fact that so long as Britain remains one of the world's great financial centres britain will always be a world economic powert in its own right. The Bureau (c)rats like von Rompuy - Pumpy, Josef Stalin Barroso and others who run the EU are insane, power addicted world domiation freaks and want to replace the ancient sovereign nations of Europe with a federal superstate run by unelected bureaucrats so their latest move aimed at driving Britain down the same road as basket case nations like Greece, Portugal and Spain should come as no surprise.
Cameron said the six hour meeting, which broke up in the early hours of this morning, was "good" with some "innovative ideas" about boosting growth in Europe. He added: "Then there were some bad ideas too. The Financial Transactions Tax is a bad idea - it will put up the cost of people's insurance, put up the cost of people's pensions, it will cost many, many jobs. It will make Europe less competitive and I will fight it all the way."
Actually Dave it would put up the cost of everything. I'm no fan of bankers but having worked in The City (on information technology systems) I know that the proposed tax would destroy the finance industry. Banks trade is currency, commodity stocks and company shares works on tiny margins. A half of one per cent (the proposed level of tax) is more than the profit on many types of deal. This may seem a crazy way to do business until you work out what half a per cent of a billion is. Not a bad profit or a days work.
Now the bureau(c)rats delude themselves that if London's financial industry is destroyed conctrol of banking an commerce will pass to them. The control freaks are not bright enough to work out that while British (and other European economies) would suffer, the banks would not. I happen to know that several major investment banks are already prepared to relocate to jurisdictions outside the EU, so this loonytooons control freakery would actually damage Europe and benefit places like Saudi Arabia, Quatar, Dubai and Hong Kong wich already have lax regulatory systems and traditional tax havens.
The fact that the Tobin tax was pushed again, means it is likely to be a main agenda item at the formal EU summit next month, raising the real prospect of further rows and a lack of progress on talks about what to do about Greece. But then it has never been about Greece, it was always about control.
The meeting of 27 EU leaders came at the end of a day when markets tumbled across Europe on fears that an exit for Greece from the euro was being prepared. We are all aware that Greece cannot continue in the Euro and keeping it in only makes things worse.
Deputy Prime Wuss Nick Clegg tried to calm nerves by issuing comments, embargoed til this morning, dismissing talk that “a Greek exit now would be in everyone’s best interests”. In comments that will spark anger among Tory right wingers, he will say in a speech in Berlin today: “No rational person interested in the wealth and wellbeing of Europe’s citizens could advocate taking such a risk: not with Greece’s future, or our own. My own view is that that wildly underestimates the unpredictable, irrevocable damage that could be done to a monetary union when it is shown not to be permanent.”
Mr Clegg describes a “dark cloud still hangs over Europe”, warning that “the tree is falling, and we are pruning one leaf at a time”. He really has lost the plot hasn't he?

In contrast rarer volatiles which are naturally present in some home-grown tomatoes can have a major impact on the sweetness of the fruit, according to a paper published in the Current Biology journal. Read full sTomatoes gain their flavour from a combination of sugars, acids and aromas, but a new study has examined exactly how different elements influence their taste. Commercial tomato growers have traditionally focused on producing varieties with strong "aroma volatiles", compounds which easily vaporise and release fragrant molecules into the air. It was thought that as well as enticing shoppers with their pleasant smell, the tomatoes with high quantities of these compounds might also taste the sweetest.
But a study suggests that most of the volatiles which occur most commonly in tomatoes contribute very little to how much people enjoy them. In contrast rarer volatiles which are naturally present in some home-grown tomatoes can have a major impact on the sweetness of the fruit, according to a paper published in the Current Biology journal. The European Court Of Human Rights - A Millstone Round Britain's Neck

The E.U. in general is a major pain in the arse for Britain, what with Vince Cable saying we cannot throw out the European employment law that prevents employers sacking useless and disruptive workers, a law imposed on us by faceless and unelected bureaucrats; the European leaders demanding more and more money from us to prop up the basket case nations of the Eurozone and of course the pernicious and racist human rights laws of the E.U.
"Racist?" You say in amazement. "How so?"
Simply because although the founding principle of the E.U. declares that all the animals are equal, European Human Rights law, as administered by the European Court of Human Rights make some animals more equal than others.
In the latest incursion into the Britain's sovereign law making process the ECHR has decreed that prisoners in UK jails must be given the right to vote. Following a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights we are denying crims and arseholes their human rights by refusing to let them vote in elections. Under the British constitution the right to vote is extended to adults of good standing (i.e. not in prison for violating other peoples' human rights by killing or injuring them of stealing their stuff.) If our government comply with this ruling, it will do so in the face of huge parliamentary and public opposition, with MPs voting against such a measure by 243 to 22 last February.
Of course a few professional do - gooders and bleeding hearts from the stupid wings of Labour and the Lib Dems will support it as they will always unthinkingly support any proposal which claims to defend the "human rights" of society's dregs, the scallies, no marks, scroungers, work dodgers, benefit cheats, arseholes, dickheads, fuckwits and general bastards.
This is an appalling ruling and entirely from a supranational court in Strasbourg that does not possess an ounce of democratic credibility but has usurped to itself the right to trample sovereign powers underfoot . Americans, Australians and Canadians would never accept the judgment of a foreign court over their own domestic affairs, and nor should the British people. It is simply absurd that a great nation that has done more to advance the cause of liberty and freedom across the world than any other in Europe is subjecting itself to the decisions of a court that includes judges from Azerbaijan, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine, hardly countries with a sterling human rights record.
Before the last general election, then Shadow Justice Secretary Dominic Grieve rejected what he described as “a degree of deference to Strasbourg” and stated quite clearly that Britain would reserve the right to ignore European human rights rulings. This would be a good moment for the Attorney General to follow through with his pre-election pledge, and kick into touch the idea that Strasbourg has the right to dictate British law. The British government should unequivocally reject this ruling from the European Court. It should also amend Harriet Harperson's politically correct and totally unjust Human Rights Act to end the right of appeal to the ECHR, with a view to ending its incorporation into British law altogether. Now is a good time to remind readers that the Labour Deputy leader's bill contained a clause that robs straight, white people of the right to a defence if they are accused of racism Labour's idea of justice was that if a black or brown person feels anything said to them was racist then the person accused is guilty. Same with gays and lesbians; if a homosexual feels they have been insulted then the person they accuse is guilty. No defence is allowed.
This really takes us back to the justice of medieval witch hunts.
There is no valid reason why British courts should be subject to the decisions of European judges, who have little understanding of the British national interest, and whose idea of “Human rights” is often very different to that of their British counterparts. On previous occasions the European Court has acted as a major hindrance to the UK’s national security and as I write is providing a screen behind which the Islamic hate preacher Abu Qatada is hiding from deportation. Too often the ECHR has provided a last line of defence for Islamist terrorists fighting extradition or deportation. As former US Ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton put it in an interview with The Daily Telegraph's Ed West last month: does Britain wish to be a sovereign country or not?
Britain should renounce the jurisdiction of this court as we should any other attempt to rule us from Brussels. The people who run the EU are unelected bureaucrats and have made the Union an organisation that is hostile to democracy As for their competence to manage national affairs we only have to look at the ongoing crisis of the single currency to understand they might be great at form filling, paper shuffling and having meetings but when it comes to management skills they couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. In the end the question is, what do British people want to do? Do you want to be an independent nation, or do you want to be a province of Federal Europe?
This is just another example of Britain’s mistake in allowing Europe's bureaucratic institutions to extend their reach into national affairs . It is the latest in a long line of infringements on British sovereignty that undercuts our ability to cooperate with the United States a.nd our natural friends and allies in the Commonwealth.
It also calls into question the ability of Europe as a whole to be an effective partner in the war against terrorism just as it has proved to be in managing the regional economic interests.
Let's get out ASAP, vote UKIP..

If We Want Social Mobility We Need Selective Education

Every so often the question of social mobility is raised and when it does come up then inevitably the question of selective education follows on it's heels. It is entirely typical of the hypocrisy and politically correct stupidity of the left that while they bemoan the fact that the social mobility (mostly upward from working class to middle class or from "the great unwashed" to the "aspirational working class" which occurred in the 1950s, 60s and 70s has all but disappeared while simultaneously throwing the mother of all hissy fits ate the mere mention of the thing that made such social mobility possible, selective entry to grammar schools.
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg yesterday gave a speech on social mobility that was both bizarre and irrational. and contained quite a lot of Trotskyite bollocks. Here's an example:. "The Coalition Government is constructing a new architecture for policy-making that is centred on social mobility. A machinery for mobility." WTF? Even Clegg does not know what that means but her knows it is something to do with the social engineering the Lib Dems, Labour and the Conservative hold dear.
There is no doubt the Deputy Prime Minister's heart is in the right place, unfortunately his brain is somewhere up his arsehole. I'm sure, when he says that he wants children from poorer backgrounds to get on in the world he genuinely thinks he means it. But maybe, just maybe the Westminster-educated son of a banker is not quite the right person to be talking bollocks about equality. Wouldn't it be lovely if we lived in a perfect world and everybody had the privileges Nick Clegg, David Cameron and, yes, Ed Miliband too (because like his coalition opponents the Labour leader is a privately educated elitist*) have enjoyed. Then we could all join hands and sing Kumbaya and live in peace and plenty ever after. But unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world and will not restore social mobility while Clegg and his ilk will not countenance offering bright children from modest and disadvantaged backgrounds the kind of education from which he benefited.
These elitists obviously have no problem believing selective education on the basis of wealth or connections is OK for the children of stockbrokers, bankers and Marxist University Selection by being the sdon of an academic was OK for Ed Miliband. Selection by ability tp pay to go to a top school was okay for David Cameron, George Osborne, Nick Clegg and Education Secretary Michael Gove but it is not suitable for the boy or girl unlucky enough to have lost the lottery of life by being born in Moss Side, Tottenham, or Easterhouse.
If we want to recapture that extraordinary, brief, post-war flowering of social mobility when the grammar-school boys and girls like me and fatsally emerged to scale the heights of the professions, academia, the civil service, business and the media – greater selection in schools is going to have to be one of the weapons in our armoury. but while that should be a no brainer for anyone with a grain of common sense, it seems beyond the imagination of Nick Clegg and Co. who believe the way to restore that mobility is to dumb down education in the state system until even University graduated have problems with basic English and Arithmetic and to ensure no child is left behind by hamstringing the front runners.
Until it is grasped by guilt-ridden middle-class liberals, often educated privately or in good state schools which their parents accessed by moving to a nice, expensive area, that selection has a part to play and that poor people are not all victims of the system, totally unable to fend for themselves, who need to be carried through life by Nanny State, social mobility will continue to flat-line. And when my younger sister's generation of Grammar School kids are gone we are likely to be back to the situation that prevailed in Shakespeare's lifetime, when only ten per cent of the population could read properly. Because the only way of achieving the kind of equality elitists like Nick Clegg crave is by levelling down.
*Ede Miliband was actually educated for part of his school career at a state school, Haverstock Comprehensive in an expensive area of north London. Haverstock has a policy of teaching brighter pupils or those from better homes separately from the local chavs. The rest of the time he was educated privately while the family wwere abroad when his father was a vsiting lecturer. He also had private tuition to perpare him for the Oxford University entrance exam.

Electricity bills set to rise to pay for wind farm subsidies

We told you so. Household electricity bills will have to rise by up to a quarter to pay for underperformance by wind farms and other forms of renewable energy, according to a new report. The study challenges the Government claims that energy bills would fall in the next eight years due to "free" electricity from wind solar and other unfeasible science fiction sources coming online and also because of energy efficiency savings.
The Coalition government which was relying on the savings to offset the price increases caused by renewable energy subsidies. Those extra costs are added on to household bills in the form of consumer subsidies. This week the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) will publish its draft energy bill, setting out how it plans to reform the electricity market and reduce the cost to households. Thus the government is doomed. The only problem is the imbeciles of the Labour party are just as besatooted with the unrealistic claims of scientists as the Tories and Lib Dems so a new government would continue along the same road to catastrophe as wasa trodden by the Tories and Lib Dems and the Labour government before them.
Intent on showing how stupid politicians and their scientific advisers are, DECC has insisted that energy bills will begin to fall from next year and will be reduced by seven per cent - or £94 - by 2020 because of new energy efficiency policies. These include the Green Deal, which will provide loans to fund loft and wall insulation; the roll-out of 'smart’ meters to help control and monitor energy consumption; and the improvement in the energy efficiency of kettles and other appliances.
But a study of the Government’s own figures by the Renewable Energy Forum (REF), a specialist renewable energy consultancy, has accused DECC oflying through their teeth deliberately misleading the public.
REF claims its analysis of the Government figures shows that two-thirds of households, about 17 million in all, will end up worse off as a result of green energy policies even if energy efficiency targets were to be met in full. Given the track record of the indusytry that is unlikely to happen.
In a 54-page report published today (Monday 21 May 2012), REF will conclude: “DECC has made unrealistic assumptions about the use of energy efficiency measures to offset the costs to households, but even on those optimistic assumptions 65 per cent of households will still be net losers. The report states “In fact there is every reason to suppose that the efficiency measures will not live up to these expectations and that costs have been understated.”
Now it is time for voters to ask is it right that consumers should pick up the tab foir this stupid, reckless and environmentally damaging experiment in scientific fuckwittery. It does not take a genius to work out that when there is no wind a wind driven turbine cannot generate electricity. The bigger picture is more complex than that however, and more damning for the scientists and technologists who promoted this scam and for the politicians who embraced it so enthusiastically. It is not just a simple eind / no wind calculation, there has to be enough wind and for the 400 ft plus mosters that we're told are the only commercialy viable generating machines that is quite a lot of wind. Then is there is too much wind the turbines overheat so if it is really windy they have to be shut down. And they they do not like cold weather which damages the generating gubbins so in cold weather they have to be heated with electricity from the grid.

Facebooks Stockmarket Launch Fizzles Out

An old colleague who is a markets analyst analyst in the City of London, told me last night that Facebook’s shares which shot up as soon as trading in them opened and then almost as quickly fell back because they were implausibly priced given the company does not really have a business plan, relying for income on shoving more and more advertising down users throats and has a ridiculous p / e ratio of 150 : 1 Because of these factors he said, stockbrokers and investment managers were cautioning institutional clients against putting money into a company that could easily become and investment bubble.
Such recommendations came thick and fast less than 24 hours after Facebook’s stock market debut which saw its shares end the day just 23 cents higher than its float price, at $38.23, valuing the company at $104.2bn. What's wrong with that? It's insane, that's what is wrong with it Here's why it is crazy. Normally, an investor would hope to earn at least 5 per cent on an investment – ideally more, since historically, you can earn that just buying Government bonds or plonking your money in a deposit account. So for a company to be worth $104 billion, you would hope for at least $5 billion a year of profit. Really, to justify the risk of owning shares (the value of which can go down as well as up - but more likely down), you'd want more – $10 billion. In perpetuity. Every year. Sine die. Forever.
But Facebook's revenue is currently just $3.7 billion, and its profit is around $500 million per year. So the website is making less than one tenth of the profit you would hope it to earn in the long run
The Facebook launch was hyped beyond reason for months with hysterical tech heads deluding themselves that Facebook's only product, the information it steals from users and sells to advertisers purportedly to enable them to target users with personalised advertising was a money making perpetual motion engine.
Most of the advances in web technology in the past ten years have been driven by the belief that web based advertising would be a bottomless well of money into which anybody with the know how to cobble together a simple HTML page would be able to dip into at will. In fact web users have developed a level of ad - blindness that makes web advertising almost totally ineffective. And with the intrusions into our privacy by companies like Google and Facebook becoming increasingly creepy and offensive that is only going to get worse.
Transaction filings after the market closed on Friday night revealed the extent to which the banks who led Facebook’s initial public offering - in which $16bn of shares were sold to new investors - were forced to move in to the market and buy shares in order to keep the price above the $38 level. Morgan Stanley, Facebook’s lead financial adviser, ended the day with 162m shares, worth $6.16bn. Other banks including JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs also bought shares, ending the day with $3.2bn and $2.4bn holdings respectively.
In short, after stealing $16bn form novice investors, most likely tech heads who believed the hype so it's difficult to have any sympathy for them, Facebook's shares took a massive hit. Quite right too. Zuckerberg and Co are a bunch of dysfunctional arseholes, solipsists who believe the fact that they can do something makes it OK for them to do it. They should have been declared not fit and proper people to run a public company. If competent businessmen had been brought in to oversee the launch it would never have happened.
The ‘sell’ recommendations to investors will make Facebook’s stock market handlers even more nervous ahead of the resumption of trading on New York’s Nasdaq exchange on Monday morning.
“While we like the company, we’re troubled by investors’ perception of the risks,” one investment manager said. “It’s priced for perfection and that’s clearly implausible.”
Well Zuckerberg and his stupid little buddies do not think so and therein lies the problem. These are people who believe that computers think intelligently like humans, that software can me the master of the world and that those who control the information control the past, present and future. In short they are fools besotted by technology. Thus they are doomed to fail.
Despite amassing more than 900m users and tripling its profits to $1bn (632bn pounds) over the last three years, Facebook now faces the challenge of squeezing more advertising from the site without angering the users that are its chief asset. The need that Facebook will have to make further acquisitions, and a still unproven advertising model are two of the reasons why many analysts think Facebook shares are worth just $30 each. In the long run even that is likely to prove unrealistic.
Anybody thinking of putting a sizeable chunk of their hard - earned into Facebook should learn from the MySpace experience. In 2005, Rupert Murdoch made one of his greatest business mistakes: the media mogul bought MySpace for $580 million. Until 2008, MySpace was the world's most visited website, and until 2009, America's, pulling in 70 million unique US users a month. And then all of a sudden, it died, as users fled. Despite being profitable in 2005, by 2010, the website was losing money at a rate of $180 million a year. News Corporation was so desperate to get rid of it that it sold for just $35 million. Now MySpace pootles along just about where a social network should be, irrelevant but mildly amusing for the terminally bored.
The reason why MySpace died was simple: its users migrated to Facebook, which had a cleaner user interface and fewer adverts. What potential investors should learn from this is that Zuckerberg and Co are so arrogant, so afflicted with hubris they do not learn from the past, thus in the belief that users were gullible enough to fall for "targeted ads Facebook have saddled them selves with a user interface that is about as attractive as a dogs arse and a reputation for treating users privacy concerns with contempt.
But let's cut through the Facebook hype. How many of those 900 million usrs are real. Well knock off a third for duplicate and abandoned accounts Then there are so many people like me, we probably count as "regular users", but only log in to check messages once a week maybe.. Because I have websites I use the "share on facebook button" to post notifications of new posts but this is not really logging in. More and more people access Facebook through mobile phone and PDO apps which filter out the ads. Facebook does not give users a blog feature or let them post their creative work, it has never been much more than an electronic address book and photo sharing site. That's why big advertisers, like GM, are reducing their spend on the company.
And who is in control of this revenue-less, glorified address book? A Harvard nerd who is barely out of short trousers and has the most punchable face in the world, whose last big decision was to blow $1 billion on a photo sharing website few people have signed up to because the world needs another photo sharing site like you and I need another hole in our arses. When I say Zuvkerberg is in charge it may come as a shock to many tech - heads to learn that the shares being now sold to investors have no voting rights attached. You may own the shares but Mr. Zuckerberg controls the company and he can do as he pleases with your money. And when Zuckerberg founded his plaything it was not intended to be a business that made money.
Facebook has no valuable real assets, no product to sell or distribution networks which can be sold on should the -ahem, business model - fail. It's nothing but a bunch of servers in California and an egomaniac CEO. And increasingly, it is boring. Even as it spreads to Brazil and China, it's being abandoned by the western college students who made it. Honestly, I would sooner invest in Greek government debt. Or MySpace.

Parenting Classes Are Not Nanny State - They're Worse

Describing vouchers for parenting classes in England as a "nanny state" policy is "nonsense", David Cameron has said, defending another nonsensical policy aimed at extending the ability of a Orwellian Big Brother regime to reach into the private lives of citizens and control behaviour. The "parenting" (and who the fuck uses words like "parenting" except neo - Nazi public servants?) classes will be aimed at destroying family traditions and imposing uniformity so that future generations of children will be dead eyed little automatons programmed like Pavlov's dogs to obey commands from agents of the state.
Those with children aged up to five can get a £100 voucher towards parenting classes.The government has also announced a new NHS online information service for parents of very young children.
Labour said it had an "open mind" about the scheme (well they would, wouldn't they, it was their idea in the first place) but it needed to be "value for money" and reach a "wide range of parents".
Defending the policy, David Cameron said: "I think this whole debate about nanny state is nonsense. Parents want help. It is in our interest as a society to help people bring up their children."
How do we know this is a crap policy? Well Cameron supports it for one thing ... and ... if people are all such crap parents that we need help from Nanny State to look after our kids how come any of us are alive because no such help was available in the past. And how do dogs, cats and other animals go on?
The last people anyone neeeds to help with bringing up kids is the government. To quote Ronald Reagan, "The most dreded words in the English language are: I'm from the government, I'm here to help."
If the government is serious about wanting to help young parents it could contribute by teaching pupils in state schools to read properly then they would be able to follow instructions on packs of disposable nappies and milk formula.
Like the kerfuffle over same sex marriage this latest focus on parenting and childcare is a diversion from "big issues" like the flood of upshitcreekness the world is drowning in. If people cannot bring up kins without help from "parenting experts" who have never had kids themselves but have spent years in toytown universities getting their PhDees in "Parenting skills with origami" which makes them far more knowledgeable than mothers who have brought up two or three children of their own and are more than willing to pass on their knowledge to their daughters.
But in the Lab Lib Concensus bureaucratic dictatorship mothers who help their daughters are about as welcome as parents who teach their kinds to read and do sums properly. Such people are enemies of the control freak state and its tax eating servants.
For new mothers in the past help was also available from big sisters, aunts, neighbours and as a last resort, if the problem was really serious, the District Nurse. Nowadays
"community" nurses are too busy with form filling and bean counting to be available to offer advice.

G8 Leaders Will Talk About Reducing The Price Of Oil

Leaders of major economic powers including David Cameron will arrive today at a G8 summit in the USA on the back of promises to help families "struggling with the impact of oil prices." The summit, at the Camp David presidential retreat, will tomorrow discuss a US call for developed economies to release oil from their strategic reserves to try to bring down world oil prices. The White House is arguing that a European Union embargo on Iranian oil will soon start to push up prices, a potential threat to Mr Obama's reelection campaign.
"With families across the world struggling with the impact of oil prices and a fragile global economy, we must renew our joint efforts to support growth, financial stability and energy security," Mr Cameron writes in an article published today.
In a newspaper article today, Mr Cameron will hint at plan to deplete oil reserves which will reduce prices temporarily but make the developed nations more vulnerable to oil exporting nations, many of which are hostile to the west, holding us to ransome in future by limiting supplies.
The Prime Minister first discussed the oil plan with mr Obama in March, when he said the idea was "worth looking at". Diplomats said the oil plan will be discussed at Camp David on saturday morning, although no action will be announced this weekend.
Now The Daily Stirrer does not like to pour cold water on good ideas but this is not a good idea. In fact, with oil prices being the biggest issue in the USA at the moment it looks very much like a stitch up to help Obama's re - election bid. So in the end we the people are going to end up paying to get our greatest enemy, thre New World Order's houseboy, the fifth-columnist-in-chief a second term in office.

Teresa May Bullying The Boys In Blue

Home Secretary Theresa May was forced to deny her relationship with the police is beyond repair after she was heckled by delegates at the Police Federation conference. In a speech to rank and file officers the Home Secretary was trying to justify budget cuts of 20% in England and Wales, and some of the most radical reforms in 30 years.
Mrs May said police needed to "share" in government austerity measures but said change was in forces' interest. She told the reporters it was right to stick to the "challenging" plans. "I've told the federation conference the truth - which is that as a government we do have to deal with the deficit, and that means that policing has to take its share of the cuts," Mrs May said.
"It is necessary for us to look at this, for the good of policing for the future, and looking at how we can ensure police officers are able to do the job they and the public want them to do."
Some officers hoisted placards with the slogan "enough is enough" as Mrs May came on stage. She was heckled during the question and answer session that followed.
Mrs May said after her speech: [To say no more cuts are possibleIt is] "not a view that I agree with, it's the view that the Police Federation has put forward."
The federation is also unhappy with the government's proposed radical overhaul of pay and conditions, and a challenge to the existing model of policing with the privatisation of an increasing number of jobs. Although officers listened to her speech respectfully, things became heated during questions. Mrs May was jeered, heckled and, most embarrassing for her, made the subject of a joke by federation chairman Paul McKeever.
He asked people to raise their hands if they thought the Winsor report on police reform was truly independent. When Mr McKeever pointed out no-one had done so - not even the home secretary - it brought the house down. Mrs May sat stoney-faced.
It was an uncomfortable session for her but with the police facing further cuts there may be worse to come.
She told the conference: "It will only ever be police officers who make arrests; it will only ever be police officers who lead investigations; and it will only ever be police officers who direct policing operations." But she added "It's my job to do what is right for policing and right for the country and it's my job to reform policing so that it's fit to face the future.Less paperwork, more police work. More power for the public, less power for the bureaucrats and freeing the best police officers in the world to fight crime."
Officers needed to "stop pretending" they were being "picked on", she added. "Every part of the public sector is having to take its share of the pain."
The Daily Stirrer agrees with the Home Secretary. With less than one in four police officers engaged in front line duties while some senior officers openly admit that in many cities police have lost control of the steets and some sink estates have become no - go areas for law enforcement officers clearly the suits in the police force need a kick up the arse. The trick Mrs May must pull off however as must her colleagues who are responsible for education and health is to hamstring the suits to stop them preserving theirt owen pointless jobs while firing front line workers.

We're Back

Sorry about the absence of The Daily Stirrer, it turns out that on the day I was dragged kicking and screaming into hospital for "tests and observation" i.e. so a bunch of NHS idiots who are content to leave decision making to their procedures could annoy me, the Daily Stirrer server was hacked. I was only in hospital four days but needed another four to recover from the ordeal before I could get to grips with restoring our system.
So what's been happening while we were offline? Well much of what we told you would be happening, the Euro crisis staggers on with even Brussels admitting Greece will have to leave the single currency, the coalition continues to make all the same mistakes as Labour made, mainly because they get advice from the same crypto marxist academics as Labour took advice from, the American election campaign gets bitter, Obama's gay crackhead past is being taked about openly.

Horrified motorists in Nuevo Laredo -- across the river border from Laredo, Texas -- first raise the alarm when they saw the blood-stained bodies of four women and five men hanging off a bridge, along with an apparent message from a drug gang

The 14 heads were found in ice boxes outside the city hall. Election Results - What They Really Mean

As we would expect the media are today interpreting the results of yesterday's council and mayoral elections according to their political leanings. The Guardian, Mirror, Independent and Bolshevik Broadcasting Corporation say the spanking the Coalition were given at the poll predict Labour are ready to sweep back to power and stat mortgaging the nation's future in order to throw money at Muslims, Black, Irish, Lesbian, One - legged, Dwarf, Retard single parents, Gay propagandists and supra national organisations that want to sweep away our culture and sovereignty and absorb our country into a multi cultural, polititically correct, dystopian global nation.
But what really happened? Well it was a bad night for mainstream politics.
The Right leaning media on the other hand are saying it was not so bad for the Conservatives. And the Liberal Democrats have gone off, found a quiet corner and are blubbing their dear little hearts out.UKIP increased their share on the vote, independents and greens did well and George Galloway's Respect party bagged several seats in Bradford. In short, like the 2010 General Election it was a bad night for mainstream politics.
Labour supporters point to a sever percent advantage over the Conservatives but ignore the fact that with the Lib Dems still polling eleven per cent and UKIP thirteen percent if we guess how those minority party votes might be cast in a general election. We can expect to see the Lib Dems obliterated, probably only taking around 6 or seven per cent Voters who desert them are likely to be divided fairly equally between Labour and Conservatives. UKIP will do dwell in the Euro elections but voters will return to the Tories in a first past the post General Election. Thus it starts to look very sticky for Labour.
The interesting thing is what will happen if the anti-posh-boy rumblings among the Conservative grass roots come to anything. Today Boris Johnson is being touted as the likely beneficiary of an anti Cameron coup but what if David Davis makes another leadership bid offering traditional Tory policies on law and order, immigration, unemployment and the economy. Nadine Dorries is no Maggie Thatcher but Davis could be even though he has got rid of the bouffant hairstyle.

Europe's Crisis Is Going To Get A Lot More Insane

How would you go about solving your personal debt problem if your credit cards were maxed out, your overdraft wasd on it's limit and your income would not stretch to buying basics after all the interest on your morthgage and loans had been paid.? Go to a loan shark? Of course not, that should be a no brainer even for politcians and bureaucrats. But it is exactly where Europe is heading.
Euro-Lefties have been having a thin time of it recently. Only three per cent of EU citizens live under socialist or socialist-led governments. The European People's Party is the largest bloc in the European Council, as measured by voting weight, second are the European Conservatives and Reformists, who edge ahead of both the Liberals and the Socialists.
That, though, is about to change. France,a nmatuon in which the state consumes 56 per cent of GDP, even more than our own greedy government - monster, and whose budget was last in balance in 1974, seems likely to elect François Hollande who on a platform of 'growth, not austerity'. (if only achieving it was as easy as saying it) will try to create illusory growth in the economy by borrowing more and more money at ever higher interest rates and giving it away to the lazy, the shiftless and the corporations whose business is built on mining taxpayer's pockets. Greece, which also votes on Sunday, is inclining toward a pack of communist parties; the politicians there who talk openly of the need for cuts currently command less than seven per cent in the polls.Fortunately the parties of Greece's fragmented left hate each other more than they hate the bankers who screwed their country Romania, too, is about to install a Leftist ministry, following the defeat of the last government's austerity platform. As other elections follow around the poor nations of Europe, we can expect more of the same.
The invevitable result of this will be that Europe will return to and intensify all the policies that brought it to its present unhappy condition: loonytoons spending, unsustainable borrowing, obscene levels of taxation, deeper fiscal and political integration integration. Voters, protected from reality for too long by the EU's overgenerous benefits system are in no willing to accept less generous benefits and pensions. They'd rather be told what they want to hear that the money can somehow be got out of the rich. A politician who admits the truth that the rich a tiny fraction of the total population, have nothing like enough to pay for all the things that modern governments want to do – is liable to have rotten fruit, dead vermin and molotov cocktails thrown at him.
Even in the north European countries that still recognise the virtue of financial discipline the Centre-Right parties in government have done little to bring spending under control. All are running deficits that would have been catastrophic a generation ago. But like the other Elepphant In The Room, immigration, nobody wants to talk about it. For Britain, official Treasury figures show that, contrary to almost universal belief, total public s ending is higher today than it was under Gordon Brown. The left constantly scream abouut the unfairnessof the Coatolitions cuts but the Coalition asterity measures have not reduced spending by one penny. All that has been achieved is a lowdown in the rate of acceleration at which we are amassing debt.
The EU is in a downward spiral. The worse things get, the more reluctant its governments are to tackle the underlying problem of excessive expenditure. Lacking any alternative narrative, voters blame the lack of growth on 'cuts', 'bankers' and 'deregulation'. They then support parties committed to even higher spending – which, of course, exacerbates the problem. And, as if national governments were not burdensome enough, Europeans must also contend with more rules and more taxes from Brussels.
We must get out. Ignore those who say it is impossible, unless you want to live under a system of oligarchic collectiveism (see George Orwell's 1984) we simply cannot allow it to be impossible. FFS we stood up to hitler's Wehrmacht, have we become so weak we are prepared to let a bunch of penpushers in Brussels destroy our nation?

Obama Talks The Talk But Dare Not Visit Afghanistan In Daylight
Todays mainstream news papers and broadcast bulletins are full of the Superhero Barack Obama's daredevil visit to Afghanistan. The man who liberated Libya single handed and took out Osama Bin Laden (or a Pakistani pensioner with a beard) in a daring solo raid behind enemy lines stormed into the Afghan capital, Kabul, made a speech that left hundreds of Taliban fighters dead and saw others fleeing for the mountains with their arses on fire then left again all in the space of fifteen minutes. He would have stayed longer but had to get back, put out a forest fire, shore up a mountainside that was about to collapse, catch a kid who had fallen over the rail and was about to plunge into the Niagara rapids and stop a huge dam from bursting and washing away several small communities in Colarado.
No, but seriously folks ...
After landing at Bagram Airbase around 10pm local time, the Prez - Dude was delivered by a low-level, cover-of-darkness "helicopter insertion" (he got arse fucked by a helicopter? Now wonder the limp wristed one was smiling) to the Presidential Palace where a ten-page proposal which contains no specifics on funding or troop levels was signed around midnight.
So secret was the visit that the White House spent the day frantically trying to deny leaked news of Obama's imminent arrival after the puppet government in Kabul blabbed to western media. This was yet another example of seamless co-operation between Afghan and Coalition governments that perfectly illustrates the readiness of President Khazi's government to provide stability and security after the allied withdrawal..
After the signing, there was just time for Mr Obama to duck into a hangar and make a rousing address to the bewildered troops who have a big enough problem trying to anticipate which direction the next enemy attack will next come from without having to worry about which direction the next visit by Obama, Cameron or Sarkozy will come from. Then he made an address to the American nation reminding them how he was single handedly routing the Taliban on a daily basis. This was, of course, another perfect excuse for the President to remind everyone of his heroic decision to leave the golf course and sit in a corner of the Situation Room as the Navy SEALs hit the alleged terrorist compound a year ago.
Obama's autocue, said by many to be the real voice of the Presidency, is a past master at making a virtue out of absurdity, and this occasion was no exception as The One mouthed meaningless cliches about “new light” breaking on the horizon for Afghanistan, even as he gestured to the “pre-dawn darkness” in which he was speaking. Even the Presidential autocue's rhetorical skills couldn’t disguise the tail-between-the-legs ‘optics’ of the event. It was as big a public disaster as news of the Administration's billion - dollar gift to the Taliban or Michelle Obama's $30,000 spending spree in posh knicker shop Agent Provocateur.
Administration officials tried to suggest that the visit’s unusual timing was for the benefit of the US TV networks, a piece of spin so feeble it does not merit a response.
There is no doubting the wisdom of the President’s security advisors in keeping the visit secret and under cover of darkness, it is only two weeks ago that the Haqqani network mounted a co-ordinated 18-hour assault on the heart of Kabul. Unfortunately despite the gung ho speech the message of this trip was clear and will not be missed by the west's enemies: after a decade of expending blood and money in Afghanistan, the US President does not dare visit the place broad daylight.

A GP who resigned his ‘job for life’ as a partner with a Hampshire practice because of his doubts about Covid-19 vaccines has been suspended by NHS England for questioning coronavirus protocol. Dr Sam White received a letter on Friday informing him that he was suspended with immediate effect, which stops him practising as a doctor within the NHS. On Saturday he was telephoned by a senior clinical adviser to NHS England, who condescendingly called him ‘poppet’.
