Debt Tsunami Threatens Europe
by John De Roe In its annual list of financial predictions, the CEBR said a new eurozone crisis was probable rather than possible 2011. The Think Tank cited the hundreds of billions of euros worth of debt that members must replace this year. What this means in layman's terms is many bonds, the vehicles which governments use to finance their overspend, reach maturity. Bond holders who have reveived iunterst on the value of their holdings will now want to cash them in. The situation of many countries in the Eurozone means that purchasers of bonds, who are effectively lending money to those organisations issuing them are going to want higher interest rates if they are to buy new bonds to replace the ones they cash in. Similarly new purchasers are going to seek a higher return because financial instability of Eurozone nations means there is a higher risk of interest obligations being defaulted on. "If the euro doesn't break up, this could be the year when it weakens substantially towards parity with the dollar," said Douglas Williams, chief executive of CEBR. Spain and Italy alone must refinance more than Ł400billion of debt . The Daily Stirrer has warned many times it would come to this.

Maternity Care On The Verge Of Breakdown
Maternity services are close to breaking point and care for mothers is worsening, the UK's leading midwife warns in a dramatic plea over the declining state of childbirth on the NHS.
Labour wards are struggling to give women the proper quality of care under the "relentless" pressure of a record birth rate, staff shortages and increasingly complex births, says Cathy Warwick, general secretary of the Royal College of Midwives.
Writing in the Observer, Warwick warns that the situation in maternity units is so grave the ...
comment by Ed Butt:
Again we must say 'we told you so' having warned of this disaster in waiting in the maternity care departments of the National Health Service, in pre - Daily Stirrer days. Our predecessor Little Nicky Machiavelli wrote on this subject.
Once again however we are afraid we'll see the coalition government getting the blame for the mess labour made during their dominance from 1997 to 2010. We don't much care for the coalition or any other political grouping but at least let's give them a chance. It seems unfair that people as obsessed with the word 'fair' as Labour leader Ed Milliband and other leading figures in the party are could blame the Conservative governments of 1979 to 97 for all the country's ills right up to May 2010 but now accept no responsibility for their own incompetence and blame the new government for everything that is wrong with society after 13 years of Labour rule.
The breakdown in maternity care is not due to the coalition government's planned public spending cuts which have not taken effect yet but are down to the financial idiocy of Labour minister from Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, architects of the disastrous PFI schemes that tip shitloads of taxpayers money from the public purse into private pockets, the insane growth of NHS bureaucracy at the expense of front line care and the slavish devotion of Labour to academics who have spent their lives cocooned in University faculties and are thus too divorced from reality to ever see the folly of making vocational occupations like nursing into degree - entry professions.
All this move achieved apart from getting people out of the employment market and therefore off the jobless figures for a few years was to fill hospital wards with mincing queens who strut around brandishing their degrees in nursing while showing absolutely zero understanding of human nature and running a mile when a job involving anything messy or smelly needs dealing with.

Tory Backbenchers Set To Defeat Cameron On Crucial Europe Vote
Conservative backbenchers are preparing to ambush the controversial European Union Bill which goes before the Commons when MPs return from their Christmas break.
comment - by Ian R Thorpe:
And so Cameron and Clegg along with the voters learn another valuable lesson about coalition government. If this prediction becomes reality and Conservative backbenchers vote down the EU Bill because it does not contain a firm commitment to a referendum on any future proposals to transfer sovereign powers to the unelected bureaucrats of Brussels.Eurosceptic Tories will table radical changes to the legislation, which they claim does not deliver on its promise of a referendum on future transfers of powers to the European Union. If the changes strengthening the legislation are not accepted by the Government, some Conservatives said they might even vote down ...
It should be remembered that the coalition leaders, David Cameron and Nick Clegg, like most European leaders are both deeply committed to expansion and further integration of the EU member states gradually moving towards a single European government with unified taxation and fiscal policies, criminal justice systems and foreign policy. Both Cameron and Clegg have supported the campaign to admit Turkey to the EU as a full member. Only last month the EU Commission's Spanish President Jose Barosso spoke in Lebanon of a European / Middle Eastern / African economic union. For people who have to have two links before they will believe anything you can read it here too: Africa - E U tie up. Fortunately most Conservative MPs are against further integration with the EU. With Germany, France and Britain set to bear the brunt of bailing out the so called PIIGS, (Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Spain and Greece; the nations that have already or will shortly cave in under the burden of sovereign debt) do we really need to castrate ourselves by getting tied up with the middle east's terrorist states or Africa's economic basket cases. The majority of European voters say no which is why all European elections are revealing a marked swing to the right. The Unelected bureaucrats of Brussels and the big government tax eaters of member nations scenting even bigger bureaucratic empires to leach off tax revenues loudly say 'Yes,' as do the politicians who sent even more opportunities to strut the world stage and use the oxygen of media attention to inflate their egos. While we must suspect Labour's motives in opposing this bill after the party spent its ten years in power up to May 2010 pushing the expansion and integration causes. Still, if the party's hatred of those who disagree with them and anger that their sense of entitlement to power has been trodden on drives them to the hypocritical course of defeating a policy they would have supported while in power, so long as it is a policy that would have worked against the interests of the voters and in the interests of big government and the one - worlders, we should thank them. European debt markets could be hit by a second credit crisis within months as fears grow over the huge volume of new bonds that must be sold by governments and banks in 2011.
We were a bit slow off the mark when we reported on this one at The Daily Stirrer on New Year's Day, only a few days ahead of the news breaking in mainstream media instead of weeks or months as we usually manage to be.Banks alone must refinance about €400bn (Ł343bn) of debt in the first half of the year, but add in the more than €500bn European governments must replace over the same period, as well as further hundreds of billions of euros of mortgage-backed debt read full story:European Debt Markets Face Second Credit Crisis

Eurozone Debt Threat Dumbing Down Has Destroyed Respect For Academics
Academic inflation is as dangerous to any country as its financial equivalent. When university degrees no longer represent a genuine assessment of a graduate’s abilities, the whole intellectual currency is debased. In Britain, as we report today, this insidious process has reached an unacceptable level. A far higher proportion of graduates is being awarded first-class degrees and upper seconds than was ... read full story, Grade Inflation: Academia Has Lost It's Integrity A story based on the latest official education statistics (and as usual we recommend you be wary of all statistics) proves something The Daily Stirrer and other common sense driven members of the new media corps have been telling the world for some time. Government's obsession with using statistics to prove educational standards are rising is just a front to cover up the politicisation of the academic community. It starts in primary school and goes right through to higher education. One of the main drivers of grade inflation in the adademic world is money. Constantly improving results are required for schools, colleges and universities, particularly all the University of Usedtobeapoly establishments that have sprung up everywhere, to secure their funding from government coffers. With respect for teachers and the politically correct curriculum they are forced to teach at an all time low and idiotic rules preventing the imposition of discipline and order in the classroom pupils are just not learning. Thus they are arriving at University with excellent qualifications on paper but in need of remedial educatiuon in basic numeracy and literacy. Politics has no place in education but to the left everything is politics and the left has been allowed to hi - jack the education. system.

4 January, 2011VAT increase comes into effect. Left warns it will cause the end of the world.by John de Roe The increase in VAT from 17.5% to 20% came into effect today although many prices will not increase for several weeks. Labour leaders and others with a vested interest in destabilizing the coalition government are screaming that the increase will lead to a financial Armageddon and would drive the low paid into penury.Anybody who has the slightest understanding of how VAT works would know this is not the case. When the Labour government made a temporary cut in VAT to 15%, a move they claimed would stimulate the economy, it was barely noticed and the economy continued to flatline. When the VAT reate was restored last year to 17.5% the economic Armageddonists were screaming it would plunge us into a second recession. It didn't, the economy continued to flatline. So is the latest increase, made necessary by the structural deficit inherited by the coalition from the irresponsible loons of Labour's treasury team and the irresponsibility of Labour's open door immigration policy, likely to have a significant effect on the economy? I would think not. What interests me however is a remark made by Chancellor George Oborne when speaking to the media.
from The Daily Telegraph
This might indicate a fundamental change of approach by the coalition to taxation, the switch from direct to indirect taxation talked of for decades but never truly implemented. The problem with income tax is it taxes work. People do not have a choice, your money is snatched by the government before you see it. They tell us it is used to provide vital services but the NHS is funded by National Insurance and transport should be funded from the punitive taxes on fuel we have always endured in Britain. I think an analysis would reveal that most of what we hand over in income tax is spent on employing vast armies of form fillers, rubber stamp bangers and paperclip chain makers. The Chancellor said he considered the new 20 per cent VAT rate “permanent” and refused to say it would come down once the economy recovers and the deficit paid down. Mr Osborne also seized on Labour’s admission that they were still happy to raise National Insurance ahead of any VAT increase to meet deficit reduction plans. The Chancellor said that was a tax on jobs and would hit Osborne Would Lower Income Tax Before Cutting VAT
The only public service this army performs is to protect us from the true horror of how few people in the UK economy are now employed in real jobs.

Record Manufacturing Growth Boosts Recovery Hopesby Xavier Connolly
Manufacturing activity last month grew at its fastest pace since 1994 as exports drove new orders. The acceleration, reflected in the closely watched Markit/CIPS manufacturing purchasing managers’ index (PMI), was sharper than expected at 58.3 – where any figure above 50 indicates expansion. Economists were expecting ...
Thanks to the visionary wisdom of John Major, possibly our greatest Prime Minister (said Xav with tongue firmly in cheek, while the Eurozone stuggles and even the mighty German economic juggernaut falters under the burden of sovereign debt, Britain, while hardly racing ahead or setting the ground alight in our wake is pottering along with good news slightly outweighing bad.read full story Record Growth In Manufacturing
For all John Major's faults he did keep us out of the European single currency and as one of my colleagues wrote yesterday and as the wider world is beginning to realise the creation of the European Monetary System was never intended to create a stable economic community. The real agenda was the lunatic notion of crrating a European superstate. To lump Germany together with France, Britain and Holland into a political union with basket cases like Greece and Portugal was the insane policy of unelected bureaucrats intent on building an empire for the benefit of their largely faceless paymaster, the one world fascists of the Bilderberg Group. If this sounds like a Conspiracy theory here's a name. Maurce Strong. Never heard of him? He is one of the most powerful men in the world. Just Google that name and find out what he was unto throughout the 1990s and in the past decade. Thanks to John Major Britain has managed to stand aside from the chaos that was bound to be the result of trying to splice together steel hawsers and silk threads. Now because the government have been able to weaken the pound to the benefit of exports our manufacturers, under attack for so long first from Margaret Thatcher's conservatives during their war on the workers and later from New Labour who seemed to go to war on everybody except the academics, lawyers and bureaucrats who make up the membership of 'the people's party' these days are now finding the playing field being tilted in their favour. The change in the economic environment since the coalition government took power and shifted the focus from pandering to the interests of minorities, promoting immigration and expanding the public sector to supporting manufacturing, rolling back the idiocies of politically correct thinking and controlling the deficit has encouraged a spectaculr turnaround in manufacturing. One hopes this trend can be maintained and we can eventually get back to being a manufacturing nation rather than a nation of bankers, call centre clerks and property developers.

VAT Rise: Saving The Economy Or Sucking Up To The PowerfulSimon Jenkins, The Guardian:
George Osborne's VAT rise illustrates an unbending truth of politics: it's easier to raise Ł13bn from the poor than upset VIPs - an opposing view to that expressed by John de Roe in The Daily Stirrer yesterday. An intelligent argument from one of the few genuine liberals still working in mainstream media as opposed to the incoherent howling we are getting from the rabid lefties at the BBC and The Guardian.
Flu Deaths Hit Fifty This Yearby Ed ButtFlu Deaths Hit Fifty This Year More official bullshit from the Ministry of Fear and Panic. Quite what the aim of this is as most of the overbought flu vaccine from the bird flu scare of a few years ago, another pandemic that did not happen, are past their 'use by' date now and clinics are running out of vaccine. People need to be told not to panic, that (as Dr. Hilary Jones assured viewers on breakfast TV this morning, 'flu is a relitavely mild illness and only in a very small number of cases does it pose a serious threat to life or long term wellbeing. So WTF is the point of the government putting our divel like this from a doctor in the North East region:
There is a huge burst of H1N1 (swine flu) marching up the country.
We can accept a certain amount of scaremongering in the cause of Pharmaceutical Corporation's profits but that kind of thing should be a crminal offence. Sadly we are quickly learning that despite their early promises The Coalition are backing off from their promise to roll back the nanny state and allowingthemselves to be influenced b y the self serving scumbags of the academic community, control freak bureaucrats, the power seking professions and the financial inducements offered by corporate interests.“There are many more people being referred for ECMO treatment than they are used to, and there are not the ECMO beds that would appear to be required at the minute.”
Last week The Daily Stirrer reported:
... Dr Winter, a consultant in intensive care medicine at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, said there were empty critical care beds in the network that his hospital belonged to, which covers Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and Burton-on-Trent.
"I wouldn't over-egg this," he added. "Swine flu is just another form of seasonal flu, and we usually get 3,000 deaths a year from seasonal flu. Swine flu is just one of the three strains [of flu] circulating." ...
Read full story SwineFlu RevisitedThat puts the whole hype into perspective. 50 so far this winter, i.e. from the beginning of November. So if we compare that to an average year and say that we are a third of the way through the 'flu season we are heading for a year with fewer deaths from 'flu like viruses than usual. SO WHY ARE WE BEING TOLD IT'S PANIC STATIONS? HOW MANY DOSES OF VACCINE DO THE COALITION HAVE TO SELL TO EARN THEIR BUNGS FROM BIG PHARMA? Maybe it is just an example of the irresistible compulsion to waste taxpayers' money that grips all politicians the moment they assume power. If this is an example of David Cameron using his nudger it loks as if we will have to castrate him very soon.
This might throw some light on it however.

6 January, 2011Radio Telescopes Photograph Nearest Galaxy To Earthby Profanicus Maximus. We were intrigued by this story today.
A spectacular new photo of our nearest galaxy lit up like a neon sign has been captured by European astronomers using state of the art space telescopes.
Regular Readers of The Daily Stirrer will know we are somewhat sceptical about 'science.' Now there is a lot of good and valuable work done in research and development using those accumulated bodies of knowledge known as The Sciences. But when people start trying to pass off speculative research or even unsubstantiated and unproveable theories as 'science' it is a sure sign we are dealing with research grant bludgers, Nobel Prize phishers and useless twunts who plant to spend all their worthless lives in the unreality bubbles provided by universities where they can live in relative luxury without ever having to trouble themselves with a day's real work.
These prize dicks who claim to have photographed the nearest galaxy to earth are cases in point. read full story: Telescopes Photograph Nearest Galaxy Now just think about this paragraph carefully.
Both images, released as a composite on Wednesday by the European Space Agency, were taken over Christmas.
A composite... Both X rays and infra red radiation from space is absorbed... ? The view would be impossible from Earth because both X-rays and infrared radiation from space is absorbed by our own atmosphere.
from Compton's Encyclopedia.
So these 'scientists' have not photographed anything. They have taken readings of various type of radiation coming from the direction of the Andromeda Galaxy and using data generated from that have created a computer simulation of what they think the galaxy might look like ... or might have looked like 2.5 million years ago because that is when the light arriving here now was emitted.X rays are a type of electromagnetic radiation--oscillating electric and magnetic fields traveling at the speed of light. Their usefulness lies in their ability to penetrate matter. X rays have been used as a powerful probe to study distant astronomical objects. X rays, which can penetrate all mirrors, are difficult to focus in a conventional telescope, but special X-ray telescopes are designed so that incoming X rays strike deeply concave mirrors at small, glancing angles so that they can be brought to a focus on detectors infrared, designating or of those invisible rays just beyond the red end of the visible spectrum: their waves are longer than those of the spectrum colors but shorter than radio waves ...
It will be another two and a half million years before before we know whether the Andromeda galaxy was even still there when the radiation from which these simulations were constructed arrived at the orbiting telescope. Now if you bear in mind the fact that light travelles at 186,000 miles per second (in a vacuum, which space isn't) and our fastest spacecraft yet launched has only achieved speeds in the region of 35,000 mph. In one hour then light travels 670616629 miles (Yahoo answers) That is over 25,000 times faster than the fastest spaceship we have yet built. So extrapolate that and we find with current technology it would take us 67 million years to get to the Andromeda galaxy. In that time our astronauts would have forgotten why they wanted to go in the first place. Scientists claim they are on the verge of creating new methods of propulsion that will enable us to travel at speeds much closer to that of light. We would also need a whole new range of materials to withstand the stresses of travelling at such speeds. We should file these claims in the same recepticle as the ones made by computer scientists for the past forty years that they are on the verge of building machines that can think for themselves. The one where we put the stuff that is going to be recycled as toilet paper. Such claims are nothing more than research grant phishing. There would be a better chance on seeing a return on money invested in the schemes of Mr. Nibudongu Chumbawamba the former Nigerian government official who regularly seeks help in expatriating his fortune after his bank accounts were frozen by a new government. There is a big difference between the real science that can be proved by demonstration and 'science' which is all about theory, speculation, computer simulation and wasting money on things that can never produce any tangible benefits. Enthusiasts for the second kind of 'science' perhaps need 'professional help' if they really find it so difficult to get their heads round one simple fact.

7 January 2011Terror Alert Raised At Major Air Traffic Hubs
The terrorist threat level at major transport hubs in the UK has been raised to severe, it was reported today.
WANT TO KNOW WHY THE TERRORISTS CAN JERK WESTERN SECURITY FORCES CHAIN SO EFFECTIVELY?
Extra police have been deployed on the rail network and at Heathrow airport, according to the unconfirmed reports, but there was no suggestion of an imminent threat. Ed Butt writes: How American Incompetence Armed Al Qaeda an in depth report in The Guardian throws light on the chaos that existed in Iraq in the years after Saddam Hussein was overthrown. The report focuses on the looting of Saddam's main munitions plant from which vast store of weapons and thousands of tons of explosives were taken after the Ba'athist regime collapsed. No doubt the current US administation will blame the Bush government for this while supporters of George W. Bush will blame either the current Commnder-in-Chief, America's allies or the people in charge during Bill Clinton's presidency. The Daily Stirrer has not ben a fan on any recent Presidents or Prime Ministers. All the political leaders touched by this debacle since its beginnings in the first Gulf War in 1991 have been to a greater or lesser degree self serving shits. But the problem is not with them, it lies much lower down the command chain with the officers on the ground and also with education systems obsessed with politically correct thinking and with the job of turning out from our schools identical little conformists instead of individuals capable of gaining the skills and experience to make the right decisions and get things done. Politically Correct thinking, when faced with a problem refers to procedure or awaits instruction from above. The kind of people we need as miiitary officers, civil servants or business managers are those who look at a problem from all angles, make sure they understand it properly and then do what needs to be done. We did not have such people in Iraq or Afghanistan, we do not have them at home to deal with terror threats, the problems posed by climate chaos or the increasing industrial dominance of the far east. Our leaders are more concerned with same sex marriage and adoption righs, with allowing screaming queens to mince around the battlefields brandishing pink weapons with promoting people way above their level of competence simply because they have dark skin or ovaries or sucking up to Muzza religious lunatics who want to kill everybody that does not worship their god. We're fucked.

Technical Schools To Be Revived
Tens of thousands of children will be able to abandon academic study at 14 to undertake vocational training under plans unveiled last night.
Xavier Connolly writes:Up to 70 technical schools teaching youngsters practical skills from bricklaying to fashion are to be opened within the next five years. The scheme is one of the most radical shake-ups of the education system since the creation of comprehensives and is aimed at equipping a new generation of workers with the skills for business. However, the move comes amid fears that pupils are too young to decide their future at that age, and that it will create ... A move like this is long overdue. Although I lecture in engineering education is a second career, until I was in my fifties I worked in engineering. Thus it has long been very apparent to me that one of the main reasons the education system has failed pupils, and particularly boys, so badly it because it was hijacked by academics. Even practical subjects like mechanical or electrical engineerting have been taugh in a way that emphasised the abstract and theoretical over the practical and demonstrable. Most boys and young men like practical demonstarations. Show them how to take a car engine apart and put it back together and they will gain an adequate understanding of the principles involved. Show them a lot of mathematical formulae and they will turn from reality to dreams of achieving celebrity through TV shows like The X Factor. Academics, thinkers, scholars are a very important part of the structure of society whether they work in theoretical physics or ancient history. Few such people are needed in a functioning society however and few are truly cut out for such a career. In education for several decades now the emphasis has been on academic learning. We can learn from books, we can learn from practical tuition or we can learn by experience and by osmosis (simply absorbing knowledge from our environment. Academics sneer at this because such learning has nothing to do with them but it is the most important kind of learning, they way we all learn to speak our mother tongue. Bringing back the Technical Schools and taking the doers out of the deadening atmosphere created by academics is the best thing we can do for education.

Comment by Ian R Thorpe: Sensationalist reporters and race obsessed lefties are bound to try to make a mountain out of this molehill. It has been clear to most people living in North East Lancashire for some time that the Blackburn M.P. was not happy with the attitudes to British ways and customs of a section of the Pakistani community. The targeting of young white girls by Asian men has been going on a long time and when Mr. Straw uses the term vulnerable here he does not mean those with learning difficulties or physical disabilities. He is talking about those emotionally starved young women who have grown up in broken homes, deprived of a male figure or perhaps with transient male figures in their lives who were likely to behave inappropriately to the adolescent daughters of partners. This increased incidence of dysfunctional home life is a result of the Conservatives war on the working class from 1979 to 1997 and Labour's war on the family, European values and common sense before and since. Jack Straw would never have dared to criticise an immigrant community and particularly one of dark skinned ethnicity while he was a member of a Labour government. The Thought Police led by Harriet Harperson would have lynched him. Unfortunately what Mr. Straw says is true. And what is more such unacceptable behaviour is condoned by the Politically Correct Thought Police in the name of "embracing cultural diversity." Diversity my arse. It may be acceptable to fuck pubescent girls in the tribal lands of Pakistan but not in Britain. Can you imagine the howls and screams of the Politically Correct Thought Police if a young white man seduced an under age Pakistani girl. Think of the noise they make when a while male is exposed as the lover of a thirteen or fourteen year old girl (even if she is consenting) then multiply it by a hundred or more. My first encounter with the hypocrisy of politically correct thinkers came about thirty years ago. At the time I was doing some radio work part time and it being a BBC local radio station, strident left wing feminists were somewhat over represented on the staff. The worst of these was a real "all men are rapists and should be castrated" type of harridan. One day the local news was about a rape case, a British girl had been raped and police were looking for an Asian man. "Oh, they'll never catch him," Miss Castratemall said, "Asian people have this wonderful community ethos, as soon as they knew he was in trouble he would have been taken to relatives in another Asian community and he will be on a flight back to Pakistan as soon as the way is clear. They look after member of their community, its marvellous." The stupid bitch could not see that she was being hypocritical. She was the type of feminist who only needed to see a man looking at page three in The Currant Bun to go off on one about evil masculinity, but it was OK for someone from an ethnic minority to brutally rape an English girl. What horrible people lefties truly are. Never let them bully you into thinking their posturing is because they care about their causes. All they are interested in is being seen to care So that is the kind of stupidity we are up against from the left. If the political establishment do not face up to it there is going to be trouble, big nasty trouble in many areas with large immigrant communities. One for the conspiracy theorists as scientists try but fail to explain this away by saying "There will be a rational scientific explanation."The turtle dove case is the largest incident to have hit Europe so far – in Sweden 50 jackdaws were found dead. Scientists are idiots. To say they will explain incidents like this and then fail to do so or offer an explanaion so full of holes it looks like a fetishists underwear only discredits the science they use as a quasi religious crutch to prop up their certainties. Quite simply events like this are commonplace, they happen all the time. Suddenly one will get reported and then a spate of similar incidents will make the news. And then it will be old news and not get reported any more. The world is unscientific, life is not controlled by nice, neat, predictable algorithms. Inexplicable things happen but the biggest mystery is why people waste time trying to explain them. Naa Naaa Na Naa Naaa. When something like this does make the papers and scientists hysterically try to deny there is anything odd going on it only encourages those of us who know life is insane and the only way to get through it is to take nothing seriously to start having fun with conspiracy theiries. The best thing about conspiracy theories is they get sciencyheads more wound up than the odd, inexplicable events that trigger them.

America's Debt Crisis Traps Less Well Off In Depression Conditionsby John de RoeNews this weekend has been dominated by the assassination attempt on a Democratic Congresswoman and her companions in Tuscon, Arizona. As the story is everywhere there is little point The Daily Stirrer commenting other than to offer our condolences to those injured and the families of people who died in the attack. What this incident has done however is to focus the attention of the outside world on some very worrying social trends in the world's most powerful nation, namely the polarisation on political, racial and regional lines and the seething anger at most levels of American society which has led to the re-emergence of armed para - military organisations of a kind that appeals to the young man accused of the Tuscon on Gabrielle Giffords' party. The United States, having been steered onto the rocks of financial crisis by successive administrations all the way back to those of the 1960s is now sinking deeper and more dangerous crisis. Self-congratulation by the US administration and its finance department who claim they have avoided a return to the conditions that prevailed in the great depression of the 1930s is premature. We always advise readers to be wary of statistics but there are some details in the US retail chain store data for December that could be very significant. Stephen Lewis, an analyst for Monument Securities highlights figures showing that luxury outlets saw an 8.1pc rise from the same month a year ago, but discount stores catering to America’s poorer people rose just 1.2pc. Luxury retailers Nieman Marcus and Saks are booming. Sales of Cadillac and Porsche cars have rocketed by 30% yet Best Buy, Target, and Walmart have languished. Such is the effect of the Federal Reserve's policy of printing money or as they like to call it Quantitative Easing (QE). To remind you how this works, all governments sell bonds as a means of borrowing money to cover shortfalls in revenue. The government will issue a bond with a nominal face value and a guarantee to pay a fixed rate of interest on the face value. Bond traders will then buy the bonds at a discount or premium. So if a $1million, 3%, 3 year, is bought for $925,000 the purchaser gets 3% of $1million for three years, not 3% of the money they lave actually loaned to the government. What governments have been doing since the worst of the crisis in 2008 is selling bonds through one department and buying them back through another thus creating money on paper. Why are they doing this? Because nobody wants to buy bonds for a price the governments find acceptable. The more a bond's face value is discounted the higher the actual rate of interest. Through QE and ridiculously low base interest rates (the rates at which banks borrow from government) governments hoped to restart the debt driven economy by flooding the economy with cheap money the banks could borrow and would be happy to lend to already overstretched customers. This did not work. Banks simply borrowed money from governments at 0.5% and loaned it back at over 3% in the case of stable economies and up to 10% in for economic basket case nations. Now quantitative Easing is being used to try to prop up the stock market as currencies lose value and a combination of inflation (an inevitable consequence of QE) and demand drives up commodity prices. The Fed no even tried to deny that the purpose of its latest blast of bond purchases, or QE2, is to boost Wall Street, perhaps because it has so clearly failed to achieve its stated purpose of driving down borrowing costs to business / retail customers.. Ben Bernanke’s make or break strategy risks polarising America’s already bitterly divided society long before it can begin to help the poor, the long term jobless and those people who have dropped off the radar, the so called 99ers, in the industrial heartlands. The retail data can be distorted by short term influences such as bad weather, an international crisis or an apparent threat to security but it fits in with other, more solid facts. Numbers of people on food stamps have risen to 43.2m, an all time-high of 14pc of the population. Recipients receive debit cards – not stamps -- currently worth about $140 a month under President Obama’s stimulus package (I took that figure from a BBC report but it seems very low so treat it with caution). Communiques from a conference of local authority leaders (Mayors in the US) said visits to soup kitchens are up 24pc this year. There are 643,000 people needing shelter each night. Jobs data released on Friday was again shocking. The only the reason that headline unemployment fell to 9.4pc was that so many people dropped out of the system altogether. British readers will be familiar with this statistical quirk, we have had a year of hearing the jobless total had fallen while numbers in work had fallen too. It's a simple deception, limit the time a person is entitled to job seeker's allowance then shift them to a more demeaning benefit, welfare in the US, income support in the UK, and say they are deemed to be no longer looking for work and remove them from the statistics. Actual jobs in America contracted by 260,000 to 153,690,000. The “labour participation rate” for working-age men over 20 dropped to 73.6pc, the lowest the since the data series began in 1948. “Corporate America is in a V-shaped recovery,” said Robert Reich, a former labour secretary. “That’s great news for investors whose savings are mainly in stocks and bonds, and for executives and Wall Street traders. But most American workers are trapped in an L-shaped recovery.”
It is no surprise that America’s armed dissident movement has resurfaced. For a glimpse into this sub-culture, read Time Magazine’s “Locked and Loaded: The Secret World of Extreme Militias".
Covert Unit To Tackle Domestic Extremism
from The Dauily Telegraph
The paranoia that exists in government is always amusing. While for ordinary people "Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow creps in this petty pace from day to day to the last syllable of recorded time" as we get on with our lives knowing those lives could be terminated in any of a thousand ways at any moment the government and security services, the people who delude themselves we look to them for protection from all risks continue to jump from shadows, be victims of the fear and panic they spread to justify their salaries and have their strings jerked daily by the stories printed in sensationalist newspapers. The National Public Order Intelligence Unit (NPOIU), which exists to counter "domestic extremism", is so secretive that police will not confirm the precise location of its base or the identity of its head.

11 January 2011E.on Hits Energy Bills For Domestic Users
The price rises of 9 per cent for electricity and 3 per cent for its gas customers comes into force on February 4. For those that take both sources of energy from the company, their annual bill will go from Ł1,187 to Ł1,250.
John de Roe comments:An estimated 4 million e.on customers will be hit by the increase. Read full story:E.on Hits Energy Bills For Domestic Users Sharply increasing energy prices serve to remind us the global crisis is far from over, indeed it may be still in its first phase. The debt crisis has burst the bubble that was keeping western economies afloat but now we face the developing nations with their huge populations demanding better living standards in return for their labour and resources thus raising costs of both the labour and increasingly scarce resources the west relies on. At the moment we are facing increased competition for oil and gas supplies which are worldwide. When those increases filter through to the manufacturing and food producing industries we are going to face rising prices not just for energy but for everything.

13 January, 2011Retirement At 65 by Default EndsEnd Of Default Retirement Age Fulfilling a pledge in the Coalition agreement, Employment Relations Minister Ed Davey heralded the end of the default retirement age. Age campaigners have long called for it to be scrapped. But, while less than a third of firms still insist on people leaving on their 65th birthday, there are concerns among business leaders about the change. The Institute of Directors has criticised the move - featured in both the Conservative and Liberal Democrat election manifestos - for reducing flexibility for employers.
That's going to do wonders for the young jobless. The economic mismanagement of governments over the past thirty years has created a pensions time bomb. Many people who responded to the exhortations to 'save for a comfortable retirement' are now finding that having denied themselves luxuries in order to provide security in retirement for themselves, their pension funds have been eroded by inflation, stock market boom and bust economics, stealth taxes and fraudulent practices in the finance industry. Some pensioners have allways supplemented their income with part time or low paid work but if all pensioners now have the opportunity to stay in work so long as they feel able and to thus keep their savings growing who can blame them. This will only deny jobs to younger people of course. Nobody in politics or the civil service has bothered to give much thought to the age problem created by the sudden increase in average life span in the past half century. When the retirement age was set the average age at death (distorted by the two great wars of the 20th century) was under 65. When I started work in the 1960s it had risen to 68 for men, 71 for women. Now people expect to live until over eighty and longevity expert Prof. Aubrey de Grey says life expectancy is increasing by almost a year for every real time year that passes. We have to lower our expectations or find a way of employing a lot of extra people.

We're Heading For Massive Inflation - Have Governments And Central Banks Learned Nothing
Inflation is a pernicious and arbitrary tax, a tax that falls hardest on those who have done the right thing. It is, in essence, a mechanism to transfer wealth from savers to the state. 1. People don’t believe the propaganda anymore. 2. The Media have adopted a cautious route so as not to alienate half their readership. They are watching the winds of change carefully. 3. The ‘hottest year’ claim looks suspect. As Dr Roy Spencer says: “As far as the race for warmest year goes, 1998 (+0.424 deg. C) barely edged out 2010 (+0.411 deg. C), but the difference (0.01 deg. 17 January, 2011By 2015 Credit Cards Will Cost Families Ł1800 a year. Last week The Daily Stirrer warned that rising inflation meant interest rates would have to rise sharply very soon. Today as we learned that by the so called factory gate price measure infkation has gove over 4% the economic pundis of mainstream media are as usual playing catch up.
Interest rates on credit cards and loans are expected to increase by between 2 percentage and 3 percentage points in the coming four years meaning the average household will have to divert a significant chunk of their disposable income to paying their debt, accountants PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) said yesterday.
The central banks have held interest rates at insanely low levels for far too long now. from The Guardian
We have spoken out on this before and Little Nicky Machiavelli has speculated that the seemingly unstoppable advance of News International brands in their push to dominate all significant areas of UK information media was part of a deal made by Tony Blair in which New Labour would deviver media dominance to the corporation headed by The Dirty Digger, Rupert Murdoch in return for the support of Murdoch's mass circulation newspapers during the 1997 general election campaign.Alan Rusbridger, the editor-in-chief of the Guardian, today stepped into the debate over whether Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation should be allowed to take full control of BSkyB, by warning of the "chilling effect" that "one large media company can have on public life".
Giving a lecture in Murdoch's native Australia, Rusbridger said that the revelations of phone hacking at the News of the World illustrated "the nature of the problem" when one media group becomes ...

John De Roe Comments:Lord Young To Do Less Speaking -The Daily Telegraph
The problem is Lord Young is right. Thanks to the ridiculously low and if they continue much longer they will be harmfully low interest rates many homebuyers whose jobs are reasonably secure are finding they are better off than they have ever been. One must hope for their sake they are not tempted by the government's propaganda aimed at kicking off a new debt led comsumer boom to restore some growth in the economy. If they do not resist that tempation their situation could become very bad the moment interest rates start to rise. It is inevitable interest rates will rise given the inflationary pressures building in the economy and the exploding price of commodities in global markets caused in part by the collapse of the US dollar due to Obama's loonytoons monry printing policies. Lord Young was of course insensitive to say what he did while an adviser to the government. Many people are suffering because of the recession. Many more are worried because their jobs are not secure or they are unable to find decent housing because the mortgage drought is forcing up the price of rental accomodation to unaffordable levels. The nation is in a much bigger mess than anybody is prepared to say. What pisses me off about Labour's attacks on Lord Young however is the mess was entirely caused by their finncial irresponsibility. Ironically it is the working class and particularly the young working class, the support of whom is Labour's raison d'etre who are suffering mot from their incompetence in government. The middle classes whose votes Labour bought ("We a very relaxed about people getting stinking rich":- Tony Blair) are the ones Lord Young was referring to who have never had it so good. Unfortunately they eventually found Labour's authoritarianism and obsession with minority rights unpalatable and returned to the Tories. It's a funny old game, politics.

Tory Chief Attacks Bigotry Against Muslims
Islamophobia has “passed the dinner-table test” and is seen by many as normal and uncontroversial, Baroness Warsi will say in a speech on Thursday. The minister without portfolio will also warn that describing Muslims as either “moderate” or “extremist” fosters growing prejudice.
Ed Butt comments:
Up to now The Daily Stirrer has been broadly sympathetic to the Coalition government. Now we must ask, what is this stupid bitch doing in the cabinet? It is not that Baroness Warsi is a Muslim or a woman you understand but that she clearly does not know what 'bigot' means.Lady Warsi, the first Muslim woman to attend Cabinet, has pledged to use her position to wage an “ongoing battle against bigotry”. Her comments are the most high-profile intervention ...
People are entitled to hold whatever opinions they wish and to freely express those opinions in private. A bigot is somebody who is not willing to listen to the opinions of others or consider any point of view but their own. Is Islamic extremism a subject of dinner table conversation as Baroness Warsi suggests? I have to say here I have never attended a dinner party with my predominantly white friends at which the subject of Islam has been part of the conversation.
Interventions such as Baroness Warsi's in the non debate are aimed at impressing upon ordinary people that the political elite are not going to tolerate voters thinking for themselves. In other words the coalition have fallen under the spell of the Politically Correct Thought Police. Thus we face four more years of bullshit, bad government and pandering to minorities and unelected pressure groups.
David Cameron should seize on Baroness Warsi's racially provocative words to sling her out of the cabinet and to remind others who seek to subvert democracy by suppressing public debate or dictating what opinions are and are not acceptable. Britain on the whole does pretty well in terms of racial tolerance, most of us do not care about the colour of a person's skin or what kind of establishment they pray in. We take people as we find them.
Human nature is much the same the world over, in any society there will always be those who dislike foreigners or anybody who is identifiably different. We must tolerate such people as we in the majority tolerate the difference of people in minorities. There can only be one set of laws, SAME RULES APPLY, and the mainstream should not be asked, as we often are, to change the way we do things because certain minorities do not like it.
Apart from that, for Baroness Warsi's information she is well out of order. The nations of Europe are non starters in the race hate race. Most African nations perform quite creditable, especially in the genocide states but the runaway winner of the King Ed and Queen Hattie Gold Cup for racism is TA - DAAAA The Indian Subcontinent.

21 January 2011Children Are Bring Given Chemical Cosh For Shyness
Children are being prescribed mind-altering “chemical cosh” drugs for conditions such as shyness and mild social anxiety, behaviour experts have warned. Young people are routinely being given medication to treat normal childhood conditions, it was claimed, despite fears over their long-term health.
Ed Butt comments:
Ein volk. Ein Reich. Ein Bureaucracy. Naziism By Stealth.
We really must stop this bureaucratic Naziism now. The politicisation of the education system to facilitate the brainwashing of pupils with politically correct ideas and turn them into compliant, unthinking drones competely dependent on the state is bad enough. Using prescribed medication to suppress individuality however is far too much like something from the scriptwriters of The Third Reich soap opera. The disclosure came as it emerged that the number of eight- to 13-year-olds on drugs such as Ritalin has soared seven-fold since 1997. In many cases, pupils are being put on medication amid fears from parents, teachers and doctors over a serious deterioration in their behaviour. But Dave Traxson, a senior educational psychologist who works in schools in the West Midlands, warned that normal childhood conditions like shyness... read full report:Children Given Chemical Cosh For Shyness
Shyness, brashness and showing off, attention seeking, lack of concentration and other such inconvenient behaviour are part of childhood. A shy child might grow up to be the life and soul of the party. On the other hand they could continue to be reserved and not comfortable in large gatherings. Lack of concentration might indicate a child is thick (not a crime last time I checked), has a learning problem or is in fact an unusually bright child who is simply bored shitless by lessons. Children are as individual as adults. The world would be poorer if we lost Mr. Showbiz types or Chess grandmasters or the Waqyne Rooney, Brian Cox and Frankie Boyles of the next generation to the desire of bureucrats to creat a race of identical beings and the willingness of science to assist in achieving that goal. In recent years we have heard of plans to put anti depressants and cholesterol lowering drugs in drinking water, to make certain vaccines compulsory, to withdraw health care from people suspected of not eating healthily, smoking, using recreational drugs or drinking more than the recommended intake of alcohol. All this interference with our ability to make choices from free will is justied by the claim it is for our own good. But can the powers that be vaccinate us against old age, can they produce selective drugs that target only those who need them (SSRI anti depressants can have a very detrimental effect on people who are not suffering from depression and low cholesterol can be as dangeous as high) We must make a stand against this creeping Naziism now. We must halt the advance of bureaucratic authoritarianism.

22 January, 2011University Bosses Become Fat Cats As Student Fees Rise
The pay packets of Britain’s university heads rocketed by as much as a fifth last year, just as institutions lobbied for a huge hike in student tuition fees. More than 950 university staff, including all vice-chancellors, were paid more than the Prime Minister – an eight per cent increase on the year before.

Empire building in higher education is rife as is nest feathering and now in the wake of student riots as left wing malcontents tried to use the proposed increase in tuition fees as a means of destabilising the coalition government, we see the real culprits were not the Conservative and Liberal Democrat ministers but the greedy, self serving university administrators who lobbied for the increase. Once upon a time, as all good fairy tales begin, higher education was a higher plane of existence. Now, thanks more to Labour policies over the past thirteen years and the senseless obsession with targets, statistics and league tables, the folly of making universities run themselves as businesses has caused the adoption of attitudes we associate with capitalism red in tooth and claw to infiltrate the academic world. It seems that education will in future take second place to the ambitions of managers. Academics these days are overwhelmingly left wing, deficit loving, public sector expanding, new world orderists. Let's hope the voters catch on to who was really responsible for the need to increase tuition fees. It was not the coalition though we will have much to blame them for by the time we next elect a government. In this case however the culprits are Labour and the Academics.
Lib Dems Planned To Drop Tuition Fees PledgeThe Liberal Democrats were drawing up plans to abandon Nick Clegg's flagship policy to scrap university tuition fees two months before the general election, secret party documents reveal.
24 January 2011Wealthy Nation Lifestyle Links To UK's High Cancer Ratesby Ed Butt
Women in Britain are more likely to be be diagnosed with breast cancer than those in most other developed countries because of their unhealthy lifestyles, according to a new study.
Commenting on the new study Professor Martin Wiseman, medical and scientific adviser for the World Cancer Research Fund, said: “We know that people in high-income countries are more likely to be overweight, to drink a lot of alcohol and to be inactive. When you look at the list, it is clear that the countries that do worse for these factors tend to be nearer the top."Analysis of data collected by the respected World Health Organisation shows Britain has higher rates of the potentially fatal disease than the USA, Australia, Germany and Spain. In only 10 of the 50 countries assessed by the researchers do women have a higher chance of being diagnosed with breast cancer than those in the UK. Read full story: Lifestyle Links To UK's High Cancer Rates High incidence of certain cancers in the UK and other high-income countries are not inevitable and lifestyle changes can make a real difference to people’s risk, the study suggests. Sarah Woolnough, Cancer Research UK’s director of policy, said: “We do know that up to half of all cancers could be prevented by changes to lifestyle such as giving up smoking, keeping a healthy weight and cutting down on alcohol. People can also reduce their risk by eating a healthy balanced diet that is high in fibre, fruit and vegetables and low in red and processed meat. “All these things, along with taking regular exercise and avoiding sunburn, can reduce the risk of developing cancer.” While any attempt to find ways of reducing suffering is laudable we see once again here how health care has been turned into an industry. The Pharmaceutical companies that profit from the drugs that cure diseases or alleviate symptoms either own or are owned by the chemical companies that profit from making food additives, fertilizers and industrial chemicals which are known to be cancer causing agents but which find their way into our bodies by design or by chance. That is ignored however and the blame for the incidence in cancers is put on us, the ordinary people and our degenerate lifestyles. We drink too much, do not eat enough fruit and vegetables, we are idle and use various recreational drugs. And when we are warned of yet another pandemic we refuse to get vaccinated (this might of course be because we ignored the previous pandemic warnings and were all killed by AIDS, Mad Cow Disease, MRSA, Bird Flu, fish flu, wombat flu etc.) Well we know that when it became obvious the Swine Flu pandemic was not happening the World Health Organisation changed the definition of pandemic from "In many nations millions will be seriously ill and hundreds of thousands will die," to "In some obscure and sparsely populated third world country a few people will feel a bit poorly. I've been wondering however, if three cases of Swine Flu constitutes an pandemic why is there no talk of a cancer pandemic caused by man made chemicals in our bodies. Could it be the agenda of certain vested interests contains a plan to spread enough fear and panic that we will all easily persuaded to swallow enough of the shite they want to put in our bodies to ensure we are dead before we reach seventy? After all one of the problems The New World Order fears most is the exponential growth of the proportion of old people in the population and the associated dementia time bomb. The cost of providing for the old when more than half the population are past retirement age and the added cost of one on one care for those no longer able to look after themselves turns all the economic forecasts inside out.

GM Food Needed To Avert World Food Crisisby Ian R. ThorpeThe GM Foods Nazis are revving up for a good whine again. Professor Sir John Beddington said there was no scientific qick fix to the ''enormously serious'' problem of producing enough fod to feed the world's rapidly growing population in the future as we face problems such as climate change, population growth and energy shortages. He told BBC Breakfast News: ''If there are genetically modified (GM) organisms that actually solve problems that we can't solve in other ways, and are shown to be safe from a human health point of view, and safe from an environmental point of view, and they can solve problems we can't solve otherwise, then we should use them. 'The sort of problems I am thinking of are new diseases which are likely to come with climate change, problems to do with drought, problems to do with the salination of ground, we need organisms that actually address that.'' Sir John was referring to the publication of a Government-commissioned report warning that massive co-ordinated action is needed to avert global hunger on a huge scale in the future. Factors such as a rapidly growing populations in developing nations, climate chaos, depletion of ground water and energy reserves will all put even greater pressure on food production, the report will warn. The Truth Is Not Out There
by Xavier Connolly There is no hope of finding alien life in space because conditions on all other planets are too hostile, a leading astronomer has claimed. This goes against recent, almost hysterical claims from research grant phishing astrophysicists who claim the 'photographs of neighbouring galaxies' (in fact CGI images constructed from measurements of radiation coming in from certain parts of outer space) have 'proved' 'the truth is out there' and there could be many planets capable of supporting life in the closest galaxy alone. This closes galaxy, the Andromeda galaxy, is two and a half million light years away which means light emitted from there now will not be seen on earth for two and a half million years. Light travels at an estimated 186,000 miles per second, about 25,000 times faster than the fastest space vehicle humans have so far made. So if we set off now, with current technology we would reach the Andromeda galaxy in 67.5 million years time. I know life expectancy is increasing but not that much. Howard Smith, a senior astrophysicist at Harvard, made the claim that we are alone in the universe after an analysis of the 500 planets discovered so far showed all were hostile to life. Dr Smith said the extreme conditions found so far on planets discovered outside out Solar System are likely to be the norm, and that the hospitable conditions on Earth could be unique. “We have found that most other planets and solar systems are wildly different from our own. They are very hostile to life as we know it,” he said. He pointed to stars such as HD10180, which sparked great excitement when it was found to be orbiter by a planet of similar size and appearance to Earth. But the similarities turned out to be superficial. The planet lies less than two million miles from its sun, meaning it is roasting hot, stripped of its atmosphere and blasted by radiation. Now this is a big assumption. The Universe is claimed to consist of approximately 100 million galaxies each containing a hundred billion stars. Don't ask me who counted, but maybe we should put that person on our first intergalactic space probe as they would have to have cracked the immortality thing. So Dr. Smith is basing his calculation on a tiny sample of stars that have orbiting planets. There are many sciencyheads (people who are so addicted to science their brains are addled by the obsession.) Science is their religion and they are determined to suppress the questioning of people still enough in possession of our mental faculties to be healthily sceptical of anyone who tries to win their agruement by the appeal to a higher authority; "This is Science, no intelligent person would question it." As such a sceptic, and a horse racing enthusiast I have to say that having analysed the form scientifically my opinion is to give these 'scientists the kind of research funding they are asking for in the hope of seeing a return would be like betting one's life savings on a three legged horse in the Derby.

The Bank of England is at risk of losing its credibility over inflation, one of its senior policy-makers has warned, in a speech which flagged up the division within the central bank over climbing prices.

GM Frankenfoods versus Thomas Malthus.Yesterday we commented GM Food Needed To Avert World Food CrisisThe GM Foods Nazis are revving up for a good whine again. Professor Sir John Beddington said there was no scientific quick fix to the ''enormously serious'' problem of producing enough fod to feed the world's rapidly growing population in the future as we face problems such as climate change, population growth and energy shortages. He told BBC Breakfast News: ''If there are genetically modified (GM) organisms that actually ...
Daily Telegraph science writer and self confessed nerd writes on Beddington:
It’s nice to see two classic scientific scare stories facing off. We’ve read a lot about both over the years, and both have been the subject of a lot of media-led panic, and now they’re being set against each other in a battle to the death. It’s a bit like Alien vs Predator, except it’s real life. Frankenfoods vs Thomas Malthus. Yes, Professor Sir John Beddington, the chief science adviser to the government, has suggested that genetically modified (GM) crops are our best hope to keep the growing population of the world fed. “In 20 years’ time, the world population is going to be sky high, demand for food, demand for water, demand for energy, is going to be way up there,” he told the BBC. “The population of Africa is scheduled to double over the next 20 years. We need to be thinking about making agriculture more effective, dealing with the problems of water, dealing with the problem of energy. “There’s no one simple solution. GM may be the answer for certain problems.” People have been predicting the world’s population outrunning our ability [ .read full story]
In reply to Chivers usual "Science Is The Messiah" sermon The Daily Stirrer's Ian R Thorpe comments:
I wish you 'science' fanatics would rid yourself of the delusion that science has a magic wand. The face off with GM foods is often between yield and durability. You seldom get higher yield and better resistance to drought and disease from one process. In fact achieving one often comes at the expense of another. GM crops are still mostly water but also need nutrients. More of the crop means more water and more nutrients (fertilizer) are needed to make more vegetable matter. Reserves of ground water are depleting rapidly, overuse of chemical fertilizers are blamed for polluting those water reserves in many places. As GB Shaw said, "Science is always wrong, for every problem it solves it creates two. So to rephrase your question (equally sensationally) to readers, "Would you rather starve or die of thirst?"

Bank Of England Says Living Standards To FallFamilies will see their disposable income eaten up as they “pay the inevitable price” for the financial crisis, Mervyn King warned. With wages failing to keep pace with rising inflation, workers’ take- home pay will end the year worth the same as in 2005 — the most prolonged fall in living standards for more than 80 years, he claimed. Mr King issued the warning in a speech in Newcastle upon Tyne after official figures showed that gross domestic product fell by 0.5 per cent during the final three months last year. Britain Still Vulnerable To Double Dip Recession Comment by Ian R Thorpe: The news today that UK economic performance is slipping back into recesssion comes as no surprise. In fact we have never been out of recession since 2008, even if the official inflation figures were anywhere near correct and in spite of the $billions pumped into the banking system by Gordon Brown the UK economy has not grown at a higher rate than inflation during any accounting period. In effect this means the economy is shrinking in real terms, a view that will be understood by most householders as they plan their monthly budget. At the same time we are still borrowing money each month to finance the burgeoning deficit and yet still lending at insanely low interest rates to the banks so they can buy the government bonds that will cripple any infant recovery with interest payments. Talk of a dounle dip recession is misleading. We are still in the first dip.

28 January, 2011Trouble Escalates In EgyptThe Guardian: Egypts Biggest Protests YetThe DAily Telegraph: Thousands Of Protesters On Cairo Streets At the time Barack Obama made one of his famous speeches in Cairo his suppoters hailed it as a great move towards building bridges between the west and the Islamic world. A couple of years later Palestine is still on the verge of meltdown, Iraq is frangmenting into ethnic and sectarian microstates, Tunisia is in turmoil and Egypt is trying to overthrow its undemocratic remine. The addle brained stoners who cling to the belief that Barack Hussein Obama (real name Barry Soetoro) can walk on water are praising him for 'inpiring the oppressed people of the Islamic nations to rise up and throw off the yoke of tryanny.' It is a phrase so cliched and meaningless it could have been voined by Bammy himself except that he never has written anything by himself. Reading, rather poorly it must be said, from an autocue, is all he does. What the priests and followers of The Cult Of The Obamessiah are not mentioning is that in all these Obama inspired rebellions against tyrants who are usually quite well disposed towards the west, the alternative government that are emerging are Islamic fundamentalists who are hostile to western culture and business and intent on setting up Islamist Theocracies. It loks like Barry has succeeded where George W Bush failed by kicking off Wold War 3. Good work Barry, keep it up.

Fears Over Teacher Shortages
by Xavier Connolly Figures from the Department of Education show the number of graduates applying for secondary teacher training courses strting in September is 9.3 per cent lower than at the same time lasy year. To make the situation worse teacher training in certain key subjects is struggling even more to attact new career entrants. Applications for places on Mathematics teaching courses are down by 14 per cent, while demand for science has dropped by 18 per cent. Other subjects are experiencing an even more more dramatic decline, with applications to teach design and technology down by 38 per cent. Demand for business studies courses has dropped by 26 per cent. Officials in the Education department fear the slump numbers of people interested in teaching as a career could leave schools with a shortage of teachers in some subjects – forcing them to put classes in the hands of staff lacking in expertise. The Daily Stirrer says if the government is serious about reversing this decline they must first get Politically Correct thinking out of the classroom and then be brave enough to give teachers back the authority to enforce disciplie in classes.

Although this situation is very dangerous for world peace and economic stability it is quite amusing to watch addle brained lefties in Britain and America cheering the Arabs for throwing off the yoke of authoritarian tyranny and moving towards Obama style, New Labour style 'participative democracy' (i.e. the government tells you what to do and you participate through your unquestioning obedience. Do these ideologically brainwashed fools not realise the only sufficiently well organised group capable of taking part in free elections in Egypt is the Islamic Brotherhood. Their vision for Egypt's political future is as an Islamic theocracy like the one which emerged in Iran after the Americans had stirred up a revolution. Make no mistake, this nastiness on the Nile is Barack Obama's baby. The jug eared streak of piss who imagines himself President of The Entire Universe And Everything Else Besides made a much hailed but very ill advised speech in Cairo which sent the message to dissidents and malcontents in the middle east that if they rebelled America would support them. Now the imbecile President may well be a closet Muslim, a closet gay and a closet British citizen according to some of his critics but he certainly is, as has ben demonstrated, a terrorist loving revolution loving, Western civilisation hating Trotskyite. And like most Trots, Obama is an arrested adolescent. He loves the excitement of revolution just as he loves signing new, unpopular acts of Congress into law. But he loathes and fears responsibility and so dithers and tries to blame everyone else when he is called upon to show leadership. That is why the Egyptian crisis can only end badly for the west. The Arabs know Obama will not act. Russia and China, both busy extending their influence in Africa know Obama will cave in as soon as they stand up to him. One thing we have to acknowledge about George W. Bush is the God bothering, trigger happy son of a bitch would have protected western interests even if he had to blow up the whole middle east to do so. Obama will call for talks. And while he is talking the wests competitors will be shafting him.

Researchers Discover Protien Protacts Against Prostate Cancerby Xavier ConnollyWe have always been pretty sceptical about 'science', particulary the kind that substitutes theory, speculation and mathematical modelling for observation and demonstrable results. For this position we have often been criticised, refered to as 'young earth creationists' (we are all atheists actually) and told that as we are not scientists we cannot understand science. The first thing that made us suspicious of the people who talk about 'science' is the way they overuse the word, just as fundamentalist Christians say Jesus far more thn they need to. Yes, for many people science has become a religion. That is not to say however that there is no longer any good work being done by researchers. Here's a story that shows the best advances are bing made by people using a more traditional approach to their research.

Would You Eat Meat Grown From Grey Goo?by Ian R. ThorpeAnd folowing that example (above) of good science here's an example of the science we at the Daily Stirrer do not like.
(Reuters) In a small laboratory on an upper floor of the basic science building at the Medical University of South Carolina, Vladimir Mironov, M.D., Ph.D., has been working for a decade to grow meat.A developmental biologist and tissue engineer, Dr. Mironov, 56, is one of only a few scientists worldwide involved in bioengineering "cultured" meat.
What's wrong with this race to grow meat in laboratories is it meets no human need but only serves corporate and political greed. When the scientists talk of harm done to the environment by the traditional 'on the hoof' method of growing high protein, high energy food (meat) they use the usual scientific trick of reductionism. They only look at one tiny aspect of the problem. It's a product he believes could help solve future global food crises resulting from shrinking amounts of land available for growing meat the old-fashioned way ... on the hoof. Growth of "in-vitro" or cultured meat is also under way in ... Read all:American Scientist Reveals Lab Grown Meat
We know that beef cattle are destructive grazers and pasture once grazed by domestic cattle takes a long time to recover. We know that deforestation carried out to provide extra grazing land so that Big AgriBiz can meet the growing demand for meat harms the environment. What we are not told is what would the carbon footprint be for the huge, half acre sheds stacked with high tech machinery that would be needed to create edible food products from grey goo. What we are not told is why alternative meat supplies are not being developed from animals that do not need such rich pasture and are not such destructive grazers. The North American Bison is equipped by evolution to do well on the poor, fibrous grasses of central uplands in the USA and Canada. Reindeer (Caribou) give us delicious meats and are equipped by evolution to thrive in the arctic conditions of northern Canada and Alaska, Siberia and northern Scandinavia. African Wldebeeste are ideally suited to the harsh environments of that continent, so much so they have to be culled. Again they are a good food source. These vast, unused land areas could be put to good use and thousands of jobs created for agricultural workers instead of a handful of jobs for white coated pointy heads to supervise armies of machines. There is no doubt that the laboratory grown meat would be perfectly wholesome and fit for human consumption. The question mark that hangs over projects like this belongs behind the great question Cui Bono? Who benefits? We must start putting the needs of humanity ahead of the need for power and control of corporations and the craving for fame and admiration of scientists. There are a million better, cheaper ways of solving this problem than by growing our food in giant petri dishes in industrial big shed laboratories. So the whole project is another costly, pointless exercise in control freakery.
