UK Tax Policy Unfair On Families

by Ian R Thorpe

Middle class families in which one parent stays at home to look after the children pay more than a third extra in tax in Britain than those in other Western countries, a report in The Daily Telegraph has found.

UK Tax Policy Unfair On Families
Throughout the past three decades the wages and tax system have been skewed to make it difficult for a family with children to live comfortable on the earning of one psrtner while the other brings up the children. Tax breaks for married couples have been eroded while housing costs have put many couples off having children.

This attack on the family was begun by Margaret Thatcher's Conservative government as part of their war on the working class and continued after 1997 under Labour in their authoritarian push to make people more dependent on the state.

The Coalition should be onto this one. If they could redress the position they would no longer need to worry about unemployment as many people who are forced to do jobs they hate to keep the family afloat would siimply leave the employment market.

David Cameron was speaking at the Welsh Conservative Assembly yesterday. What he said will be welcomed by businesses. The question is, can he deliver?

David Cameron has pledged to confront the "enemies of enterprise" in Whitehall and town halls across the country, attacking what he called the "mad" bureaucracy that holds back entrepreneurs. The prime minister, who was criticised for failing to outline economic ...
Cameron Promises To Free Business From Red Tape

Bureaucratic stupidity and instransigence have hamstrung British business for a long time. The Public Service however is the natural home for control freaks and if David Cameron and his coalition do find the balls to take on Buggins and the bean counters they are up against a formidable opponent.

If Mr. Cameron can live up to his pledge to confront the "enemies of enterprise" in Whitehall and town halls around the country, attacking what he called the "mad" bureaucracy that holds back entrepreneurs he will be doing the nation a huge favour and securing his positioon as Prime Minister. It will mean taking on the dark forces of the New World Order and the thugs of the Politically CForrect Thought Police of course.

The prime minister took some flack for failing to propose economic growth plans after last year's autumn spending review, and has moved to recover lost ground by promising to place the promotion of enterprise at the heart of the Spring budget on 23 March.

In one of the strongest attacks by a serving prime minister on the civil service, Cameron yesterday made it clear that he shared the frustration of Tony Blair, who famously claimed in 1999 that he bore "scars on my back" from those resistant to change.

The prime minister, who said that enterprise was about morals as well as markets, listed three "enemies of enterprise' in a speech at the Conservative spring forum in Cardiff:

• "The bureaucrats in government departments who concoct ridiculous rules and regulations that make life impossible, particularly for small firms."

• "The town hall officials who take for ever with planning decisions that can be make or break for a business – and the investment and jobs that go with it."

• "The public sector procurement managers who think that the answer to everything is a big contract with a big business preferred supplier and who shut out millions of Britain's small- and medium-sized companies from a massive potential market."

The Premier said: "Every regulator, official and bureaucrat in government has got to understand that we cannot afford to keep loading costs on to business because frankly they cannot carry the burden any more. And if I have to pull these people into my office to argue this out myself and get them off the backs of business then believe me, I will do it."

The chancellor, George Osborne used his speech on Saturday to announce the creation of 10 enterprise zones and will unveil changes in the budget to give small- and medium- sized firms more opportunities to tender for government contracts.

"We're throwing open the bidding process to every single business in our country – a massive boost for small businesses, because we want them to win at least a quarter of these deals," Cameron said.

The speech revealed the influence of Andrew Cooper, Downing Street's new director of strategy, who starts his new job on Monday. Cooper is said to be drawing up a vision for the future to show that the government has plans that go beyond deficit reduction.

The prime minister said he was positive about the future because Britain is the home of entrepreneurs. He then launched a strong defence of his recent trip to the middle east on which he was accompanied by 36 British business leaders, including eight from the defence and aerospace sector.

"I know some people are disdainful about selling Britain to the world," he told his audience."They see me loading up a plane with business people and think: 'That's not statesmanship, that's salesmanship'. I say this: attack all you want, but do you think the Germans and the French and the Americans are all sitting at home waiting for business to fall into their lap?"

The government’s NHS reforms will return medical care to the standards of the 1930s and 40s, a leading doctor has warned. NHS Reforms ' Will Return Health Care To The 1930s'

Doesn't the plight of senior doctors make you weep. Did you know we, the public, their employers are so unreaonable in our expectations we expect them to get their arses in gear and do a few hours work a couple of times a week.

What they are afraid of is that in the 1930s and 40s Doctors were actually expected to examine patients, diagnose problems and define a plan for recovery rather than just attending meetings and signing repeat prescriptions.

TheYoung Must Hope For A Housing Crash

It Makes Sense To Hope For A Housing Crash
by John de Roe

The burden of student debts imposed on young people by a misguided education policy that has left the nation with a surfeit of media studies graduates and a shortage of practical skills is also having dire social consequences in other ways. The Labour government's student loan system which accompanied their insane push to get 50% of school leavers into ~University education is making it virtually impossible for many young people to even hope to earn sufficient to enable them to pay off student loan debts let alone think about buying a house. This trend could push the average age of first time buyers up to 44, according to mortgage provider Scottish Widows. Even if you suspect the insurer of alartmism – because less saving is bad for its business -this forecast is deeply worrying not just for people relying on a recovery in the housing market but for the economy as a whole. While the Coalition Government emphasises that student loans will not need to be repaid until earnings exceed Ł21,000, anyone who believes these debts are any less debilitating for being deferrable is living in cloud cuckoo land. While the parents of todays students bought their first home at around age 27, the graduates of tomorrow will find that the Student Loans Company has first call on any savings they may accumulate. And, lest they forget who has first claim on their money before they even see it, HM Revenue & Customs will take it from their salary at source.. Will these young couples be able to think of starting their own families given the burgeoning cost of raising children? And, seeing as the government is always telling us to save fort retirement what will student debts do to people's hopes of building up a pension fund. Serious saving for retirement typically begins in early middle age, money paid into a scheme too early will be eroded by inflation, but graduates in future will be lucky to get started much before the age at which many of their parents retired. On top of that, due to rising life expectancy employers are washing their hands of pension provision and various Ponzi schemes run government are already reneging on promises and talking about raising retirement ages. If we are creating a generation of people who simply do not save it is clear that people who want to get onto the property ladder will not be able to make the commitment to saving at an early enough age to make paying off a mortgage a realistic proposition. It is not practical for people today to put aside huge amounts of money given their commitments and material expectations but even so it is vital for society that saving does not become a lost art.” That may turn out to be a forlorn hope when economists as diverse as the Governor of the Bank of England and the Resolution Foundation report declining disposable wealth and the worst economic outlook for decades. The best survival strategy for students in future will be to avoid degree courses that do not offer a high probability of a lucrative career. They will face a much tougher employment market than any their parents faced after graduation. So who would blame young people for hoping the housing marker will collapse further from its current low. Only lower real prices in an inflation ravaged economy that will reduce in real terms the burden of debt can improve their prospects. It is a consummation devoutly to be wished. No wonder websites such as housepricecrash.co.uk are proving increasingly popular and are now, perhaps somewhat counter-intuitively you may think, supported by advertising from leading house builders. Free market solutions are unfashionable among many students who tend to be supporters of Labour and even further left parties on the ideological fringe. The market however may still offer their best hope of knowing the security of bricks and mortar so many of their parents benefitted from.

Millions Will Never Be Able To Save

by John de Roe

Four out of ten people in the age range from 45 to 54 have found themselves unable to save any money in a retirement fund because of the twin financial burdens of aged and infirm parents and young adult 'boomerang' children who have set out to make their own life and because of poor career prospects, housing costs and job insecurity have boomeranged back to the shelter provided by Mum and Dad. This age group is becoming known as the "sandwich generation". They are failing because of financial pressures to take advantage of tax breaks and make additional voluntarty contributions to their pension savings according to the an insurance industry Savings and Investment Report.

The 45 - n54 age bracket has the highest number of non-savers across the whole spectrum according to the report, an estimated 3.5 million people across Britain.

It is not just the middle aged who finding it difficult to save in the current economic climate however. Despite common preconceptions, it is not those on the lowest incomes that are struggling most to save, but people on middle incomes between Ł20,000 and Ł30,000.

A third of these middle income consumers are failing to save anything at all, in fact many are falling deeper into debt – and of those that are saving, more than half are tucking away less than 5% of their salary. Rising living costs are cited as the reason that middle income earners are unable to live within budget and save money. The the added burden of recently withdrawn benefits has eaten into the surplus of many families with young children.

In the past year child tax credits have been cut and the situation will only worsen as child benefit is withdrawn for families with a higher rate tax payer – even if the other parent receives a lower or no wage at all.

Ian McGowan, Head of Savings and Investments at Scottish Widows said: "It is unsurprising that the financial crisis has impacted upon people's savings behaviours, but the concern is that this has created a generation of people who simply do not save. It is vital that this new group of non-savers are made aware of the serious impact that this could have on their quality of life."

John Major Joins Supports Move For Military Intervention In Libya

As the uprising against the rule of Muammar (Mad Dog) Gadaffi looks increasingly likely to turn into full scale civil war and a humanitarian crisis former UK Prime Minister Sir John Major has joined current leader David Cameron and other European leaders in calling for military intervention to save the Libyan people from the irrational dictator's wrath as he desperately tries to delay his inevitable downfall. In a barely coherent interview Gaddafi has told western journalists his people would die to protect him. he also denied there has been any fighting in Tripoli. He claims his people love him and Al-Qaeda's 'drugs' which were responsible for the uprising are beginning to wear off. The American ambassador to the United Nations said Gaddafi is 'delusional' and not fit to lead his country. This, from the nation that has propped up Mad Dog's regime for decades shows just why American foreign policy is a mess. Has it taken them 40 years to understand Gaddafi is bonkers. As the situation in Libya worsens Major backed David Cameron and other Western leaders who as they consider ordering military action against the Gaddafi regime amid fears that the Libyan dictator could resort to using chemical weapons against his own people. The former Prime Minister told journalists he believes the option of military force should be available if Gaddafi refuses to step down and continues to order military attacks on his own people. He said that the use of military force should be a last resort and should only be used if supported by overwhelming international support through the United Nations. One voice that has remained silent throughout the Libyan uprising is that of U.S. President Barack Hussein Obama. Is this just typical Obama dithering or that he is too busy with his punishing schedule of cocaine parties and rent boys. Or might the fact that Obama had no problem supporting the rebellion against the largely secular government of Honsi Murbarak in Egypt but will only criticise Gadaffi in the most vague general terms be because Gadaffi is an Islamist. Either way it is fortunate the west has men like John Major to fill the gap created by the preening posing man who loves to style himself the leader of the free world not actually having much enthusiasm for the tasks and responsibilities of leadership.

Shoppers Are Latest Victims Of Rip Off Britain

Shoppers Are Latest Victims Of Rip Off Britain

Supermarkets are ripping off British shoppers by ramping up food prices ahead of inflation, the investment bank UBS has warned in a new report. It is not long of course since the leading supermarkets faced a government inquiry into allegations that they were operating a cartel. According to the Swiss banking giant's figures commodity price inflation over the past few months would justify a 3pc-3.5pc increase in the price of processed foods but supermarkets have raised prices by 6pc-6.5%. Paul Donovan, an economist with UBS and co-author of the report, said: "The study suggests there may be a raising of margins in the supermarket secto. Prices are rising in excess of what is justifiable because of cost increases." The study suggests that such profiteering by supermarkets was adding up to 0.5 percentage points to the official consumer price index of inflation, which is currently running at 4pc. The research also revealed shoppers were noticing sharper rises in food prices than in other categories of consumer spending. According to the UBS figures, food prices in Britain are rising at an annual 4.9%, compared with 3.6% in Germany, a eurozone average of 1.8pc and a US increase of 1.5pc. Consumer experience reflected in opinion polls suggests the public perception is food prices are icrasing more quickly than any of these indices. The pound has ben weak in curency markets for some time and this is contributing to the higher-than-average UK increase, as 18pc of food consumed in the UK is imported, but the currency's weakness is helping exports and a recovery in manufacturing industry. The anomalous rate of inflation makes Britain the OECD country "most vulnerable" to political interference, Mr Donovan said when commenting on the report. While UK food prices are rising more rapidly than most other OECD economies' food prices, and have significantly outstripped food retailers' cost inflation it is the ordinary people who are bearing the brunt of the sacrifices involved in rebuilding the economy. The weakness of the coalition government's position will give oppposition Labour spokespeople whose party are responsible for running an unsustainable public sector deficit and failing to regulste the finance industry properly thus creating the financial crisis, the opportunity to blame the coalition for the hardship voters are enduring. It is to be hoped then that coalition ministers will act against supermarkets. The leading retailers ought to come under political and media scrutiny to cut prices over hpow much they collude in fixing prices. RELATED POSTS: Shoppers Are Latest Victims Of Rip Off Britain

UK Manufacturing Growth Maintains Record Progress

UK Manufacturing Growth Maintains Record Progress
The rapid recovery in British manufacturing industries held at its record level in February and factory costs rose little on theJanuary survey's level, suggesting inflationary pressures are continuing to build in the economy

The Markit/CIPS Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) stood at 61.5 in February, unchanged from a downwardly revised 61.5 in January. That was the highest since the survey began in January 1992 and above the forecast of 61. Signs of robust growth in manufacturing combined with rising manufacturing costs could strengthen the case for the Bank of England to raise interest rates sooner rather than later to relieve inflationary pressures. Consumer price inflation is running at double the official 2pc target and looks set to rise further, while interest rates have been at the insanely low rate of 0.5 percent since March 2009. "Input cost and output price inflationary pressures remain elevated, which may raise a further eyebrow amongst the members of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee," Rob Dobson, a senior economist at Markit said. The PMI's price index's growth was led by rising prices for raw materials such as cotton, energy and metals. Output prices rose for the 16th consecutive month in February with the steepest increases in chemicals, food and drink and timber. Tuesday's survey showed that employment in the manufacturing sector grew at a record pace in February. New orders in February eased slightly from a 16-year high in the previous month, although the reading was still among the highest in the survey's history. Overall good news for manufacturing but expect rough times ahead as unemployment will increae due to the cull of non - jobs in the public sector before the 'real jobs' sectors of manufacturing and commerce are able to take up all the slack

EU Equality Laws End Cheaper Car Insurance For Women EU Equality Laws End Cheaper Car Insurance For Women
Women face higher costs for car insurance premiums following a decision by the EU to ban using gender-based pricing for financial products. Rises of up to 25% will hit women drivers while men will find payments they receive from their pension plans will decrease. The European Court of Justice in Luxembourg has ruled that using differences between men and women as a risk factor in setting premiums for car and medical insurance and pension schemes breaches EU rules on equality. This latest bureaucratic lunacy to emerge from the world's biggest insane asylum undermines the methodology traditionally used by insurers to determine premium and payment levels by using the law of probabilities. The Daily Stirrer has little time for the insurance firms, we have seen enough evidence to know they are as big, if not bigger a bunch of thieving scumbags as the banks. But FFS, the EU in the name of 'equality' are helping them steal from us. Taking the gender of the insured individual into account as a risk factor in insurance contracts constitutes discrimination, the court's ruling said in a statement. The verdict which will take effect from December 21 2012 (the day the world is due to end according to some) will force changes in the current standard insurance sector practice basing insurance rates on statistics about differing life expectancies or road accident records of the sexes. Women could face an increase of up to 25% in their car insurance premiums because of the judgement, while pension income for men could fall by between 5 and 10%. Men benefit from higher annuity rates as, statistically, they don't live as long as women. Experts criticised the ruling and said that that premium prices are likely to be volatile for the next few months as insurers monitor their new business and adjust their pricing in response to experience. Matt Morris, senior policy adviser, at LifeSearch said: “This is a horrible mistake by the European Court. It is essential for insurers to use gender to calculate risk based on solid actuarial evidence and statistics. It is price differentiation, not discrimination, as it is not a decision that comes down to the whim of an individual. The consumer will now suffer. Prices will go up across the board as insurance companies try to build in the new risk.” The idiocy of this politically correct ruling lies in the way it allows politically correct nonsense to override sound business practice. Gender associated differences are not based on prejudice or a desire to impose inequality but on the law of probability. Women pay less for car insurance because they are generally safer (not necessarily the same thing as better) drivers while men statistically die younger than women. Thus the insurers are better at ensuring equality, drivers pay not according to their wedding tackle but the risk they pose while pensioners returns are calculated to be the same overall at estimate time of death. Obviously if someone lives to 110 years old they do well out of their annuity provider but last time we looked longevity was not gender related. Doctors Too Quick To Prescribe Fever Medicines For Children

by Ed Butt

Once again we see the healthcare industry of which too many GPs, hospital doctors and medical researchers are part is more concerned with furthering the interests of their business partners the drug companies than with offering proper care to their patients.

Because of the numerous scare stories generated by the health cartel, the Swine Flu pandemic that never happened being the most recent, a culture of "fever phobia" has developed in the societies of developed nations. This often means parents too frequently demand medicines to bring down even quite slight temperatures, say the paediatricians, who warn that children often receive accidental overdoses as a result.

High body temperature is one of the body's ways of fighting an infection, according to a report published today by the American Academy of Pediatrics, so to bring it down artificially could actually prolong a child's illness.

Doctors also are too ready to prescribe medicines, known collectively as "antipyretics", and to advise parents to use them according to the report. The advice is the conclusion of a study the results of which indicated that children given paracetemol before age 15 months were more than twice as likely to develop asthma by their sixth birthday as those not given it.

Writing in a clinical report on fever and the use of paracetamol and ibuprofen in children, the report warns: "Combination therapy with acetaminophen [paracetamol] and ibuprofen may place infants and children at increased risk because of dosing errors and adverse outcomes, and these potential risks must be carefully considered."

Doctors are advised to begin "by helping parents understand that fever, in and of itself, is not known to endanger a generally healthy child. It should be emphasized that fever is not an illness but is, in fact, a physiological mechanism that has beneficial effects in fighting an infection." Fever slows the spread of bacteria and viruses, enhances white blood cell production, the report says, and "actually helps the body recover more quickly from viral infections".

Despite this it is reported that "Many parents administer antipyretics even though there is either minimal or no fever."

Half consider it to be a fever even if a child's temperature is not higher than 38C (101.4F), they report.

Rather than try to educate parents a lot of doctors are happy to advise then to give paracetamol and ibuprofen alternately - known as combination therapy - believing side effects are very rare and not dangerous. The report warns: "Unfortunately as many as one-half of parents administer incorrect doses.".

Universities Should Not Be Asked To Repair Society

Universities are being asked to “repair the problems of 18 years of upbringing and education” by skewing admissions in favour of poorly performing pupils, according to a leading headmaster. How fucked is British society if universities, the breeding ground of political correctness, multiculturalism, the equal rights industry and so many other plagues that afflict modern society are being asked to sort out the problems they have worked so hard and so long to create.

We Can't Even Shout At Louts In The Age Of Sensitivity

Melissa Kite in The Daily Telegraph

You've been holding the line for a call centre for half an hour, pressing buttons and selecting options and after a thousand petty frustrations you finally get through to a human voice and the dam bursts. You can't help it, you express your displeasure, and what does the voice on the other end say? "Stop shouting." Which only makes you more upset, and before long you are accused of something called "verbal abuse" and cut off. But it's not just the call centres that are wrapped in cotton wool. Oversensitivity is spreading to every area of our society. The other day a man pulled up alongside me as I was riding my horse and deliberately revved his engine. So I swore at him and this yob, who had been quite prepared to land me on my back in the road, got out of his car in order to declare himself offended. "How dare you swear at me," he said, in a pompous tone. Even more depressing, however, is the news that ...

Big Banks Do Well Out Of Sleazy Little Acts Of Thievery
Europe's biggest bank, HSBC, said it had made a promising start to the year but despite the strong figures the shares fell 3pc

Analysts said the profits were about $1bn lower than expected and Stuart Gulliver, the chief executive, had cut the bank's long-term return on equity target to 12pc-15pc from 15pc-19pc.

Oh tough, it makes your heart bleed doesn't it? How do you think the banking giant made its profit? By stealing from us of course.

Financial advice helplines have been getting a lot of complaints that credit card bills paid by cash or cheque several days before the due date are consistently not being cleared until a day after they are due, thus the cardholder despite making every reasonable effort to pay the bill on time incurs a late payment penalty.

Sleazy little scams like thiis have become commonplace as the fucking crooks bankers try to recoup the stupendous amounts they lost gambling on toxic debt derivatives. Such brilliant businessmen are these warthog felching bloodsuckers financial wizards that such sleazy little acts of theivery are the only way they can think of to turn a profit on their crooked dealings. Voters Cool On Change To AV

The Daily Telegraph seems to think the voters do not care about the referendum on a switch to Alternative Votes in General Elections and this will mean a 'No' vote even though the Conservatives are showing little enthusiasm for supporting the 'No' campaign.

We think that although AV is a poor substitute for proportional representation and will do little to change the outcome of elections votes might just see it as a chance to give politicians a kick.

Voters Don't Give A Damn About AV - Benedict Brogan, Daily Telegraph

The Daily Stirrer focuses on the things that primarily concern British and to a lesser degree European and American web users. Thus again today we find ourselves skipping over Lybia - we are aware of possible economic consequences for the west but can't comment until we know if Gadaffi will hold on to power or if a secular, theocratic or military regime will succeed him. We do have links to some op - ed on the situation but focust on cuts and inflation ourselves.

Shock, Horror! Coalition Spending Cuts Cuts Will Mean 50,000. NHS Job Losses

Predictably the left are screaming about the claimed 50,000 jobs that will have have to be axed by NHS trusts across the nation to meed government budget reduction targets. What NHS managers are doing however is following in the footsteps of Labour controlled councils and rather than losing the candy - floss jobs created by empire building bureaucrats are slashing front line services to punish users of the service for not re-electing a tax and spend Labour government to lick the boots of Public Service union fat cats, run up ever larger deficits to increase the burden of debt on future generations, expand the already bloated public sector (and thus the empires of Public Service Union chiefs) and increase inflation while devaluing savings and investments. 50,000 non jobs are a drop in the ocean compared to the total waste in the public sector.
A Union-funded website reveals big job losses across the NHS, despite coalition MPs' election campaigns to save services.

Interest Rates Must Start To Rise Very Soon

by John de Roe

The Daily Stirrer has warned you to brace yourselves for rises in interest rates. As it is the Bank of England has kept rates at an insanely low level for far too long in the face of evidence that their policy had completely failed to achieve its stated aim and boost the economy.

Now with the economy stagnant, the jobless figures flatlining but likely to increase as public sector jobs are shed and inflation gathering momentum the Bank has achieved the opposite of its utilitarian aim to do the greatest good for the greatest number. It will do the most harm to the greatest number.

The only mitigating factor is that most of our international competitors are up the same brown, smelly creek and are also lacking the traditional method of propulsion

Another Bank Of England Bosee Calls For Interest Rates To Rise
Bank of England chief economist Spencer Dale has joined Martin Weale and Andrew Sentance in calling for an interest rate rise, minutes from the latest Monetary Policy Commitee meeting showed on Wednesday.

Mr Dale's call for a 0.25pc increase with Martin Weale, who voted for a rate rise last month, came as Andrew Sentance, the most outspoken of the hawks, called for interest rates to be increased by 0.5pc (50 basis points), at the MPC meeting held between February 9 and 10.

The minutes also suggested that some of those opposed a rate hike this month would consider if it if the economy shows signs of ...

Inflationary factors are going to be around for a very long time so it seems unlikely even very substantial rate increases, which would hit mortggage holders very hard, will be sufficient to hold down prices.

Oil Price Climbing
US oil futures hit their highest price for 2-and-a-half years today, on concern that unrest in Libya could spread to other top oil producers in the region and cut output further. Violent clashes in Libya have resulted in at least three oil companies halting output in Africa's third-largest producer, which pumps 1.6m barrels per day (bpd), or nearly 2pc of global supply. The disruptions mark the first reduction in oil supply stemming from a wave of protests that have swept through the oil-producing Middle East and North Africa. Investors fear for the potential impact on the flow of oil from top exporter Saudi Arabia if it suffers ...

Ian R. Thorpe comments:

There;'s the rub. What will happen in Saudi Arabia. Even more pertinent to the west's future circumstances what will happen to Israel. The imbecile in The White House, Sidi Barack Hussein Obama, is quite sure that the Arabs are rising up against their tyrannical rulers as a result of a banal and vacuous speech he made in Cairo rather than in protest against rising prices, food shortages, unemployment and corruption and that once the autocrats are gone everybody in the world will join hands, sing Kumbiya and then live in peace, prosperity and harmony in the global nation of Obamaland for ever more. In reality, a place Sidi Obama has seldom visited, the pro - western autocrats are likely to be replaces sooner or later by anti - western autocrats, our oil supplies will be disrupted, prices of everything will rise and our lifestyles will be drastically downsized. In Europe many people (apart from those working un public sector bureaucracies where it is possible to believe money grows on trees) have acepted to future will hold less material benefits and lives based on religion or existential thinking are making a comeback. Can anyone see that happening in America where the Calvin inspired Southern Baptists believe worldly wealth is a measure of how much God loves them? I think not.

Shake Up For Adoption Process Stop Social Engineering

Outlining the adoption guidance being introduced, the minister said: ''At the moment, the system simply doesn't allow many of those people who are desperate to help the chance to give young people and children a loving home.

High Blood Pressure Patients Wongly Diagnosed

Currently, anyone suspected of having high blood pressure is diagnosed by a GP with an inflatable arm cuff. Doctors then call the patient back for additional readings, but these are always taken at their surgery or in hospital. The result of this was usually that the patient, who might have only gobe to the GP's surgery to get some penicillin for a minor infection is put on drugs that have very unpleasant and debilitating side effects and told they must take those drugs for the rest of their life. It has been acomplaint of patient support groups for many years that doctors are given incentives to act in the interests of drug companies rather than patients.

New draft guidelines to be published today by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (Nice) says as many as one in four patients experiences a surging pulse rate on entering a GP’s surgery. This nervous response, termed “white coat hypertension”, is attributed to nervousness at the prospect of seeing a doctor, we think it can also be cause by fear and loathing at finding oneself surrounded by ocotogenarians who have the demmeanour of flesh eating zombies. Whatever, the phenomonon can significantly raise blood pressure readings and many people are wrongly diagnosed as being in need of medication.

The new guidelines will ensure people are tested in a less hostile environment before they are put on medication.

The Good New Is The BSE Epidemic Is Over. The Bad News Is We're All Dead

If you are over thirty you will recall the BSE fear and panic. Like Swine Flu, Bird Flu, AIDS, MRSA and many other similar evil diseases it was, according to science, going to kill 199% of us and leave the rest to survive as best we could in a post apocalyptic dystopia.

The first hint of catastrophe came a quarter of a century ago. In October 1987, David Brown, a Vet and writer on agriculture for The Sunday Telegraph described in his column “a mystery brain disease is killing Britain’s dairy cows and vets have no cure”. A few months later, he disclosed that the government had launched an inquiry into what was now being called bovine spongiform encephalopathy, or BSE. By the end of the decade, the media were referring routinely to “mad cow disease”, and a chilling new phrase had entered the language. Scientists came up with all sorts of theories about what might cause the disease but none was ever proved.

The Mad Cow Disease fear and panic pandemic was attributed to cannibal cows, organic phosphate insecticides sprayed on pastures, alien death rays being beamed at us from space and dogdy hamburgers and hot dogs. Hysteria really took off when a few humans developed a brain condition which though not necessarily the same (especially in the fact they it affected humans not cows) had some symptoms in common with mad cow disease

The BSE epidemic cost us billions, and devastated the British farming industry. Now, that plague is at an end. A few days ago, in New Scientist, we described how just 17 cases were recorded worldwide in cattle last year.

Unfotunately we are all dead except the vegetarians. We must be as the science said we would be and science cannot be wrong because it is very clever stuff done scientifically by scientists. Still at least we now know why Swine Flu did not kill us all.

Acohol Abuse Will Kill 250,000 A Year Unless Governmnt Acts say Control Freak Doctors

by Ed Butt

As many as a quarter of a million people will die from alcohol abuse over the next two decades unless the Government takes the problem as seriously as it did smoking, health experts have warned.

Deaths from liver disease have doubled in Britain in recent years while other countries such as France have seen “profound” falls thanks in part to “strict” rules on marketing drink, a strongly-worded article in The Lancet claims.

Academics say that total deaths from the “wider harms” caused to society by alcohol.

Read all:Acohol Abuse Will Kill 250,000 A Year

Quarter of a million a year (a fantasy figure pulled out of thin air) or quarter of a million over two decades, 12,500 a year. Whoever wrote the press release on this is a tad lacking in basic numeracy. If you need an idea of how bogus and fraudulent these figures are justy think the estimated number of deaths from alcohol is around half the total number of deaths per year. So get this nuber the crooks and liars of the medical fraud industry must have ascribed every death from old age as being a direct reslt of that person's drinking no matter how moderate a drinker they were.

The point about scare stories like this is we know excessive drinking does us no good but with individuals having such widely different levels of alcohol tolerance who can say what is harmful. Also alcohol is not the only cause of liver disease so we can never point to a single factor as a cause. Scientists are fond of parroting 'correlation does not prove causation' when anyone quentions their sweeping assumptions and wild guesses. so one would hope they'd display a better understanding of cause and effect.

If there are several environmental factors known to cause a fatal condition it is unscientific to point that the one that will serve a political agenda to put blame on.

We will all die and should be free to choose how we live, even if those choices shorten life. Anyone of us could have our lives sniffed out at any time. For scientists to pretend that if we all comply with their diktat we can live forever is both dishonest and shows they lack the intelligence to understand the implications of eternity if they think anyone would want to love forever.

The enlightenment philosopher David Hume nailed it when he said on learning of his terminal illness, "Then I seek a speedy dissolution. It is better to die while in posession of one's faculties than endure a few more years of increasing decrepitude."

As we have predicted along with many libertarian bloggers, the control freak wing of the highly illiberal 'progressive liberalism' movement, that section of society we have dubbed populist authoritarians, having succeeded in demonising smoking, a habit 20% of the population indulge in are now setting out to do the same with drink.

Using their favourite techniques of cherry picked and misrepresaented statistics they are trying to instil fear and panic into an increasingly deaf public about the imminent apocalypse 'alcohol abuse' (to these pusillanimous puritans an occasional small sherry is binge drinking) is set to bring upon us.

Sir Richard Thompson, President of the Royal College of Pedagogues Physicians, said: “How many more people have to die from alcohol-related conditions, and how many more families devastated by the consequences before the Government takes the situation as seriously as it took the dangers of tobacco?

“We already know from the international evidence that the main ways to reduce alcohol consumption are to increase the price and reduce the availability of alcohol, yet the government continues to discuss implementing marginal measures while ignoring this evidence.

What utter fucking bollocks this pompous quack is talking. We know that the French, Spanish, Germans, Portugese and Italians are all bigger drinkers than the British with the Czechs people of the slavic nations and Russians in a different leauge. People get one life, it is up to them how they live it. More and more the medical professions are showing themselves to be in the service of the New World Order whose social engineers would enslave us and whose scientists would turn us into unthinking automatons.

Do we ever see any fear and panic stories from The Royal College Of Quacks and Charlatans about how many people die from over prescribing of approved pharmeceutical drugs every year. I think not. Paracetamol is known to cause liver damage yet my doctor has been trying to bully me into taking the maximum dose every day for years despite the discomfort I experience being mostly manageable so I only need ocasional pain relief from medication.

We should say to this self serving physician, "Fuck the fucking fuck right off Dr. Fucking Thompson. It is not long ago the medical profession were suporting schemes of Big Pharma to put drugs such as cholesterol lowering statins and anti depressant drugs in drinking water to medicate the entire population whether they have a medical need for such drugs or not. Many of us are willing to fight to retain our right to decide for ourselves what poisons we put in our bodies."

Fortunately since the demise of the authoritarian Labour government we have heard no more of these plans. With the coalition's grip on power is so fragile public opinion can call them to heel a lot more effectively.

Council Fat Cat On Ł500,000 A YearThe Daily Stirrer had learned that highest-paid public sector employee last year was the outgoing head of one of the country's smallest district councils.

54 year old Phil Dolan trousered Ł569,000 of taxpayers' money in salary, pension and redundancy payments after accepting a gloden nandshake deal to leave his post as chief executive of South Somerset district council. He is now working as a freelance consultant for other local authorities.

According to our information two more executives at the tiny council also figured in the top public sector fat cat's list receiving more than Ł300,000 each in salary, pension and severance payments last year.

It means every resident of the district paid the equivalent of Ł7 in council tax last year just to fund the three men's emoluments. This sort of revelation puts into perspective the leftie's wailing and gnashing of teeth about how the coalition's spending cuts. No government gets it all righ all the time and the cuts, that are urgent and necessary if the economy is to avoid being drowned in a flood of public secor debt, will no doubt create some injustices.

But if on balance they squeeze out the people in the public secor who have made lucrative careers out of building bureaucratic empires and fleecing the taxpayers then overall they will do us all a favour.

Instead of racing towards the first hurdle here Little Nico stumbles over the starting line by showing he and other G20 attendees have failed to understand it is the obsesseion with global economic growth in a world of finite resources that is the cause of all our problems.

Rising prices pushed up by the climbing costs of raw commodities present a "social issue" , Sarko argued in a rallying cry to avoid the "hunger riots" he sees looming. He exposes the weakness of his own argument there buy his failure to understand the inexorable rise of comodity prices is driven by increased demand from a burgeoning world population and the elevated expectations of people in developing nations.

Mr Sarkozy called for the meeting to work towards a "global strategy aimed at… ensuring food stability" as he formally opened the two-day meeting of leaders. The G20 countries together account for 85pc of world economic output.

France wants greater transparency and regulation of the commodities, currency and futures markets so that prices are driven by market forces and not by derivitatives traders and short sellers manipulating prices.

Workes Hit By Wage Cuts As Prices Rise

by John de Roe

Earnings have dropped to a five-month low, the Office for National Statistics said. Average weekly earnings in the UK stood at just 1.8pc against a notional base in December 2010, down from 2.1pc the month before. Workers were paid an average Ł456 a week in total in December.

The figures come on top of yesterday's news that according to the consumer prices index (CPI) inflation surged to 4pc in January, double the Government's target. On the retail price index (RPI) which is reckoned to be a more accurate measure of the weekly or monthly cost of running a household, the figure was higher.

Millions of workers will be hit by effective pay cuts as the cost of living rises while incomes stagnate.

Employment experts have warned the figures serve to show the fragility of the labour market, with workers lucky to be in a job rather than being in a position to negotiate higher wages. Reported slight falls in unemployment over the past few months have been due to statistical smoke and mirrors. Less people are claiming jobseekers allowance as more long term unemployed slide onto icome support are are classed as not economically active. This trick neatly gets many people off the headline unemployment figure and mask how bad the situation really is.

The number of people in work fell by 68,000 over the quarter to Dec 31, 2010 to reach 29.12m, the figures from the Office for National Statistics revealed. When we consider six million of those are employed in the non - productive public sector while an unknown but rising number are in part time work and thu kept off the total unemployed figure the depth of our problem starts to become apparent.

Other points to note are:

• Those out of work and claiming unemployment benefits rose by 2,400 in January, against forecast of a fall.

• Wages falling to as inflation rises will plunge many into economic hardship

• Youth unemployment, one of the areas of greatest concern hit a fresh record of 965,000

• If the Bank of England raises interest to curb inflation mortgage payers will be hit

A story in today's Daily Telegraph warned that inflation and rising prices as well as hitting working families and the unemployed are going to make life very hard in retirement.

This story underlines what the Daily Stirrer has been saying for a long time. Everything that is hailed as progress by politicians and scientists has a downside. Unfortunately both those groups are fer too busy congratulating themselves they never give a moment's thought to the undesireable consequences of what they are passing off as 'progress.'

And after years of being bullied and bowbeaten into saving for a comfortable old age only to find our savings and pensions have been pulversised by stealth taxes and inflation to be told we have not done enough to warrant being given a decent standard of living in old age is adding insult to injury.

While the idiotic lefties are hailing the protests in Egypt that overthrew Mubarack as a protest against tyranny and using it to justify working themselves into a frenzy of Obama- adoration the real reasons the Egyptians took to the streets were economic. Rising food prices and the estruction of savings by inflation are driving many, particularly the old into poverty.

For very much the same reasons a a deep anger against politicians, academics who advise them, the sycophantic media and the faceless bureaucrats who really run things is stirring in the west.

Get ready for a social revolution. They can't put us all in prison.

Inflation Surges Ahead As Economy Stagnates

In line with predictions The Daily Stirrer has made for many months the official inflation figure has not hit dounle eht the Bank Of England says is acceptable. And remember, our writers have told you again and again the official statistics are manipulated to conceal the true inflation figure which is two or three percentage points higher.

from The Daily Telegraph
Inflation surged to double the Bank of England's target in January, increasing pressure on its policymakers to raise interest rates. The official measure of how fast prices are rising, the consumer prices index (CPI), climbed 4pc in the year to January, up from 3.7pc the previous month.

The pace of price rises, which was driven by higher oil prices and the recent increase in value added tax (VAT), was the highest in more than two years, according to the Office for National Statistics.

The latest rate - correctly forecast by economists - also signals that CPI inflation has been at least a percentage point above ...

Egypt continues to dominate news. We do not make a big thing of foreign affairs, preferring to focus on the things that will affect the everyday lives of people in the English speaking world where our readers are. Now events in the middle east have moved on and so it is time to take a closer lok at how our jobs and lifestyles will be affected by what is happening at the eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea.

Egypt Crisis Beginning Not Ending

by Xavier Connolly

After almost three weeks of protest and pressure from inside and outside his country, Hosni Mubarak has finally resigned as Egypt’s president. The fall of the ruling regime in the Arab world’s most populous nation is a game changing development but its consequences in the short and long term for Egypt and the middle east for a country are difficult to predict.
The fall of Mubarak coming so soon after the overthrow of President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali of Tunisia last month means that throughout the region governments will be bracing themselves for turmoil. The most worried politicians will, ironically, be in the one nation where anti - government protests are not likely, Israel. The government in Tel Aviv will be wondering what kind of leadership will replace Mubarak, a long time upholder of Israeli - Arab peace agreements. In Egypt itself, there are hopes that President Mubarak’s resignation will lead to a smooth transition to democracy. This is likely to be a forlorn hope as there is no organised opposition and not even a coherent party of government. Egypt has effectively been under military control for 60 years and the army are in charge now.
The establishment of machinery of state needed to support democracy is not going to happen any time soon. What is being hailed as a triumph of people power by foreign leaders such as Obama and Cameron is in effect, a military takeover of the Presidency. In the absence of an opposition with any legitimacy, the High Council of the Armed Forces, as the new government is called, represents the only institution able to fill the vacuum.
This being the case yesterday’s events look more like the beginning of a long drawn out crisis for Egypt not the end of a relatively bloodless revolution. If the land that spawned one of the world's earliest civilizations is to progress to full democratic rule a timetable must be drawn up for free, all-party elections to take place. As the only organizations that look remotely like political parties are the remnants of the old, corrupt regime, and the Muslim Brotherhood, an unknown quantity that will certainly not be as ell disposed to the west or as tolerant of Israel as the Mubarak government.
But will the army let things move towards democratically elected government? How eager will they be to give up their privileges once the demonstrators have gone back to their jobs and businesses?
The West must also be careful about interfering: the consequences of doing so were made clear more than 30 years ago in Iran, where a revolution that also began as a secular movement was hi jacked by Islamist theocrats. We have read reports on British and American news sites that King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has already warned his houseboy Obama to back off and let Egypt sort out it own future. This is where the Muslim Brotherhood's presence in the equation becomes a big factor. How Muslim are they. Middle east experts in the US State Department tell us the moderates in the brotherhood can hold in check the more extreme fringes. That may be true or the case may be that the leaders of the brotherhood presented a moderate face in order to ensure the tolerance of Mubarak's security forces. Egypt’s importance in maintaining peace in the Middle East cannot be overestimated.
Political reform was not the protesters only demand. There having been no single theme to the protests with some groups demanding democracy, others concerned about rising prices and yet more either wanting an end to secularisation or more secularisation and westernisation. High unemployment was also responsible for deepening resentment of President Mubarak. All this shows how remarkable their achievement in ousting him has been even if it was eventually the army that gave him the final push. But while that success offers an opportunity to build a better future for their country that will only happen if all sides can pull together to form a functioning political infrastructure.

If The EU Has It's Way We Will All Be Prisoners Of Bureaucracy

The British Parliament makes its decision by the votes of its members who are in turn elected by the votes of a majority of their constituents. Without the power to enact laws that shape the lives of British people and the direction of our nation Parliament is nothing. So when Parliament votes on a proposal and that vote make the new measure law or consigns it to oblivion in a dusty filing cabinet somewhere that is the resolution of the matter. That is what we mean by The Sovereignty of Parliament. Its decisions are final, end of story.

Thus when Parliament voted earlier this week on a proposal that convicted criminals serving jail sentences should be given the vote and overwhelmingly rejected the idea the matter should end there at least for the foreseeable future. There is no reason why the measure should not be reintroduced in the future but for now the vote of Parliament has ended it.

Or it would have done so had we still lived in a democracy. Unfortunately we do not. Increasingly voters in the states that form the European Union are finding their elected representatives in the various national assemblies exist purely for cosmetic reasons, to put a democratic mask on a remote and increasingly authoritarian bureaucracy in Brussels.

British law, on behalf of the British people, has always taken the attitude that those serving prison sentences should not be able to vote. Recently it has become fashionable for the civil rights hustlers of the left to whine that to deny these people the vote violates their human rights. Maybe it does but thieves, muggers, rapists, murderers, fraudsters, twockers, expenses fiddlers and all the rest had no qualms about violating the rights of the people who suffered loss or injury as a result of their crimes.

Apparently laws and results of votes do not count for much with the civil rights hustlers of the left, forwarding the authoritarian agenda is the end and the end always justifies the means. On being told that criminals have no right to vote because they are being punished for their crimes, the civil rights mob took their case to the European Court of Human Rights. This court which sits in Strasbourg decided that Parliament had never debated the issue of prisoners right to vote and that as there have never been a vote on such a law it was invalid. Now the British electorate are overwhelmingly supportive of the idea that prisoners are not allowed to vote. We would also support laws that deprive prisoners of televisions, MP3 players, pool tables, conjugal visits and other things that the civil rights hustlers have insisted be provided to make life 'inside' bearable.

The case put before the judges in Strasbourg then was not some new government proposal which might deprive people of existing rights. It was a challenge to the democratic (because no MP, no political party, no government has ever opposed it) view of an electorate that had parliamentary democracy for centuries before the bureaucratic dictators of the EU decided to usurp the sovereignty of member nations. The person who nominally made the complaint that he was being deprived of a right had been sent to prison for killing his landlady with an axe when she asked him to fetch some coal demanded. Supported by all the usual suspects from left of the left of the Labour Party he demanded that the court give prisoners the right to vote. The court decided it had the power to overrule the law of a free and democratic and decreed that Britain must give him what he wanted.

Perhaps that is their view of 'One Man One Vote.' Well I suppose it's fine if you are the one man that has the one vote.

It is ironic that the issue of the votes winds up the ECHR because Europe has quite a track record on refusing to accept the results of democratic votes. When the first attempt at enacting a European Constitution that would have paved the way for the single European state was rejected by the voters of France and Holland the Bureaucratic Dictators did not abandon the grand plan. They changed the wording of a few clauses, removed the word constitution and re - presented it as The Treaty Of Lisbon. The new wording meant that only Ireland of the member nations was constitutionally bound to hold a referendum on the new measure. The Irish rejected it, not much caring for all the references to unified taxation policy, unified fiscal policy, unified defence policy, all the stuff that said, "Ho ho, nudge, nudge, we're now a single state but don't say single state or you'll upset the thick Paddies.'

So the very savvy voters of the Emerald Isle sent the message back to Brussels, 'Don't fuck with the Irish.'

That was not acceptable to Brussels, bureaucratic dictatorships are above the law, above democracy, above God. "You got it wrong you thick Paddies," they replied, "have another referendum and make sure you get it right because we will make you keep doing it until you do get it right."

The ECHR ruling does not matter in terms of election results in Britain. Prisons are mostly in either solid Labour or solid conservative seats and there are not enough inmates to swing an election. What it does mean though is that after almost a hundred years campaigning from the 1832 Reform Act to the introduction of Universal Suffrage which gave votes to women in the 1920s have been obliterated. Our votes, though they may be a civil right, count for nothing any more. They can be overruled by an EU Bureaucrat.

Clegg's Quotas - Dumbing Down Disguised as political corretness
When we expressed our misgivings earlier this week about the Government’s plans to force universities to “widen” the social basis of their student intake, the full details were unclear. It transpires, after yesterday’s announcement by Nick Clegg, the Deputy Prime Minister, that the proposals are even worse than we feared. After half a century during which standards in schools have been levelled down by a succession of failed initiatives intended to engineer social change, the Coalition now proposes to make the same mistake with the higher education sector, one of the last bastions of educational excellence. The result would be nothing less than the comprehensivisation of our elite universities.

Under the plans, those universities that wish to charge more than Ł6,000 a year must agree to take a set proportion of students, determined by the Government, from ethnic minorities, poorer households and state schools. Those that fail to do so could be ...

Rise In Factory Gate Prices Fuels Inflation Fears Rise In Factory Prices Fuels Inflation Fears
by Emma Rowley, Daily Telegraph
Interest rates could still rise soon, economists said, as the biggest leap in the prices factories pay for their materials in more than two years underlined the inflation threat. Input prices at factories rose 13.4pc in the year to January – the strongest rise since October 2008 – driven by the soaring cost of oil and other imports, the Office for National Statistics reported. Factories feeling the squeeze accelerated rises in their own prices, raising them 1pc in just a month, double the average forecast, and 4.8pc in the past year, which was the highest since May. If the sector passes on a bigger slice of its price pressures to its customers, the effect threatens to ...

Saudi Arabia Cannot Pump Enough Oil To Keep Prices Down
John de Roe comments:
The rampant inflation we have warned readers of since we started The Daily Stirrer looks to be gathering momentum. We have little chance of controlling it so long as interest rates remain as ridiculously low as they have been for over a year now. Earlier this week the Bank of England again refused to raise interest to a more realistic level.

The fear and panic mongers of the left argued successfully that to raise interest rates now would damage the recovery. What recovery? Holding interest rates at which the governments lend to banks without controlling the rate at which banks lend to businesses and the public only aids the recovery of the banker's ability to steal from their customers.

Another item of bad news for ordinary punters was skimmed over by the media this week when credit card companies raised the interest they charge to card holders. Rates vary but at around 15% it bears no relation to the base rate.

The left's arguement is that low interest will help restore confidence and encourage consumers to start spending again. Spending what? Their cards and overdrafts are already maxed out, they are struggling to pay mortgages, the value of their savings if they have any and the buying power of eranings are being eroded by inflation and few people feel they have long term job security.

Inflation will damage recovery far more than raising interest rates a couple of points.

George Osborne's Levy On Bank Profits Slammed by Ed Balls
Coalition Chancellor George Osborne was accused of "moving the tax goalposts" by banks and of introducing a "damp squib" by Labour after increasing a levy on bank profits to raise Ł2.5bn this year.

from The Daily Telegraph"
The British Bankers' Association, the voice of the industry, said "constant chopping and changing" of the tax regime "risks making the UK a less attractive place for businesses to operate".

Ed Balls, the shadow chancellor, dismissed the announcement as "hurried and panicky" and a "damp squib" because the coalition had decided not to re-impose Labour's 2010 bonus tax.

He was speaking before the two politicians went head-to-head in the Commons for the first time this afternoon, exchanging sharp words at Treasury questions.

Mr Osborne said he had increased the levy to raise an extra Ł800m this year to make sure "banks make a fair contribution to closing the deficit".

John de Roe comments: How tiresome and predicatable to see Labour's senior finance spokesman attacking the Coalition for not punishing the banks severely enough when Labour, the party of academics, lawyers, media professionals, greedy capitalists, public sector managers and anyone else who has never done a day's labour in their life throughout their thirteen years in office bent over backwards to help the banks steal money from their customers.

China Raises Interest Rates To Curb Inflation

The Chnese government has raised interest rates on the last day of the Chinese New Year holiday to try to temper inflation as the country returns to work after the holiday.

The Shanghai Composite Index is due to reopen on Wednesday after a week's holiday. The move is an attempt by the Chinese central bank to signal its determination to keep inflation in check. By raising the one-year lending rate to 6.06pc from 5.81pc and the deposit rate to 3pc from 2.75pc they hope to cool inflationary pressures.

The Hang Seng index in Hong Kong, which reopened on Monday, responded by dipping slightly to 23,484.3 points, a drop of 0.3pc. The latest interest rate rise was expected. Chinese policymakers have tightened monetary policy over the New Year break for several years now.

The Car Of The Future - And It Runs On Petrol

by Xavier Connolly

The Car Of The Future - And It Runs On Petrol
How long have those research grant phishing, statistics rigging, peer review fiddling sciencyheads been telling us the car of the future would be powered by electricity? This was despite their best efforts after Squillions of Dollars, Pounds, Euros and Yen only having produced a hybrid that required both an electric motor and an internal combusion unit to get you home. Or a car that had a battery pack so big and heavy that there was not only no room in the car for a back seat, kids, dog, grandma or shopping and it would only get you to the end of your drive before needing recharging. Or a car that could get you almost a hunded miles provided the journey was on absolutely level roads, you travelled at a constant speed - no stopping, starting, overtaking or playing the radio or was followed by a 40 ton Mack Truck (like the one in Spielberg's film Duel) which haled the portable nuclear power plant needed to keep the Electric Car going.

Well we know how good scientists predictions are don't we. So nobody will be surprised if I tell you those clever engineers at Volkswagen have created a different sort of supercar and it is powrered by petrol or gas as the Americans say. The prototype is small and lightweight, with the tinyiest, most economical engine ever used to power anything bigger than a model plane. It is not fast, but designed in the spirit of engineering pioneers like the 1929 Burney Streamliner, Buckminster Fuller’s 1933 Dymaxion and the 1937 Mercedes Avus Stromlinie. VW’s 21st-century streamliner, the XL1 is honed not for speed as its pioneering predecessors were but to meet the needs of future motorists in a world where oil is scarce and hideously expensive. The prototype can achieve an astonishing 313mpg.

Racism and Equality Special
edited by Profanicus Maximus

If you are British and interested in politics or current affairs you will probably have heard of a racist little piece of shit named Trevor Phillips. He is chairperson of the Equalities Commission and his job as he sees it is to ensure some of the animals are more equal than others.

Phillips lost contact with sanity many years ago. Throughout the past two decades he has tried to make a case for running government policy in the UK as if racism was the only social problem we have. Phillips has worked tirelessly to bring to Britain the same kind of acial tensions as divide society so destructivly in the USA.

The lastest torrent of verbal arse dribble to spew forth from Phillips sees him claiming the credit crunch was caused by the racism of bankers.

US Racist Bankers To Blame For Credit Crunch Says Head Of Equalities Commission

The failure of racist American bankers to provide black home owners with fair mortgages fuelled the financial crisis, Trevor Phillips, the equalities chief, will claim in a major speech this week.

Calling on the Government to ensure that the programme of public sector cuts does not fall disproportionately on minorities, Mr Phillips will warn that discrimination can have unexpected economic consequences.

Addressing the Policy Exchange think tank, he will argue that the phenomenon of subprime home loans, which led to the 2008 banking collapse, emerged because even wealthy black families could not obtain regular mortgages.

A number of banks involved in the crash, including Lehman Brothers and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), were over reliant on toxic subprime loans to customers who could not afford to ...

Among the lies, misrepresentatons and distortions Philips will try to sell to his receptive audience is this: “I know it's not a thing that the bankers and economists like to talk about, but the American financial crisis was precipitated at least in part by racial prejudice. “Why were so many minority families taking these expensive loans? Because discrimination left them with no choice. Absolutely untrue. Banks offered loans to members of ethnic minorities they knew were unsafe clients simply because they were afraid of being branded institutionally racist by shits like Trevor Phillips and the loony leftie politicians who have handed this otherwise unemployable troublemakers sinecure after sinecure on he strength of his one qualification, his colour.

And it was the politically correct housing policies of loony lefties at national and local level that did a lot to stigmatise people who dwelt in rented property.

In the week David Cameron has joined Angela Merkel in pronouncing the leftist experiment in multiculturalism dead it will be resassuring to many self hating, western civilisation hating lefties to see Trevor Phillips is still cherleading for the cration of an anti - white, anti - British political elite.

The Government should consider withdrawing Britain from the European Court of Human Rights, an influential think tank said.

Too bloody right it should. The human rights hustlers are all shits. (see above).

Wikileaks: American President Gave Britain's Secrets To Russia To Secure A Deal

Daily Telegraph Exclusive: The US secretly agreed to give the Russians sensitive information on Britain’s nuclear deterrent to persuade them to sign a key treaty, The Daily Telegraph can disclose...

Information about every Trident missile the US supplies to Britain will be given to Russia as part of an arms control deal signed by President Barack Obama next week. Defence analysts claim the agreement risks undermining Britain’s policy of refusing to confirm the exact size of its nuclear arsenal.

The fact that the Americans used British nuclear secrets as a bargaining chip also sheds new light on the so-called “special relationship”, which is ...

Meanwhile The Guardian was full of praise for the upstart colonial who is so eager to stab Britain in the back: Has Obama Given Up On A Nuclear Free World

The long-awaited New Start treaty, securing nuclear reductions between the US and Russia, enters into force this weekend. Hillary Clinton and Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov are exchanging "instruments" at a security conference in Munich today.

This is an important moment for President Barack Obama, as despite ...

Ed Butt comments:
The point about the START treaty the media are determined to overlook is that Obie's agreement to reduce nuclear weapons involves the US crapping functional kit while Russia will only be scrapping obsolete and FUBAR missiles.

And while on the topic, wasn't it nice of the President to give Russia details of Britain's deterrant in order that he might pose as the great peacemaker.

Special relationship my arse. London is still the world's leading currency trading centre. I say let's trash the US$.

As for the revelation that $ billions of money given as aid to banana republics has been stolen by tinpot dictators and distributed among their families and supporters to be spent on ... well Plasma TVs seems a tad trivial, let's say gold plated Ferraris, luxury yachts and sex slaves is no surprise to anyone who has a grip on reality.

Cameron Says Multiculturalism Has Failed: Muslims Must Embrace Our Values

British Muslims must subscribe to mainstream values of freedom and equality, David Cameron will say as he declares that the doctrine of multiculturalism has “failed” and will be abandoned. Entering the debate on national identity and religious tolerance, the Prime Minister will declare an end to “passive tolerance” of divided communities, and say that members of all faiths must integrate into wider society and accept core values. To be British is to believe in freedom of speech and religion, democracy and equal rights regardless of race, sex or sexuality, he will tell his audience.
Cameron: Muslims Must Embrace Our Values
Ed Butt comments: See above. The Daily Stirrer has been encouraged by the coalition's apparent willingness to jetisson the idiocies of multiculturealism but so far there seems to be no matching commitment to rolling back the states usurpation of the role of parents, the meddling in our provate lives and the left wing indoctrination programme that passes for a national curriculum in state schools.

Dave still has a long way to go before we will trust him.

No news worthy of comment today so we are not bringing you the usual Daily Stirrer selection. Instead we have had a new report on Higher Educatiuon from Harvard University pointed out to us. Although we were well ahead on this issue it's nice to know the world's leading (ahem) academics catch up with us old gits eventually.

Have Governments Put Too Much Resource Into Higher Education

by Xavier CDonnolly, John de Roe and Ian R Thorpe, 3 February 2011

For a couple of decades governments have been pushing the idea that higher education and a university degree are the only roads to career success, prosperity and happiness. Since we began putting The Daily Stirrer on line two years ago and before that when Ian wrote Little Nicky Machiavelli blog we have argued that university education is not the be all and end all. Can it really be that incurring tens of thousands of pounds or dollars in debt to attend an educational institution where most of what you learn will not be relevant to a career in business, industry or public service is a bad investment?

Well The Daily Stirrer has always thought the amount of pressure put on young people to enroll on university courses was directly related to the decay of the business and industrial base in some western nations, in fact it was nothing but a ruse to keep people out of the jobs market and make unemployment statistics look, if not respectable, certainly less bad.

As usual what The Daily Stirrer was saying last year (and the year before that) is what our leaders, politicians and the academics who advise them are saying today or will be saying tomorrow. A new report released by Harvard University magazine Harvard Wednesday states in some of the strongest terms yet that such a “university for all” emphasis may actually harm many students by preventing them from having a smooth transition from adolescence to the work place.

A new report released by Harvard Wednesday states in some of the strongest terms yet that such a “college for all” emphasis may actually harm many American students – keeping them from having a smooth transition from adolescence to adulthood and a viable career… “It would be fine if we had an alternative system [for students who don’t get college degrees], but we’re virtually unique among industrialized countries in terms of not having another system and relying so heavily on higher education,” says Robert Schwartz, who heads the Pathways to Prosperity project at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education. Emphasizing college as the only path may actually cause some students – who are bored in class but could enjoy learning that’s more entwined with the workplace – to drop out, he adds. “If the image [of college] is more years of just sitting in classrooms, that’s not very persuasive.”… The United States can learn from other countries, particularly in northern Europe, Professor Schwartz says. In Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and Switzerland, for instance, between 40 and 70 percent of high-schoolers opt for programs that combine classroom and workplace learning, many of them involving apprenticeships. These pathways result in a “qualification” that has real currency in the labor market… “If we persist with the illusion that everyone is going to college, then we’re cheating those kids who aren’t going,” Professor Ferguson says. “A majority of the workforce does not have a college degree, and a majority of the things those people do are going to continue not requiring a college degree.”

The Climate Strikes Back

by Xavier Connolly
Australians Flee Catastrophic Cyclone Winter Storm Batters America The Daily Stirrer has always said our problems with climate instability were far too complex for the simple, pedantic minds of the scientists who tried to reduce the problem to one element that could easily be expressed in mathematical equations or depicted in graphs.

For some years now the debate has been dominated by a group of scientists who style themselves 'climate scientists' though they are from backgrounds as diverse as physics, astrology, psychology and some have purused careers in such fields as railway network managers, public relations, history, journalism and advertizing and so are not by any stretch of the imagination scientists.

Sad to say their mathematical models have come unstuck, the climate has proved unpredicable and the case for carbon dioxide driven global warming which was being used to justify imposition of draconian taxes on everything has collapsed.

We are in for a period of chaotic changes in weather patterns it seems. The reasons for this are not known and are certainly not simple. Human activity may be something to do with it but we are more likely to be affecting the climate through deforestation, urbanisation and simply more people on the planet than it's eco system can cope with than through a marginal increase in a trace gas in air.

Some say the chaotic weather events are part of a natural cycle, some ascribe them to sun spot activity and others think the precessional cycle may be influencing climate mechanisms. We do not truly know.

Do we trust the climate scientists then, having seen that they were willing to collude with the political establishment, big business and big finance in order to gain money, power and control over human communities. Or should we perhaps put more faith in our ability as a pecies to survive and adapt as nature will adapt.

Science can posit theories but it is engineers like myself who will provide the solutions as we prepare to ride out the storm. Engineers you see spend our time dealing with real probems in the real world.

Al Qaeda Planning A Nuclear Dirty Bomb Attack?

by Ed Butt

Al Qaeda Is Planning A Dirty Bomb Al-Qaeda is actively tring to secure nuclear material and recruiting rogue scientists to build a radioactive "dirty" bomb, according to leaked diplomatic documents.

A leading atomic regulator has privately warned that the world stands on the brink of a "nuclear 9/11".

Security briefings suggest that jihadi groups are also close to producing "workable and efficient" biological and chemical weapons that could kill thousands if unleashed in attacks on the West.

Thousands of classified American cables obtained by the WikiLeaks website and passed to The Daily Telegraph detail the international struggle to stop the spread of weapons-grade nuclear, chemical and biological material around the globe.

At a Nato meeting in January 2009, security chiefs ...

The first thing to remember about this fear and panic story is a dirty bomb is not a hydrogen bomb. What we are talking about is low level nuclear waste, nasty stuff to be sure but not likely to cause the widespread death and destruction that would result from a strike with tactical nulclear weapons.

So you can file dirty bomb fear and panic with Swine Flu fear and panic. We are told it's the end of civilisation asd we know it but the likely result is a few people will feel a bit poorly. Not many people are aware of this but the notorious Chenobyl nuclear accident that scientists and politicians assured us would wipe out half of Russia has resulted in very few premature deaths while incidences of cancer in the surrounding areas are not much higher than normal.

Far more short term and long term damage was done by the leak of conventional chemicals from the Union Carbide pant in Bophal, India. Decades later children in that area are still being born with hideous deformities due to their parents having ingested toxic chemicals during their childhood.

Let's just keep things in perspective.

Personally I am beginning to wonder if Mr. Assange and his band of Privateers are working for The White House. The leaks seem to be revealing things that are far too convenient for the Obama Administration for it to be glibly written off as coincidence.

Egypt Gets Ready For Biggest Protests So Far

Western businesses and intelligence agencies are concerned that Egypt's public insurrection may have a knock on effect, inciting protests in other middle east nations, particularly the Shia region of Saudi Arabia where the world's richest oilfields are located.

"Yemen, Sudan, Jordan and Syria are all experiencing unrest with dissatisfaction among both secularists who want to live in a more westernised society and Islamists who favour much greater religious influence in government. The greatest risk for the west in terms of both probability and severity of impact is in Saudi Arabia," said a report by risk consultants Exclusive Analysis.

Financial markets have focused on possible disruption to the Suez Canal, conduit for 8pc of global shipping but it is unlikely that Egyptian leaders of any revolutionary or democratic government would cut off an income stream that brings $5bn (Ł3.1bn) a year in foreign exchange into the Egyptian economy.

"I don't think the Egyptians will ever dare to interfere with the canal," said Opec chief Abdalla El-Badri, adding that the separate Suez oil pipeline is "very well protected". The canal was last blocked after the Six Days War in 1967.

Intelligence sources feel there is less chance of instability spreading to Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, headquarters of the Saudi oil giant Aramco. The Shia region boasts the vast Safaniya, Shaybah and Ghawar oilfields. "This is potentially far more dangerous," said Faysal Itani, Mid-East strategist at Exclusive. "The Shia make up 10pc of the Saudi population. They are deeply aggrieved and marginalised, and sit on top of the kingdom's oil reserves. There have been frequent confrontations and street fights with the security forces that are very rarely reported in the global media," he said.

Bread and Freedom
The cries of "bread and freedom", heard across the Arab world during the past two weeks, are not mere rhetoric. The price of bread has always been as powerful a driver of revolt as the denial of liberty. The latest reminder of this has come in Tunisia, Egypt and Jordan, where the lethal combination of joblessness and sharply rising prices for basic ...

Government Should Slow Down On Cuts, Raise Pension Age.

At the Daily Stirrer we seldom hve anything positive to say about adacemics, particularly those academic who feather their nests by wheedling their way onto government advisory panels by laying claim to expertise only real life experience can bring. I lecture in engineering at degree level so am familiar with such people. And that makes me less inclined to defend them than my colleagues. Here is an example of why.

from The Daily Telegraph:
The Coalition should keep people working longer to help allow a slowdown in the pace of cuts, which would aid the UK's recovery, a leading think tank has argued.

The economy is operating at around 4pc under its potential, signalling the need to rethink the fiscal tightening, according to the National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR).

"Given that margin of spare capacity, there is a case for promoting the recovery by postponing at least some of the austerity programme," the think-tank said as it unveiled its quarterly forecasts. "As an alternative to swift consolidation, it (the government) could raise the state pension age faster so that it reaches 68 rather than 66 by 2020."

Adding three years to the average working life would boost growth by 0.3 percentage points a year for a decade, said NIESR, as the labour force grows and money otherwise stashed away for retirement stays in the economy ...

Government Should Hold Back Cuts, Lift Pension Age

As usual we get masses of statistics, economic theory and mathematical modelling being used to obfuscate the fact that with employment running at lmost 10% (much higher if you count those who would work were jobs available but who have dropped off the official unemployment figure because they no longer qualify for jobseekers allowance) and unemployment among school leavers and university graduates reaching record levels all we would achieve by keeping people in work an extra three years is to keep people at the other end of the age spectrum out of jobs for longer.

This thinking does tie in with one plan that has been put forward, to raise the school leaving age to eighteen.

Such talk is nothing but academic empire building. Pupils who are totally pissed off with the cloassroom at fourteen are hardly going to stop being undisciplined and disruptive on being told they have to spend longer in an environment they destest so what is the point of making them stay on?

It costs more to keep somebody in a classroom or employ them in a public sector non job that to let them sit at home watching TV.

The coalition should end this kind of nOnesense now. Cut off funding for think tanks and use the money saved to fund tax breaks for manufacturing and hi tech industries. Britain can still compete when firms are hamstrung by a taxation system that punishes success and a buresaucracy that, unable to contribute anything, delights in its ability to obstruct others.

Mainstream Media Blanks The Story Remember how the Social Justice Warriors of the politically correct 'left' screamed when a young black man named Trayvon Martin was shot by Hispanic George Zimmerman, because it was assumed someone named Zimmerman would be white? Remember how they wailed and stirred up civil unrest when a black man was shot by white cops in Ferguson, Missouri, automatically assuming the the killing was racially motivated. more >>>

Things Are Getting crazier In USA As Trump Supporters Push Back Against Obamas Silent Coup

A congressional investigation has revealed that the Obama administration channeled billions of dollars to activist groups through a Department of Justice slush fund scheme. “It’s clear partisan politics played a role in the illicit actions that were made,” Republican Representative John Ratcliffe of Texas told Fox News. “The DOJ is the last place this should have occurred.” more >>>

Donald Trump Just Exposed Obama for HORRIBLE Crime! HERE IS THE PROOF!!
As the first scandal to hit the Trump Administration, the truped-up accusations that team members had contact with Russia was splashed over mainstream media, American liberals were quick to claim (dishonestly) that the Obama administration had been scandal free. The “scandal-free” Obama’s may finally have just been caught red-handed. Are Spineless, Snivelling Liberal Scum Sucker Bringing Back Blasphemy Crimes To The West For The Sake Of Sucking Up To Islamic Extremists?
All the signs suggest the Western democracies are submitting to presure from Islamic extremists and reviving blasphemy laws, but applying them only to those who insult Islam. We are still free to be obscenely disrespectful to Christianity, Judaeism, Hinduism and buddhism. Canada and Denmark are leading the way back to medieval religious oppression ...more >>>

Katie Hopkins Reports From Hellacious Sweden, ‘Where Females Fear to Tread’
A news feed filled with reports of the rape and assault of Sweden’s young women, some inexplicably streamed live on Facebook by the gang as they attacked. Other reports filed quietly away in a box marked unmentionable: the rape of a 12-year-old unaccompanied immigrant by a so called fellow 'unaccompanied minor' immigrant who later bragged he was 45.

Junk Food Killing Kids? We often hear about the plague of obesity from talking – head ‘nutrition experts’ on TV, but less is said about the other problem caused by a diet of junk food. On a typical teenager’s diet it is possible to develop both obesity and malnutrition. On the flip side, you have malnutrition. According to the United Nations (UN) special rapporteur, Hilal Elver, Ph.D., the impact of processed food on public health is “alarming.”

Report casts new doubts on WETC official story The controversy goes on, fifteen years later. While it ought to be obvious even to the most casual observer that the way the twin towers collapsed on 9/11 did not look as if it could be the result of a random strike (and Tower 7 was not hit by anything - well a careless sparrow maybe,) many people who should know better but are in awe of authority continue to scream conspiracy theorist at even those well qualified to challlence the official narrative.

While attention has been focused on Sweden because of remarks made by US President Donald Trump, the apocalyptic level of culturally-enriched violence in neighbouring Norway and particularly in Grønland, a district of the capital city of Oslo. People sell drugs openly just next to the Grønland subway station.

Courts Quietly Confirm MMR Vaccine Causes Autism
After decades of passionate debate, parents probably missed the repeated admissions by drug companies and governments alike that vaccines do in fact cause autism. For concerned parents seeking the truth, it’s worth remembering that the exact same people who own the world’s drug companies also own America’s news outlets. Finding propaganda-free information has been difficult, until now.

The War On Cash Intensifies In Response To Trump and Brexit
It appears Europe is charging towards a cashless society. Just days after Davos’ elites discussed why the world needs to “get rid of currency,” the European Commission has introduced a proposal enforcing “restrictions on payments in cash.” – because only terrorists and drug-dealers need cash (nothing at all to do with totalitarian control over a nation’s wealth) – we are not surprised that this proposal from the European Commission would appear…

French Finance Minister Says UK’s May Is Not In A Position To Negotiate With Trump You have to wonder just who the testicularly deficient little pen pusher of the failing EuroNazi project think they are. With Britain's Conservative Government pressing ahead with a 'hard Brexit agenda, and the Trump administration setting abou demolishing the expressway to socialism Barack Obama had spent eight years contruction, there is a lot of speculation and precious little hard evidence to indicate where the globalist elite, having seen their ambition for a world government thwarted will go next.

The role of cosmic electric currents in earth’s climate
If you’ve been following the growth of the Electric Universe movement, you know that this growth is due largely to the power of a new paradigm to explain things left unexplained by conventional theory. The greatest surprises of the space age are not surprises to researchers exploring the role of the electric force across the cosmos. Nor is it surprising to see the electric force at work close to home, both in the sculpting of planetary surfaces and in the evolution of life on earth ...

The Reality Of Globalism - World Trade Has Increased By Less Than 1% Annually In The Last Decade
There can be little doubt that 2016 was the year the great pushback against globalisation and the push towards an authoritarian world government (NWO) really got off the ground. Fears that the world is on the edge of rejecting globalization and a global economy, with its false promise of prosperity for all and its reality of an ever widening gap between rich and poor have dominated ...

World Bank Aims to Hand Over Seed Industry to Agribusiness
Today Donald Trump will be inaugurated as 45h President of The United States, his victory in the November election having been a major setback to those dark forces that give the impression only one more big push was needed to drive the world into accepting a global authoritarian government. Trump's victory, combined with 'Brexit' the vote by British citizens to leave the EU, combined to make 2026 a bad year for the globalists.

The Left In Meltdown
As the UK Labour Party crumbles into complete disarray with it’s leader, the sixty – eight year old perpetual student protestor Jeremy Corbyn proving a more divisive figure than any of his predecessors, as he sacrifices more and more votes on the altar of fashionable causes, and the EU, natural successor to Hitler’s European unification project falls apart in the face of resurgent cultural nationalism, it is quite satisfying to see ...

NEW CHAINS FOR OLD

An Item In Todays News About US Gov't Internet Security Hack has Tipped Our Editor Over The Edge

Oxford University wants to turn English into a sterilized Orwellian language
Oxford University, one of the oldest universities in the world and, one might think, the 'home' of the English language is now, it seems, engaged in a New World Order campaign to destroy the English Language. It appears the finest young minds in society are so deeply offended by words that remind them men and women are biologically they, backed by their fuckwitted Marxist lecturers and professors, are demanding gender specific pronouns be abolished.

I Was Right - Gravilty Does Not Exist

Well OK, saying gravity does not exist is a bit of an oversimplification, but there is strong evidence Isaac Newton's theory of what makes things fall to the ground, which does not attempt to explain how gravity makes things fall, but only states gravity is a natural force, really misunderstood what was going on.

France Falling Apart As The World Looks On
France will elect a new president in May 2017. Politicians are already campaigning and debating about deficits, welfare recipients, GDP growth, and so on, but they look like puppets disconnected from the real country. Violence. It is spreading. Not just terrorist attacks; pure gang violence. The media does not dare to say that this violence is coming mainly from Muslim gangs

The Internet Purge Of Politically Incorrect (aka truthful) Content Begins
Facebook, Google (owners of YouTube) and Microsoft have long been known as CIA collaborators and it has been acknowledged that Obama's move in divesting the US government of responsibility for ICANN allows The White House to make outraged noises about suppression of free speech while using Search Engine Operators as proxies to shut down anything challinging US and NATO propaganda (on the grounds no doubt that challenging the politically correct orthodoxy constitutes hate speech.)
